Viva and Her Kittens

Update July 22, 2012
These two kittens died yesterday morning. They were very sick and dehydrated. We are caring for the mom who is currently hospitalized. She was dehydrated as a result of a virus.

July 21, 2012

This is Viva. She was rescued by Warren Animal Control Officers Lisa and Kim. We shared her story earlier — she was found on the porch severely dehydrated having just given birth to 4 kittens. Two were laying there dead and 2 were near death. Viva was so young (7 months) and so severely dehydrated she couldn’t produce enough milk to feed her living kittens. The three were brought into Emergency where the remaining two kittens died. The mom, Viva, is still hospitalized by recovering. She is very sweet and affectionate.

Dodger – Thrown from a Car on I-94

This is Dodger. On June 17, 2012 he was thrown from a car on I-94. One of the staff at the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center witnessed the incident and rescued him. Dodger lost several teeth, bit his tongue in half and his lip was torn away from his jaw. His jaw appeared to be broken but he is now healing well. Dodger was taken in by Venus and her husband, Jeff, who were very willing to pay for his injuries. 4P1H insisted on paying for the medical treatment and they are keeping this 13 week old baby until she can be adopted out. They are currently working on trust issues with him. Let us know if you are interested in adopting him at a later time. ~ diana

Gussy (Stray Kitten ~ June Bug)

7/2/12 A Scooter’s ResQ will be taking June to help with finding him his forever home. Thank You!!

June was a stray found by some good Samaritans. We lost his sibling due to an unknown illness that she had. 4p1h has June hospitalized for dehydration and diarrhea. We expect him to recover and we will keep everyone posted. June is about 4 weeks old, male, black and white kitten who
will need to go to a rescue in a few days! ~ gina

Sick Stray Cat

I was contacted by a 4p1H friend about a cat who has been outdoors and suffering. The family said they called for help twice this weekend and no one would come out. This was Detroit. I made arrangements for the family to bring the stray to the hospital. We had to humanely euthanize this little one due to its grave condition. But because of the kindness and caring of this person, this homeless feline is now at peace and didn’t die alone.~Gina

Torti Kitten

Update: June 21, 2012. Just wanted to let everyone know that the little Torti who was being fostered by Gina has now been taken in by our friends at A Rejoyceful Rescue. If you are interested in adopting this little cutie, please ‘like’ their page and get in touch with them. Thank You, Michelle! ~ diana

June 19, 2012 This Tori kitten was brought in by a lady who found her.  4 Paws 1 Heart  tested her for feluk/ fiv = negative and dewormed her.  She is super sweet and about 10 weeks old.  At this time Gina is fostering her and needs a name.

Snap

Update Snap Update: June 19, 2012 – Snap has been taken in by the Michigan Animal Adoption Network.

June 6, 2012, Snap was an owner surrender due to financial reasons.  He was blocked meaning he couldn’t urinate because of an obstruction in his bladder. 4 paws 1 heart paid for the medical care and procedures to unblock Snap.  He then required major surgery prevent him from blocking again, and to survive.  Snap is doing great now and looking for a foster or a rescue group to find him a loving home.  Approx. 1 year old, MN, tabby, and front declawed…

Mitzi and Portia

Our special Councilwoman Candice Rusie, major animal advocate for the City of St. Clair Shores, rescued these two little cuties, Mitzi and Portia from a rental property.  Their four siblings were lying dead from unknown causes with no mother to be found.  Here’s her report after she took them into the Emergency to be vetted, compliments of 4 Paws 1 Heart ~ diana

“Both checked out ok.  They are little girls and are about 5-6 weeks old.  I am calling them Mitzy and Portia.  My mom had taken them to her work today where they found a lot of love and attention from the office staff.  The IT guy, who my mom has known for a few years, had his beloved pet cat pass away and is thinking about adopting them together.  He wanted to make sure they were adoptable (checked out healthy) first.  He does not have any other pets and he owns his house.  I have not met him yet but it is nice to know there may be some interest in a future home for them together.”

Protect Your Cats

Protect your cats: This is one of another litter of 4. We helped a 4P1H friend who had rescued 4 kittens. This kitten tested positive for feline leukemia and she had to be euthanized. Another reason why people need to keep their cat’s indoors; feline leukemia is spread by disease. May this little one rest in peace knowing he was loved at the end and didn’t have to suffer a horrible death. ~ gina

Litter of Strays

This is a litter of 4 strays brought to the clinic by a concerned woman who noticed their eyes were in terrible condition. Two kittens had to be euthanized due to the eyes being ruptured and the third kitten might lose his left eye. A concern with this surgery is that he is still a baby. We suspect exposure to chemicals could have caused this. No sign of upper respiratory infections. Healthy otherwise. Currently the two kittens who are left are receiving care…gina
