Blu Blu – One of Ten Puppies Needing Rescue

8/31/17 – Meet Blu Blu – He was one of 10 puppies in a litter that the finder was contacted about. Although the finder tried to help more, she was only able to get Blu Blu and contacted us for medical help. We were happy to get Blu Blu what was needed to make sure he would be a happy, healthy, puppy. The family was going to find a good home for him but decided that their home, with two other rescue dogs, was the best. A huge thank you to all of the people who open their hearts and homes for these animals. Unfortunately, it is not known what happened to the other nine. ~ diana

Poppy – Living in an Abusive Situation; Heart Worm Positive

8/29/17 – A caring person learned of a dog being kept in an attic. The dog broke the window and was ‘barking’ for help. It was a very abusive situation and fortunately the dog went home with the rescuer. She was taken to an emergency hospital where the foot pad was found to be split and bleeding with a missing nail. Later it was learned that she was heart worm positive; that is when we were contacted. Poppy is one of the heart worm cases that we committed to and she has been on her 30 day pre-treatment and will be starting the injections soon. She is doing very well with the family but has not acclimated to the family dogs. Say a little prayer that this sweet animal will have peace and love. ~ dianapoppy 8:29:17

Nicko – Found, Heart Worm Positive, by a Caring Tow Truck Driver

8/16/17 – A caring tow-truck driver found Nicko roaming the street. Because the Michigan Humane Society was closed that day, he took her home. It didn’t take long for the family to get attached to her. Attempts were made to find an owner without success. The family decided to make Nicko their new family member and brought her to the vet to be spayed/vaccinated/tested. unfortunately, Nicko was found to be heart worm positive. The rescuer asked for our help so that they could give Nicko a happy, loving home. Nicko started her heart worm treatment on August 3 with one of our favorite veterinaries — Five Mile Animal Hospital. Another life saved. ~ diananicko 8:21:17nicko 8:21:17---

Celebrating our 7th Anniversary –

8/18/17 – Please help us celebrate our 7th Anniversary by making a donation to 4 Paws 1 Heart. It is only with your donations and support can we continue to make a difference in the lives of so many animals and the families who adopt them. As of today, we have paid $527,705 in medical bills for over 4,000 animals. And, looking ahead, we have made commitments for 2 heart worm cases, two eye removals, two amputations, and many spay/neuter/vaccinations coming up. If not for the creation of 4 Paws 1 Heart, these abandoned and stray animals would have either died horrible deaths on the street or would have been euthanized. As co-founder and President of 4p1h, I have to tell you how humbled I am by the amount of support we have received from our community of animal advocates. This includes the rescuers, the fosters, the veterinarians who work with us, and, most importantly, our donors, because without you, we could do nothing! I have developed unbelievable friendships through this journey and that has just been icing on the cake. Celebration donations can be made by using the donation link on this page or on our website, 4paws1heart.org , or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI . 48080. Again, thank you from the bottom of my heart and a huge ‘thank you’ from our Board of Directors. ~ dianamolly 8:201720842168_1616156641749961_317548170291374046_n20800226_1616156875083271_1536467099039270532_n20882101_1616157261749899_1284142395185997880_n

Coda – Rescued from the Streets; Tested Heart Worm Positive

9/4/17 Update – Unfortunately Coda died in an accident.  May he rest in peace. ~ diana

coda w:harry gordon 7:21:178/13/17 – I know I’ve already said this, but the overwhelming need continues. This is Coda. He was rescued from the street in July. We approved having him neutered, vaccinated, and tested. Unfortunately, it turns out that he is positive for heart worm. We will pay for the heart worm treatment but it is always a dilemma as to whether a heart worm positive dog should be spayed/neutered until he/she is heart worm free. Anyone familiar with dogs understands that behavior is very different when an animal is intact and finding a foster/rescue for an intact animal can be very difficult. Coda’s rescuer decided to have Coda neutered and he is doing well. Coda will start the 30-day pre-heart worm treatment. Anyone interested in Coda should contact [email protected] . ~ diana
