Pitter Patter of Little Paws.

Happy Memorial Day Weekend from our new batch of kitties who will be available at Cats Veterinary when they are old enough to be adopted. Here’s their story ~ diana

“The “Memorial Weekend” bottle babies.

“A good Samaritan found these babies in his garage. Because of our relationship with 4 Paws 1 Heart, we were able to take these little ones on and provide them veterinary care and to nurse these little ones into healthy adoptable kittens. So far all kittens have received 1 de-worming and have been tested negative for FeLV/ FIV. We have named the litter patriotically to celebrate their arrival to our clinic during the holiday weekend. Black Kitten, female “Summer”/ Tabby kitten with white paws , female”Liberty”/ Tabby kitten , female “Bell”/ Black with white- this is the runt “Honor”. ~ Jessica

Ryker is on the mend update!

After being attacked about 2 weeks ago by two large dog’s, Ryker was laying on the grass lifeless and helpless.. The homeowner didn’t know what to do because this was a stray that wound up on his property. He couldn’t watch Ryker die there, so he called for help and “4 paws 1 heart” stepped in to give Ryker a second chance, but he needed major emergency surgery asap to put his organs back where they were supposed to be. Then he needed another surgery because his back leg was broken in half. Due to the infection we had to amputate. Today he is doing wonderful and healing day by day…
Ryker has a lot of stitches and staples but he is alive, and he will make a very loving member of the family for someone out there… It’s taking him a little adjusting to the three legs, but his name means “Strength” and he is living up to it. We all love him and are looking forward to finding him a forever home

Kitties Kitties evey where….

If you think we are helping many cats lately, that would be an understatement. There are so many kittens being born on the street and yet there are people who continue to let their in-tact ‘pets’ outside. It’s bad enough to let your pet cat outside but to not have him/her fixed, is outrageous — not only for the cat’s sake but also the community. This little sweetheart was recently rescued by our 4P1H friend, Jo A. She was walking in the middle of the street. We were glad to be able to pay for her examination and vaccines and will pay for her to be spayed when ready. Fortunately, Jo believes she has a home lined up for her. ~ diana

Good people working together!

We received a call from someone who asked if we could help with a stray cat that had been wandering the streets for at least a year. We offered to help pay for medical if they were willing to hold on to the cat until a rescue was available for permanent placement. When the cat was brought in we tested her for feline leukemia and fiv and she tested negative, but we took an x-ray because her belly was big. We discovered she was very pregnant. Thanks to networking on our 4 Paws 1 Heart, page someone saw the story and was willing to help foster the mom until the babies are weaned. In the meantime, we’re looking for a rescue as backup for the kittens. The foster mom said Livingston County shelter is willing to take the kittens once they are old enough. The woman who initially found Precious will take her back and permanently give her a forever home once she is done nursing the kittens. ~ gina

Case #2 – Ryker

Sweet Ryker

Our other serious case: This little sweetheart, named Ryker – which means Strength, was also brought in by a good Samaritan. He was attacked by two German Shepherds. He underwent two hours of surgery with Dr. Rivera due to severe wounds to his body; his intestines and bladder were actually on the outside of his abdominal wall and needed emergency surgery that night. Gina has volunteered her time to assist Dr. Pillsbury of Harper Woods Veterinary/Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center with his surgery for a broken femur which is broken in half — possibly Tuesday, May 13. It is a clean break so we are all praying that a pin can be inserted versus amputation. We will keep everyone updated. ~ diana

Case #1- Helping Thunder!

We’ve taken on two very serious cases this past week-end and both little ones need your prayers and support. Although individual donations have been very slow, we continue to be thankful for all of our wonderful supporters who attend our fundraisers. Here is one of the babies brought into Cats Veterinary, Clinton Twp. and thanks to our partnership and medical funds provided by 4P1H, Thunder will have any treatment necessary, including a visit to a specialist if needed. Stay tuned. ~ diana

“Here is “Thunder” (named for the gloomy day and thunderstorm we are having). He has been surrendered to us by a good Samaritan. His right eye is incredibly inflamed. It is difficult to tell what the eye globe itself looks like underneath all the conjunctiva swelling. We will try medical management here- but he could possibly need an eye enucleation surgery. He also came in infested with fleas. He has been tested negative for FeLV and FIV. We will keep you up to date on the eye and what the doctors feel will be needed- for now we are trying antibiotics both orally and ophthalmic. Very sweet little boy, but nervous and probably feeling uncomfortable ( we are also giving him pain medications!)” Jessica, Cats Veterinary

Meet Mighty Mustang

4 paws 1 heart took in an 8 week old stray kitten that was seen hit by a car tonight. We are currently treating him for head trauma but he is stabilized. Please keep paws crossed that he responds to treatment and we can pull him through this! Thank you Evet for bringing him to Gina for help!  You saved his life!! As Evet said, everybody should have a name- he has been named Mustang – he might be little but he is mighty!
**May7, 2014 Update:  Although Mustang is not out of the woods, he is doing much better**

Remember Mr Honeybell

4/23/14 – Happy Update: Many of you may remember Mr. Honeybell. Our 4P1H friend, Dave, contacted us for help. He and his wife had been sheltering and feeding Mr. Honeybell (outside) after he was abandoned by his owners. With such a severe winter, Dave became very concerned for Mr. Honeybell’s well being and then he saw that the cat was limping. On January 23, 2014 with the help of our good friends from Paws For The Cause Feral Cat Rescue, Mr. Honeybell was taken to the vet. 4P1H paid for his medical treatment and neutering and we’re happy to say that Mr. Honeybell is very healthy, not limping, and slowly falling in love with his new family. Here is Dave”s latest update ~ diana:

“Just wanted to let you know that we have become great friends. He does something I have never seen. He grabs my arm with his front paws, roles on his back and pushes on it repeatedly with his hind paws… No claws… Then he gives me a nibble on the hand and kisses.” ~ Dave
