Pecan – Update – Transferred to a New Foster Mom

I’m so happy and relieved to say that this little girl is now being fostered in a home where she will no doubt thrive.
When I took Pecan it was only to get her through her most critical moments. Now she is with a good friend who is able to give her the attention, interaction, socialization, and love she so desperately deserves. She will see a specialist to determine her vision capabilities and she will still require surgery on the ruptured eye.
Pecan has a long road ahead with basic vaccines, spay surgery, and addressing her eye issues.
It’s the special little Christmas miracles like Pecan that heal us without even knowing it…

Hi Team, its me….Tiny!!!
Guess what?! I made 💩 annnnd I’m eating a little bit on my own!!! I’m still getting supplemented with syringe feeding of A.D. and still getting my meds. I even played a little bit with toys and made biscuits on my new blankets Chances mom brought me. Chances mom and Aunt Deb are taking great care of me until I’m all better and able to go home. Dont mind my eyes, that’s just the camera and my eyes are watery cus I’m super congested but I’m headed in the right direction so far so please still keep me in your prayers.

Kiki – She Jumped Into Her Rescuer’s Car and Wouldn’t Leave

12/30/20 -I think many of us will be very happy when this year is behind us and we can just pray that 2021 is an improvement. The good news, though, is that we’ve been able to meet the needs of every request we have received, even the most difficult. And, as I’ve said so many times, we can only do what we do because of our amazing supporters, veterinary staffs, and rescuers.
This is Kiki. A long-time friend of our co-founder, Gina, contacted us about a “skinny” black & white cat who came out of nowhere and jumped into her car and wouldn’t leave. A person in the neighborhood said that the cat had been hanging around the neighborhood bothering dogs and didn’t belong to anyone. The rescuer couldn’t get Kiki to leave the car and while the rescuer was trying to catch her, Kiki ran into the car’s hatchback which the rescuer couldn’t get into. The rescuer gave up and just drove off with Kiki still in the car. The minute she started driving, Kiki jumped into the rescuer’s arms and just sat there looking out the window and purring — calm as could be. Kiki, obviously, was not a feral cat and had either escaped from her home, or, like so many other cats we help, was abandoned by her owners. Well, Kiki was pretty smart because now she has her furever home with 4 siblings and is much loved.
We are thankful that we could help the rescuers get Kiki ready for her new home (which turned out to be theirs) and to make sure she will never have babies or be on the streets again. – diana

Hey Team, Mom here with an update on Tiny!
So last night I spoke at length with Dr. Z, my go to amazing vet at Orion Animal Hospital and also spoke to “Auntie Di” at 4 Paws 1 Heart this morning and the decision was made to transfer Tiny to Dr Zs this morning. Tiny was stable enough to leave our great friends at Advanced Emergency but not well enough to go home. And we wanted Dr. Zs experience and expertise and she agreed to take Tiny and also administer an Abdominal Ultrasound. Thankfully the ultrasound found nothing and Dr. Z believes that Tiny is now at the tail end of a pretty bad viral infection. All the supportive care at the emergency hospital pulled her through that. But with any cat who hasn’t eaten for 6 days, the worry now becomes fatty liver disease and having to insert a feeding tube. But the amazing Dr. Z and her crew were able to get a syringe feeding into Tiny. With another holiday weekend coming up we want to make sure Tiny could eat on her own if sent home so we agreed it would be best that Tiny stay at Dr. Zs tonight recieve more feedings and see if she will eat on her own overnight. But Tiny is definitely doing better and hopefully coming home tomorrow! Obviously although we were sure we had met our goal for Tinys care, she spent an extra day at the emergency hospital and was then transferred to Dr. Zs where she recieved an ultrasound, supportive feedings and hospitalized for tonight so any donation you can make on Tinys behalf would be so greatly appreciated at this time of covid and no fundraisers for so long. And with winter and this next storm coming there will be more emergencies requiring help and your donations assure that there will be funds for that next emergency. Thankyou Thankyou Team, your donations save lives ❤
Annnd the great news about Tiny turning the corner was a wonderful Birthday present for her caretaker who turned 90yrs old today! ❤

