A Gentle Soul Named Reggie

3/9/26: Sometimes the most special souls come from the hardest places.

Saint Reggie was found in Highland Park wandering the streets bloody, scared, wounded, and freezing cold. People in the neighborhood were frightened of him and asked if someone could please remove him from the block. But when his rescuer looked at him, something was clear right away. This dog was terrified, not dangerous.

Instead of walking away, his rescuer gently scooped him up, placed him safely in the truck, and got him out of the cold.

That night they stayed at the Red Roof Inn, giving Reggie the first real sense of safety he may have ever known. It didn’t take long to realize that despite everything he had been through, Reggie has the kindest heart.

Based on his condition, it appears Reggie may have come from a backyard breeder situation and likely experienced neglect early in life. He arrived unkempt, extremely dirty, and not house trained, clear signs that his past was not an easy one. But that past did not define his spirit.

Today, Reggie is safe, loved, and finally learning what it means to be cared for.

4 Paws 1 Heart has offered to cover the cost of Reggie’s neuter surgery and any needed vaccines, so he can continue on his path to a healthier future.

A Little Heart Worth Fighting For

3/6/26: Mochi Needs Your Help! This sweet little guy was found as a stray, and during his exam a heart condition was discovered. Now Mochi needs to see a cardiologist to determine exactly what is going on.

We have offered to cover the cost of his cardiology consult and echocardiogram typically $600–$800, so he can get the answers he needs and the best chance at a healthy future.

Unfortunately, most cardiologists are booked several months out, but we’re hoping to hear back today and get him on a cancellation list.

Until we know more, it has been difficult for the rescuer to place Mochi into a forever home without knowing what kind of long-term care he may require.

For now, we wait and hope for answers. Please keep Mochi in your thoughts and prayers.

A Late-Night Plea for Bubba and a Life-Saving Yes

2/24/26: Just before Valentine’s Day, I received a late-night message about a cat found outside in heartbreaking condition — discharge from his eye and a traumatic wound to his rear leg with damage to the bone that could not be saved.

His name is Bubba.

He needed emergency amputation surgery to survive. He tested FIV positive but the doctor felt he had a chance at a good quality of life with treatment, so we approved $2,000 to help save him..

“Bubba” is now safe with a rescue and recovering.

I reached out for an update and can’t wait to share how he’s doing.
