Winston – Update – Shot in the Paw and Requiring Amputation

12/1/15 – winston12:1:15Sorry for such a late update on our gun shot wound dog, but he was just finished a couple of hours ago.
The amputation surgery went very well and we were able to have him neutered at the same time. He is in recovery at the moment and resting comfortably with his pain meds. Huge thank you to Dr. Pamela Graves for doing this major surgery.
I’ve included a pic of his foot prior to the amputation, and as you can see his foot was shattered beyond repair. There was no way we could save the leg. Thank you for all the prayers. We’ll update again tomorrow. Gina

Winston – Shot in the Paw

11/30/15 – winston11:30:15This very sweet boy is in stable condition; unfortunately, he is scheduled to have his rear paw amputated some time over night. For those of you who missed the original posting last night, he was brought into the Emergency with a gun shot wound. His right foot was shattered. The actual wound was too graphic to post but he lost a great deal of blood. He was in shock and was immediately treated for that and pain. 4 Paws 1 Heart is covering his medical needs which will also include neutering, vaccinating, and a heart worm test when appropriate. Gina’s Angel, who was one of our first medical rescues, will be donating blood for the surgery. Any donations will be much appreciated. AND, if you donate tomorrow for‪#‎Giving‬ Tuesday, your donation will be matched (up to $1,500) by our Secret Santa. Donations can be made through Paypal on this page or our website 4paws1heart.org. Please share and say a little prayer for this very sweet dog who even in pain was wagging his tail as if to say Thank You for saving me. ~ diana

One Year Old Cats Thrown Out by Their Owner

11/30/15 – We received the following call for help from Jamie:

“Hello! I have a lawn care company and one of my customer’s neighbors decided she didn’t want her 2 cats anymore (about a year old) and kicked them out of the house. Another neighbor of hers has been poisoning feral kittens in the area so I decided to foster (maybe adopt) these cats. I was wondering if you offer any kind of assistance. They are very nice, friendly cats and I would like to make sure they stay healthy!”

Of course, we said yes. The kitties were taken to our good friends at the Humane Society of St. Clair (SNAP) and it was determined that everyone was already fixed. They were then tested for Felv/FIV and the results were negative. They received their basic vaccines and were good to go. Jamie just told me that she has fallen in love with them and will be giving them their forever home. YEAH!!! ~ dianacatw:jamie11:30:15kittenw:jamie11:20:15---

Farrah – Infested with Fleas and Worms and Found Alone in a Yard

11/28/15 – As of 11/25/15 we have spent $118, 177 in medical bills!!! Our bank account is at the lowest it has been in months, and once again I must be cautious as to what cases we can take on. At this time of the year, people are thinking about holiday shopping, decorating, and having fun with friends and family. I ask that you also remember all of the abandoned, stray, and abused animals who need are help and consider donating to 4 Paws 1 Heart. Without your donations we cannot get these babies off the street, healthy, and into good homes.

This is Farrah. A 4-5 week old baby who was found in a yard. She was infested with fleas and worms. After visiting the vet, complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart, and getting treated, she is now just a kitten again. She purrs when her foster parents just walk in the room. Farrah is another one of our great stories because she already has a home lined up when she is healthy enough. Thank you to our new Board member, Tami R., for rescuing her. ~ dianafarrah11:28:15

Dino (aka Sonic) Happy Holiday Update

11/27/15 – Starting the holiday season with another happy beginning. The story of Sonic – now known as Dino. Here he is when he was first brought into the emergency and as he is today wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving with his very loving mom, Liz. Just in case you are new to Dino’s (aka Sonic) story, here it is. ~ diana

It was 9/30/14, shortly after he was brought into the emergency after being attacked by a large breed terrier that Gina reported this update: “Last night this 12 week old kitten underwent major surgery to repair the holes in his body wall. He also needed a feeding tube placed because of the damage to the roof of his mouth. Today, he is recovering better than we expected, but it could take several weeks before his mouth heals. Sonic not only survived a dog attack but he survived the surgery which was a risk, for a 3# young kitten. He is full of kisses, purring, and so full of appreciation today.” It was a couple of months later when Sonic was adopted by dear friends of ours but again he needed surgery for teeth damaged during the attack. He came out of the surgery like the champ he is. ~ dianadino2014 dino11:17:15

Jackson, Michigan – More Cats Who Will Never Have to Reproduce Again

11/25/15 – This has been the year for helping those individuals who refuse to turn their backs on animals in need. Chef Krissy Kerwin is one of those people. She has not only rescued strays but she has stood up to people who were ready to dump their animals where they would have surely suffered a tortuous death. Here are a few more of those babies whom we worked with Krissy to save. All except the last cat (who is feral and the dad of Bunny (posted earlier) are in their forever homes. ~ dianaKrissyKerwin11:27:15**KrissyKerwin11:27:15##krissykerwin11:27:15+++krissykerwin's11:27:15
