Magic – Laying in the Middle of a Road with a Broken Leg

6/27/16 – Because of the success of the Father’s Day Challenge, we were able to take on a few major medical cases. All of their stories will be reported on but the first we were able to help last week was this little guy, Magic. We received a request from his rescuer advising that she found him laying in the middle of the street with cars just going around him — no one would stop and he couldn’t move. He had a broken leg. Caitlin didn’t turn her back. She picked him up, brought him home, and contacted us.

Magic had surgery last week for a broken leg. He had a pin installed and Caitlin reported that he is doing very well. Here is a message from his new mom:

“Thank you so much. I am so grateful for this. I contacted the………and they were awful. Their lack of interest and help. I called them 4 times and was transferred around each time. Then a lady told me that I can surrender the cat but they can’t “guarantee” treatment, and the cat will most likely be ” humanely put to sleep” . and that if I’m approved for the credit card I can I can put the treatment on it. It hurts they have enough money to build a multi million dollar new building but can’t help with one helpless kitten. Bottom line. Thank you SOOOOO much for helping. You helped when no one else would. You are a blessing. Thank you, thank you for saving this kittens life. I will love him forever and give him the best home – Caitlin”

Thank you to the great staff at Hartrick Veterinary Clinic for taking such good care of Magic and a huge thank you to Caitlin for taking this sweet baby in and getting him the help he needed. AND, let us not forget our generous donors who continue to help us make miracles happen.

Smores, Oreo, and Jazzy – Kittens Saved from Certain Death

6/26/16 – It is always great to hear back from the individuals we help when they rescue an abandoned or stray animal. Unless you are a rescue or work in animal advocacy, you wouldn’t believe the number of animals — especially cats — who are left behind in mobile home parks and condominium complexes. I don’t know what it is. Do people think their pet will be safer if ‘dumped’ in a complex vs. ‘the street’. Unfortunately, the majority of these animals are not fixed so they reproduce at a rapid rate and before you know it, the residents of the complexes/parks want them “OUT”. Thank God for those caring individuals who do their best to make a difference and try to clean up the carnage (note the kittens who were aborted) left by others. Here is a note we just received from Felicia who we’ve helped with her efforts: ~ diana

“Hi Diana,

I just wanted to say THANK YOU SO MUCH for taking care of all the cats and kittens medical bills. I don’t know what I would do without 4 Paws 1 Heart to help me out.

Missy took the kittens (Smores and Oreo) to foster and she also took the mother (Jazzy)to try to help her and get her socialized. They had to abort 5 kittens too because she was pregnant again. So sad!!!

I’m so grateful to you, Debra, Jo, and Missy too. I’m afraid there would be at least 20 more out there in my condo complex if it wasn’t for all the help I received.

As far as I know, I am still feeding 5 total now. Only 2 of them are fixed and those 2 you helped with last November….THANK YOU!!!!

It just seems endless. People have moved out, so I was thinking they just left them???? I don’t know, it just makes me sick!!!

Thank you again Diana and GOD BLESS YOU!!!!!!!!

Felicia 🙂

Babies Born in a Truck with Dirty Rags and No One Wanting Them

6/23/16 – This is just one of the many sad and dangerous conditions that mama cats and their babies find themselves in. The ending of this story has yet to be played out but we are praying that our vast village of caring cat experts can help out. This mama cat decided to have her babies in the back of a pick up truck. Totally unprotected and unwanted. We received a call from a concerned citizen because the family wants the family OUT now or they will go to a shelter. The mom appears to be very feral (or overly protective of her kittens). We can understand that the feline family may be interfering with the use of the truck but…..

We have been sharing the need in hopes that our many friends can figure out the best way to ensure the safety for everyone. We will keep you updated but I wanted to share the plight of so many of those who must rely on us to make a difference.

Kittens – Living in a Woodpile Need a Home

6/23/16 – Please share!! While we continue to help our canine friends, the mama cats and kittens continue to be busting out of the seams. No matter how much we all spay and neuter our feline friends, the reproduction just continues. If you want to know why, here it is. A female cat can start reproducing as early as 4 months old. She can then proceed to have 3 litters a year. If that female, living in the wild, lives to 3 years old (about 11-14 years younger than an indoor cat), she can average having 45 kittens in that short life span. And, if nothing is done with those 45, each one of them will continue the cycle to either have kittens or create kittens.

Every day we get calls from individuals we have worked with and new friends who can’t turn their back on the alone and abandoned. Here are 3 beauties who are about 6-8 weeks old whose mom is no longer caring for them. Many people might consider these babies feral, but keep in mind that we brought in a sweetheart who was outside for 10 months and had already had one litter, and a 12 week old. Today, they can’t get enough of Tony’s love.

If anyone is interested in helping these babies, please contact Jamie,[email protected]. 4 Paws 1 Heart will pay for all medical and let you use our resources to find permanent placement. Thank you for sharing and educating. ~ diana

Marbles – Found in a Subdivision Without Any Identification

6/22/16 – Let’s find this beauty a furever home!! Here is Marbles’ story as given to us from her rescuer. ~ diana
“PLEASE SHARE: This is Marbles, a stray female cat that has been hanging around 25 Mile and Jewel (Lake Arrowhead sub, Shelby Township). Tried locating her owner, but no luck. Want to find her a furever home ASAP. Marbles has been vetted through 4Paws1Heart (a special thanks to Diana). She was previously spayed, no chip, now up to date on shots, no fleas, and tested negative. Marbles weighs 16 lbs., but she told me that she is big boned. Vet said she’s 1-1/2 years old, but she acts like a much more mature cat. Very mellow. Not comfortable around young children or dogs, but she hung around our feral cats outside and did fine, so I would think other cats would be okay. She loves to be petted and brushed! Marbles is such a sweetie! Her favorite hobbies are looking out the window and opening cupboards! If interested, please call me at 586-781-2406. Please leave a message in my absence. – Gail”

Bella – Her Owner No Longer Wanted Her

6/20/16 – Meet Bella. She is a 7-month old American Staffordshire Terrier/mix. Her owner no longer wanted her so the owner’s father took her to the Romulus Animal Shelter. The shelter did not have any room and said they could euthanize her but they would charge for the procedure. The owners didn’t want to pay and brought Bella back home. A neighbor heard of Bella’s fate and had the owners surrender the dog to her. Now, they need our help and we are happy to give it. Bella will be spayed, vaccinated, and heart worm tested. The rescuer will try to find a perfect home for this cutie. ~ diana

Sweetpea – Found on the Street

6/20/16 – THANK YOU! A huge thank you to all of our friends who made donations during our Father’s Day Challenge. We met our goal of $2,500 and our generous benefactor will not only be matching ALL of the donations but an additional bonus will be included.

This is Sweetpea. Another sweet innocent left behind. Because of the generosity of our supporters, 4 Paws 1 Heart can continue to take care of the many animals who have no one else. With the help of our caring veterinarians, $100 will pay for neuter/spay, basic vaccinations, and testing for feline leukemia/feline aids. A female cat can get pregnant as early as 4 months old and she can have 3 litters a year for most of her life. Assuming each litter has 5 kittens, that’s 15 kittens a year! If that female lives in the wild for just 4 years, she will produce approximately 60 kittens. Then, those kittens, will continue the cycle. That $100 investment will ensure that hundreds of cats will NOT be born. That is what we call making a difference — all because of you. Again, thank you so very much!!

P.S. Anyone interested in this little beauty, should contact Jo at [email protected] ~ diana
