Mickey – Found Near a Cemetery, Drinking from a Muddy Puddle and Heart Worm Positive

2/8/17 – A few weeks ago we received a call from a friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart who we’ve helped in the past with animals she has rescued. She had been on her way to a local cemetery when she noticed a very thin dog drinking from a muddy puddle. Her first reaction was to go buy a burger and feed him but when she approached him, he was so kind and he looked so pitiful, she knew that she had to save him. Although Shayla and her family are doing the best they can to keep Mickey rested because of an extreme case of heart worm, she could really use some help because with her animals and an active family where both adults work, she worries that Mickey is not getting all of the attention he would like and need. Thus far, 4 Paws 1 Heart has paid for Mickey’s initial visit where it was discovered that he would need surgery for his cherry eye and also need treatment for heart worm. He will also need vaccinating and neutering.; although, it will be at least another month before treatment can start. On Sunday, I received another call from Shayla because her dog caught Mickey’s cherry eye and his Mickey’s eye was swelling. We made immediate arrangements for Mickey to see a vet that day. 4 Paws 1 Heart is committing to helping Mickey get happy and healthy again. ~ dianamicky w:shayla weston 1:15:17

Dusty – RIP Sweet Baby – Born from an 18 Year Old Barn Cat – Genetically, He Just Couldn’t Make It

2/7/17 – RIP Sweet Dusty, you were much loved! Jennell, Thank You for the beautiful, heartbreaking post. The vet told me she had never seen anything like it in her life. Her intestines took up her entire inside. It is the ultimate love when you no longer want to see a baby suffering who has no hope of being better. It is so sad when barn cats are not fixed because we know that a female can continue to give birth until the day they die. I can’t imagine Dusty’s poor mom who must have had so many litters by the time she was 18 years old. Some barn/farm owners won’t fix the barn cats because they want a steady supply of cats. And this is what happens, deformed babies that can die horrible deaths early in life. May God Bless You and your family. ~ dianadusty 2:7:17

Ginger – Crying for Help

2/7/17 – This is the time of year when so many dogs and cats are trying to find warmth and food. This is Ginger. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart, who has rescued many cats whom we’ve helped with, contacted me and asked if we could help with this very young, skinny and cold kitten who needed to see a vet. One night, a kind man, whose bedroom window was over the neighbor’s driveway, heard meowing from under the hood of the neighbor’s truck. After several days, he was able to catch this baby and took her up to his vet for a wellness check. The doctor told him she would not have survived had he not caught her. They estimated her at 8 weeks old. Ginger appears to have had an injury to one of her front legs that healed. It might have been a dew claw injury or a broken leg that healed. Our friend has taken Ginger under her wing and once 4 Paws 1 Heart has her leg examined, and has Ginger vaccinated and spayed (when she is healthy enough), she will look for Ginger’s forever home. Baby – Very Emaciated and Wandering Through the Woods Dying of Leptospirosis

2/6/17 – RIP Baby. Last Wednesday I received a call about this very sweet, emaciated dog who was found wandering in the woods. We immediately authorized a visit to the doctor where it was found that he was heart worm positive. He was so emaciated it was difficult to withdraw blood for further tests. Yesterday, I received the call that Baby was not eating and he had been vomiting and had diarrhea. My concern was Parvo. With the help of another rescue, we were referred to Dix Animal Hospital who was very willing to work with us and arranged for Baby to be seen asap. Upon examination and testing, the doctors suspected that Baby had contracted leptospirosis. This poor sweetheart had so many issues, it was recommended and we (the rescuers and I) agreed that Baby should not be put through any more suffering. He was humanely euthanized and now will no longer suffer or have to search for food and love. Upon finding Baby, the rescuers, deep in their hearts, felt that Baby would not survive but they wanted to make sure that he would not die alone and suffering in the woods. God Bless all of those wonderful people who don’t turn their backs and thank God for all of our donors who make our mission possible. ~ dianababy 2:6:17

Horace – Rescued Before Being Given to a High-Kill Shelter

2/5/17 – Another Super Bowl Happy Update: Horace before love and after love. Horace was being taken by his owner to a local, high-kill shelter. Fortunately, protestors at the site were able to get Horace surrendered to them and we were contacted about paying his medical. We did that but in the process found out our poor Horace is heart worm positive. Horace’s heart worm treatment will be covered by 4 Paws 1 Heart. Your donations give abandoned and abused animals a second chance at life. ~ dianahorace 2:5:17horace---2:5:17

Ozzy – Showed Up in a Cat Colony but Wasn’t Feral

2/4/17 – Just because a cat has been outside does not mean they are feral. My oldest baby was outside for 10 months and had already had a litter before we were able to bring her in. Today she is loving, although she doesn’t like to be held, and is always with us in every room. This is Ozzy. He was actually part of a colony living behind a commercial building and who was tnr’d a year ago. Lo and Behold, Ozzy is actually very domestic. The people working at the building were able to get Ozzy into a carrier and 4 Paws 1 Heart again took care of any current medical needs. She is now looking for her forever home. ~ dianaozzy w:roberta kretz 2:1:17

Sosa – Rescued from an Abandoned Home

2/3/17 – This beautiful girl, Sosa, was rescued from an abandoned home. Unfortunately, in so many urban neighborhoods, dogs are left to fend for themselves and, worse, very often their dead bodies are left on the streets. They are either the victims of accidents, dog fights, and neglect. Fortunately, Sosa, is one of the lucky ones who was rescued from certain death. Sosa’s medical treatment was paid for with donations made to 4 Paws 1 Heart. She is one beautiful dog. Please wish her a life of love. ~ dianasosa 2:3:17

Carlos – Died One Day Short of His One Year Anniversary with 4 Paws 1 Heart

2/2/17 – It was one year ago today that I posted the following story. We all wish we could have had him in our lives longer but I know without doubt that he was much loved and would not have had an extra year had it not been for your donations and the love of this foster mom and aunt. RIP Sweet Boy. Please say hi to my babies for me. xox Aunt Di

2/2/16 – Only through your donations can we make miracles happen.

This is Mr. C. Although we didn’t know much at the time we got involved, this very sweet boy had some real challenges. We don’t want to go into too much detail because of the manner in which 4 Paws 1 Heart became his savior but let me just say, the hospital staff fell in love with him and we had to give him a chance. The information we eventually received indicated that when Mr. C was a kitten, he had a tumor that needed removal and it resulted in most of his tail being amputated. Fast forward 5 to 6 years later, and once again, a tumor developed and went unnoticed until it burst. At that point, Mr. C was very much in danger and, once again, needed almost immediate surgery. After three days of being held in a hospital waiting while money could be raised for his operation, we were called in to help. On the fourth day, Mr. C’s burst tumor was removed and the remaining stump of his tail was amputated. He went to a great foster home the next day for recovery. Thankfully, his foster mom has had a great deal of experience with recovering animals and within a couple of days noticed that Mr. C was not moving his bowels. Mr. C again had to be returned to the hospital where it was determined that he was blocked. Again, a very dangerous situation for a little guy which resulted in another overnight stay in the hospital. Mr. C is now doing well. He is warming up to the foster house and is starting to heal. We still do not know anything about the tumor but we should get results this week. Once again, it was the work and donations of a village which saved this sweet guy’s life. He will one day need a forever home who can make sure he will never be in this position again. Remember, when you take on the responsibility of a life, it comes with a commitment to provide food, shelter, love, and medical treatment. ~ diana”carlos 2:2:16
