Reggie – Rescued from the Street with a Prolapsed Rectum Caused by Diarrhea

Reggie w:313 k9 and kitty rescue 4:20:16 4/20/16 – After being rescued and taken to a vet by a very kind man, Reggie, was released to a rescue this morning and brought to anotherveterinary. 4 Paws 1 Heart is paying for Reggie’s medical treatment, as promised. Here is a report from the rescue. Say a little prayer that Reggie will recover without additional surgery. He is quite a handsome fellow~ diana

“They couldn’t get a fecal because he pooped on the lawn when we picked him up. So as soon as he poops I’m going to run it back to our veterinary. They took blood, most of those results will be available later. The heart worm results will be available tomorrow.
His rectal stitches look good he and his rectum itself appears to be holding. It’s been in for 4 days, the doctor wants to leave it in for 2-3 more days & then take it out to see how he does. If it doesn’t hold, they’ll have to go in through his stomach & pull it back & stitch it up from the inside. He said about 90% of cases don’t need that procedure because what he has now usually corrects it.
He lost 8lbs in the 5 days since he was initially rescued. He weighs 41lbs now. He’s pretty skinny. Lol… He kept stealing bags of dog food off the shelf at the vet & walking off with them. The vet said to give him chicken & rice the next few days.
He really likes other dogs. He wanted to play with everyone at the vet. He’s really friendly & sweet. The vet estimates his age at about a year – year & a half. ~ Shawn”

Gracie – Rescued from a Wheel Well

4/20/16 – My little Luigi, now 7 years old, was rescued by public safety officers in Harper Woods — he was stuck in a wheel well and was brought to Gina when they finally got him out. The officers called him crazy and feral but Gina took him in to her little adoption program at Moore’s Veterinary. I called Gina to see if she had a little Italian black and white cat and the best cat ever (don’t tell our other two) walked into our lives.

So, when I was contacted about this sweet little 4-5 week old who was stuck in a wheel well — you know we had to help. Gracie was rescued by a wonderful couple who had just lost their 17 year old cat. It must have been fate because little Gracie can now help fill a little bit of the emptiness in their hearts. As always, we are grateful to all of the caring individuals who don’t turn their backs on innocents in need. We wish Gracie and her new mom and dad many years of happiness and love.~ dianagracie 4:20:16

Odin – After One Year Finds His Perfect Family

4/19/16 – So after so many disturbing stories about the treatment of innocent animals, I wanted to give our friends the GREAT news!! Our little Odin has been officially adopted. You may remember that Odin suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car. He was brought to the Emergency where 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for his medical treatment and Gina took him into her home during his recovery. High energy Odin loved Gina’s baby, Angel, but he longed for a family of his own. One year later, Odin has found the perfect family!!! He has fur siblings, human siblings, a mom who is a trainer and a dad who is very excited to make Odin a member of their family. After only a short while, Odin has made himself at home (he’s the guy at the bottom of the photo). Good Luck, Sweet Boy. We are so happy for you. xox ~ diana

Cherry – Rescued as a Stray; Emaciated and Sick

4/18/16 – We can accomplish nothing if we fail to work together. This is Cherry who is now ready for adoption from our friends at A Hopeful Heart Rescue. A Hopeful Heart has been a great friend to 4 Paws 1 Heart — not only for helping us with placement for those animals we help with medical treatments, but for always being there with advice. We are happy to pay it forward by providing some medical dollars for all of the animals they save, like Cherry. Here is her story: ~ diana

“Meet Cherry! Cherry was found as a stray. When Cherry was found she was extremely thin and was having an allergic reaction to something and full of yucky worms. Cherry is now completely healthy and ready for her new home! Cherry is a 2 year old terrier mix. She is pretty small, gets along with other dogs and cats. Her favorite thing in life is playing with kids. ~ A Hopeful Heart Rescue”

The Lil’ Stinkers – Just 1 Day Old and Found in a Flower Pot at Home Depot

4/17/16 – The Ferndale Cat Shelter/Catfe Lounge is another great partner to 4 Paws 1 Heart. Not only have they taken in cats/kittens we have helped medically but they had the vision and fortitude to open the first cat cafe in Michigan. They will be taking in these sweet babies who were rescued by Debra B. and Denise N. from a flower pot at Home Depot. They were one-day old and the mama was never found. Today, they are close to 6 weeks old and thriving. We are thankful that we can reciprocate by providing medical dollars to their rescue. ~ dianaThe Lil' Stinkers 4:17:16

Aura – Rescued From the Streets with a Severe Eye Condition

4/16/16 – 4 Paws 1 Heart is happy to pay for Aura’s visit to Dr. Easton of Veterinary Vision of Rochester. We will also work with our friends at Bully’s Angels once Dr. Easton makes her recommendations. ~ diana

“This is Aura, our newest Bully. She is an affectionate girl of 2 and a half years, who loves kids, and her own “baby” (it’s actually a stuffed whale, not a puppy, but we won’t tell her if you don’t). Aura has a condition known as Distichiasis, which means hairs are growing out of her eyelids where there should be none. They rub against her eyes causing damage to the cornea, which of course causes her lots of pain. She is scheduled to see a specialist on the 25th, so we can find out how to save her eyes. Please keep this sweet girl in your hearts, thoughts, and prayers. We will update you soon. ~ Bully’s Angelsaura w:bully's angels

RIP – Sweet Sheena of Mutts of Motown

4/16/16 – In memory of Sheena, 4 Paws 1 Heart is thankful that we can help our very good friends, Mutts of Motown, with some of their medical bills. Mutts of Motown has helped us several times and there is no doubt in my mind that these dollars will be well spent on animals who have no one else to care. Here is Sheena’s story:

“Our senior Sheena passed away last night in one of her two loving foster homes. She was a beloved member of our mutts family and had been with us for almost three years. She was having some issues eating, and the cancer that was causing those issues took over. She passed peacefully with one of our volunteers at her side. She didn’t suffer, and she knew she was loved. She knew the safety and love of two different homes and thrived at both places. She was a fun girl who howled if you sang to her, and loved car rides and beggin strips. Our losses seem to keep coming this year and this happens sometimes especially to rescues that take seniors and issue dogs Please bear with us if we are a bit behind on our calls, and emails. Our volunteers loved her dearly and we are all devastated. ~ Mutts of Motown”12985347_1134276943271269_2454949113227021198_n

Sweetpea- She Was Probably Someone’s Pet at One Time

4/15/16 – Meet Sweetpea. A very caring person sent us the following message:

“hello i rescued a kitty from outside that was on the brink of death. she was very hungry and dehydrated ( still may be). I’ve been trying to get in touch with rescues for help but no luck. She is a very lovable kitty that we have been calling Sweet Pea. I am willing to keep her but I cannot afford to take her to the vet and get her checked out to make sure she is not sick I need to get her looked at to make sure she doesn’t have any illness’s that my cat can get. if you can help me in any way i would appreciate it and she would have a forever home here with us!”

Well, of course, we are happy to help. Sweetpea will be spayed, vaccinated, and tested (and scanned for a microchip just in case). A huge thanks to this wonderful family who didn’t turn their back on this very sweet girl. ~ diana
