Lucky – Found on the Streets; No Owner Could Be Found

8/26/19 – Lucky (the Husky) was found on the streets without any tags or identification. For several weeks, the rescuers attempted to find Lucky’s owner. When no owner could be found, they contacted us for help with getting Lucky vaccinated, tested, and neutered. Thankfully, Lucky tested negative for heart worm and he is scheduled for his neuter. He has become fast friends with the rescuers’ other dog and has taken over the hearts of the family. ~ diana

Clara, Blondie, Hershey, Fera – Found on the Street Needing the Help of 4p1h

8/25/19 – A huge thank you for all of the love, votes, and donations. I sincerely can’t express how humbled I am, personally, by the support you’ve given us over the past 9 years. The number of animals we’ve been able to save has been more than we ever expected when we began this journey. And, what is not counted in the 6,000 animals who have been seen by our partner veterinarians, are the many animals who will never be born only to die on the streets because every animal we help is neutered or spayed.  Here are a few more of the kitties (Clara, Blondie, Hershey, Fera) we’ve helped along the way. ~ dianaclara 1:29:19 blondie 8:25:19 clara, blondie, hershey fera 8:24:19 fera 8:24:19

8/23/19 – Update:  Gabriel had his eye removal surgery and is doing great.gabriel w:candi lee 8:23;:19 gabriel 8:23:19 after surgery

8/22/19 – Please say a little prayer for Gabriel who I posted just a couple of days ago. He was to seen the doctor again tomorrow but today blood started gushing from his eye. He’s at the vet now and the doctor will try to fit him in for surgery today. If not today, he will be stabilized and have surgery tomorrow.

If you follow us regularly, you will know that we have had many serious cases this past Spring and Summer — everything from amputations to heart worm to eye removals. Our funds are going out faster than they are coming in. So, please if you can, take the opportunity to donate this week and have your donation doubled through the $1,000 match.

Only with your help can we make a difference for the animals and the people who save them. Thank You, diana

Fatboi – Anniversary Updates

8/21/19 – During this Anniversary Week, some of our friends have been sharing stories about the abandoned, stray, and abused who we’ve helped in the past. We are thankful for the stories they are sharing because they tell us how we not only changed the animal’s life but how we changed their lives. I remember Fatboi so well it was 2015 when we were called on to help with his many medical issues. I was heartbroken when we had to say goodbye but thankful for the love he gave his rescuer and the love she gave him. Here is what Lauren wrote:

“You guys ROCK! I LOVE 4 Paws 1 Heart. My Fatboi would not be saved without you all. From a “FREE DOG” that was on Craigslist that lived only outside, I went and got him because I was scared for him. We know what happens to “free dogs” especially when they look like this. He was sick and I did not know what to do. Finally, I found 4 Paws 1 Heart and Miss Diana got him right to a vet, even got us a RIDE because I didn’t have a car. He already had arthritis at 3 from being kept outside in a concrete pen, plus double ear infections, a kidney infection, and an unhappy belly. With the help of 4 Paws 1 Heart Fatboi got back to his healthy self and honestly was the best FRIEND I have ever had. A piece of my soul went with him when he crossed the Rainbow Bridge 2018. Thank you to 4 Paws 1 Heart for saving his life, because in turn, he saved mine

Remember that your donation can be doubled this week.

Gabriel – Found in a Garage With a Protruding Eye and Very Ill

8/21/19 – Two nights ago I received an emergency call about a kitten found in the garbage whose eye was protruding and he appeared very sick. Fortunately, we were still able to get him into a vet still open. Gabriel was stabilized but it was determined that his eye would need to be removed. His surgery is scheduled for this Friday. The rescuer took Gabriel home after the vet visit and he met another kitten who was recently rescued with a similar eye issue. The rescuer was a little apprehensive in introducing the two but, happily, they have become fast friends. Gabriel’s medical bills will probably be close to a little over $500 before all is said and done. We told the rescuer that if we can be successful in raising dollars during our Matching Campaign, we would help with Gabriel’s buddy (the black kitty). So, if you can help, it would be appreciated. Candice, the rescuer, said that Gabriel was immediately sleeping with her and was a purring machine. These animals would die a horrible death without all of us working together. – Diana

Sweet Pea – Happy 9th Anniversary Update

8/20/19 – Since Gina posted her Happy Anniversary to 4 Paws 1 Heart, many of our friends have been posting updates of the animals we were able to give a second chance at life. You can read most of their stories on our website: 4paws1heart.org or check out the ‘Notes’ on this fb page.

Here is Sweet Pea’s story from 2012:

7/6/12 The Eastpointe Animal Control Officer (ACO) was contacted by a groomer in Eastpointe reporting a case of serious neglect/abuse. He had a Pomeranian mix, male, neutered, 10 lbs. and about 7 years old. The dog was matted with feces with flies stuck to it and totally consumed with hundreds of maggots who had actually at holes in his poor little body; his nails were 1 and 1/2 inches overgrown. The ACO immediately took the animal to the East Detroit Animal Hospital who kindly stepped up to the plate without an advanced payment. There the maggots were removed and the dog was shaved but the dog still required additional veterinary care. The ACO contacted the owner to advise of the dire condition of the dog and to tell her that the dog needed additional medical treatment. She claimed that she had been in the hospital with a heart condition and her dog, Sweetpea, had been in the care of a friend. She also said that she didn’t have the money to take him to a vet or to pay the vet the ACO had taken him to for initial treatment. The ACO contacted Gina and asked if 4P1H could help. Gina told him that if the woman could produce proof that she was, in fact, in the hospital and proof of who had been caring for the dog, that 4P1H would help with the medical bills (although that is not typically what 4P1H does). The woman could not provide proof and obviously had been lying; it further appeared that the dog had just been neglected and kept in a crate. The woman wanted the dog back but the ACO miraculously talked the woman into surrendering the dog and brought the dog, after hours on his own time, to the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center. At the Center, Sweetpea was further treated for his infestations, stabilized, and put on IV fluids. He is totally traumatized by what he has been forced to go through. Charges cannot be pressed in Eastpointe because it turns out that the woman is a Detroit resident. If the City of Eastpointe does not pay the vet bill at the East Detroit Animal Hospital, 4P1H will pay that bill as well as the costs for the medical treatment and Sweetpea’s stay at the Critical Care Center. He should be ready for adoption in about a week.

Our dear friends at NBS Animal Rescue took in Peanut, who went through so much more afterward. But, look at him today! Please remember that none of use could do what we do without the support of our community. Also, this week you can have your donation doubled by donating at:

Petey – Found Roaming the Streets with a Cherry Eye, an Eye Infection, Ear Infections, and a Hip Wound

8/20/19 – Petey was found roaming the streets. This very sweet boy has a cherry eye and an eye infection, severe ear infections, and a wound on his hip. The rescuer attempted to find an owner without success. Petey was taken to one of our partner vets last week and he is scheduled to have his cherry eye removed and will also be neutered and vaccinated. He also had his infections and wounds treated. Every individual rescuer and rescue group we’ve helped, has regularly said “We don’t know where we could be without your organization. Thank YOU” – Diana
Please don’t forget about our $1,000 match campaign through 8/25/19.