Delphine – Her Owners Gave Her Up Because They Couldn’t Pay the Needed Vet Bills

12/29/20 – Delphine was from an accidental litter. The owners were giving her up because they couldn’t take her to the vet. She had an upper respiratory infection, conjunctivitis, ear mites, and intestinal parasites Thanks to 4Paws 1 Heart’s generous donors, Delphine was able to be taken almost immediately to the vet and look at her just 3 days after taking antibiotics. – diana

Hey Team, Mom here. Ok…so heres the scoop.
Tiny appears to have something in her small intestines that is causing large gas patterns and a great deal of inflammation. That explains why Tiny is not eating or drinking and vomiting phlegm. The plan is for her to stay in the hospital overnight. She will stay on IV fluids and also she will be given barium. She will have xrays and gas tests every 3hrs to see if the obstruction is moving so it can be passed. She will also be given antinausea meds and appetite stimulant to try and get her eating to also help with the process of getting the obstruction moving. As I told you earlier, Tinys caretaker is 90yrs old and is physically disabled. Staying in the hospital is the best option to get Tiny back on her feet. But it comes at a pretty high cost. The current estimate for Tinys stay is between $830-$1130. We really, really could use your help on this one Team. Your donation would be greatly, greatly appreciated!!! Pecan – Update – Beginning to Eat

12/26/20 – “My Christmas Eve rescue made a babystep of improvement tonight.
In between the constant nasal discharge she was able to smell food. I had to put the camera down to help and it was a mess, but this is good! It’s been a struggle to syringe feed every few hours because she couldn’t breathe well. She also finally pooped and urinated on her own this morning! The left eye is just an empty socket and the right eye is very cloudy. She will rarelpecan 12:26:20y open it but the inflammation is beginning to go down.. Pecan will need to see an eye specialist and she may be blind, but she can still live a quality life with the right person. Sadie – Her Mom Was Killed by a Dog

12/26/20 – There continues to be so many cats in the cold and snow needing the help of humans. Christmas Eve we were contacted about Sadie. A very sweet, 8-9 weekd old kitten whose mom was attacked and killed by a dog. The finder didn’t have any shelter for Sadie and contacted an independent rescuer we have helped several times. Sadie also has 2 siblings who still need to be rescued. We have authorized the works for these sweet orphans and pray the siblings can be caught. Thank you to our many donors who continue to believe in us and donate their hard-earned dollars to help the abandoned and abused. – diana

Marshmallow – He Kept Showing Up at the Same House; Either Abandoned or Escaped

12/25/20 – As we all continue to pray for little Pecan, I, along with the 4 Paws 1 Heart Board of Directors, want to wish all of our friends, supporters, veterinary partners, and rescuers, a blessed Christmas. During these 12 days of Christmas, may you have that opportunity to enjoy, in some way, your family and friends, and, of course your furbabies who always love you unconditionally.
Here is Marshmallow with some of his new family members. He appeared to have been abandoned by his owners as he kept showing up at the home of his rescuer’s parents. He was in pretty bad shape but very domesticated. His rescuer took Marshmallow to the vet a few times for an ongoing ‘fungal’ infection in his ears but the problem has not gone away. Recently he was told that there is a growth which may be cancerous. The rescuer not only has paid out a considerable amount of money for this poor cat, who may be around 3-5 years old and who also is not neutered and has multiple broken teeth, but he is also dealing with his long-time pet dog who has been diagnosed with cancer and is at the end of her life.
We will be committed to Marshmallow in hopes that he can have a long and fun life with his new family. Again, thank you so very much for helping us give these abandoned animals a second chance at life. – diana

Pecan – Fighting to Live

“My Christmas foster baby Pecan is so very sick.. (I cleaned her nose right away but this is the constant drainage) I wish people would be less selfish and keep their cats indoors because when your cat gets a virus and infects other cats the weakest can die!!
No animal deserves to suffer.. Her one eye is already ruptured and she is only about 10 weeks old! IF she pulls through she will have permanent damage and possibly loss of vision in the only eye she has left. All because of a preventable virus that unvaccinated outdoor cats pass to one another.
I’m doing everything I can for her but that might not be good enough.
