I’m getting big and strong, but I need a family to call my own.

9/5/16 – As an organization whose mission is to reduce the overwhelming number of unwanted animals by providing medical treatment to abandoned and stray animals, we can’t always dictate where the animal goes; our focus always comes down to making sure an animal has been spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Very often, because of our network, we can do more. But, that is not always the case. Every time a cat is spayed, the possibility of hundreds of cats being born is taken away.
We received a call from a follower who we’ve helped a number of times in the past. She does outreach in the City of Detroit. In her work, she came across these three animals who are “indoor/outdoor” cats being cared for by a kind woman. You and I may not think this is the best environment for these beauties but we just have to be satisfied that because of our friend who does outreach and the donations we receive, we can at least make sure these babies will not multiply and are vaccinated. ~ diana
9/4/16 – There is so much tough news lately and so many animals needing our help, I wanted to share this good news. When Heather contacted us, we were happy to increase Ziva’s odds for being adopted by paying for her to be spayed, tested, and vaccinated. Good Luck, sweet Ziva. ~ diana
Please share and say a prayer for little Ping. She was one of many kittens rescued from a home that was overwhelmed with cats and kittens. The kittens have been sick with coccidia which is a parasitic illness. Little Ping was the smallest of the babies taken in by our loving Board member, Dee, and her equally loving husband, Rick. ~ diana
A 4p1h follower and the creator of For the Love of Louie both contacted us to say they had seen a posting for a lost cat who looked like Ghost. I referred the information to Joe and Dana, the kind rescuers who used their own money to have a vet examine Ghost and then contacted us for additional help. Joe and Dana had searched For the Love of Louie when they found Ghost but didn’t find anything. Upon getting the information forwarded, Joe contacted the poster and it was determined that Ghost was, in fact, the lost cat. Once again, I want to thank Joe and Dana for their huge hearts. Because of them, Ghost did not die a lonely and horrible death on the streets. RIP, Sweet Ghost. ~ diana
93/16 – RIP Sweet Ghost! – It was August 22, 2016 when a kind man found this sweet girl howling in the middle of a parking lot at his workplace. She was flea infested and skin and bones. The man couldn’t turn his back on this poor creature and he and his wife took her immediately to a vet. The vet provided some topical treatments, vaccinations, and found she was negative for felv/fiv. Because the heart beat was fast, the vet suggested further testing be done. That is when the rescuers contacted us.
Ghost was taken to one of the generous veterinary clinics who work with us and was found to be positive for a hyperthyroid. Ghost was given meds and a follow up visit was planned. Although Ghost was getting much love, she was still struggling and last night she crossed the rainbow bridge. I so wish we could have done more to save this 5 lb. baby found in the middle of a busy parking lot. But, as what happens far too many times, we have to find solace knowing that she left this world feeling love and knowing that there were good hearts trying to do everything they could to give her a second chance at life. 9/2/16 – Meet Angel – The doctors believe she is about 4-5 years old. She was left behind by her owners when they were evicted from a hotel room. Fortunately, one of the caring employees (whom we’ve helped with a similar case in the past) contacted us for help. Angel has a clean bill of health. She has already been spayed and was given preventative treatment. The rescuer cannot keep Angel but wants to make sure she gets a forever, loving home. 9/1/16 – Meet Knox. Last weekend we were contacted for help because this 1 yr old dog was brought into an emergency hospital dying from parvo virus. Because donations have been so slow, while demand for our help continues to be high, we had to set a limit on the dollars we could commit. One of the doctors at Advanced Animal Emergency, Dr VanSteenkiste, volunteered to help with any above costs associated with the care. And, after 4 days of aggressive care, Knox made a full recovery! He is now in a wonderful foster home and if it works out with their pets, he will stay forever ♡♡♡♡ A huge thank you to the caring and professional staff who all went beyond the call of duty to save this sweet boy. ~ gina
8/31/16 – No matter how many dollars we spend on spay and neuter, the kittens keep coming. These beautiful babies were rescued from a home where several kittens and moms were discovered. As so often happens, caring people take in animal after animal and then they become overwhelmed and can’t provide the needed medical treatment. Here is Velma, Wolfie, Monkey, Cheech, and Poppy. 8/30/16 – Please share; a rescue or permanent home is needed. This past week we received a call for help from a 4 Paws 1 Heart follower who we’ve helped in the past. Here is her message:
“Mrs Diana, a family moved in down the street about two months ago and this is a very well…. let’s just say poor and uneducated family…. well today the little 7 year old comes to my house and says his dog’s gonna die; it needs some food. No one on this block, that I’ve asked knew they had a dog. It was being kept in the shed. Miss Diana, this poor dog is so skinny, I’d estimate him at about 40-60 lbs underweight, his ears are half gone from the flies eating them. I gained possession of the dog…. by God’s grace there was a free doghouse on CRAIGSLIST the minute I looked; it took me 20 mins to get. He was on a 2 foot leash standing in his own feces. I need help. I can’t keep him but I will foster him if you can help with his care. Idk how to treat a dog that looks this bad. He’s safe now in a clean doghouse on a rug in the backyard, he ate half of a huge bowl of food and almost drank the whole bowl of water. I’m going to clean up his ears the best I can now but we are gonna need help to save this baby. I will let him in the house after he gets cleared of disease and fleas… I don’t want to infect my pets.”
As always, we couldn’t turn away this poor boy, now known as Frankie. He was taken to one of our favorite vets, Dr. Steve, of Healthy Paws Veterinary Medical Center, and Frankie was found to be heart worm negative but very emaciated. Frankie received flea and heart worm preventative treatment and will be neutered when he is healthy enough, along with vaccines. He’s scheduled to see the doctor again in two weeks. Lauren, the rescuer, has reported that Frankie is quickly learning from the others in the household and is a real sweetheart craving affection and attention.
