Toepfer – He Would Have Died in the Street

5/14/16 – It was late January of this year when Suzanne contacted us about this very sweet boy lying in the middle of a semi-main street. 4 Paws 1 Heart was happy to pay for neutering, vaccinating, testing, and minor treatments and even happier that Suzanne was committed to trying to find him a permanent home. We’ve since decided that Toepfer has adopted her and her home is where he will stay. YEAH! Here is Suzanne’s update:

“Toepher update: I’ve yet to find someone interested in adopting him, but he is learning much about being an indoor kitty, including playing with my Daisy, playing with toys, and how yummy treats can be. He also gave me two lovely things for mumma’s day. A kiss on the upper cheek and a snuggle in my arms which led to quite a long nap. He is learning to be such a lovebug! Thank you for assisting me in giving him a more comfortable and safer life full of love and fun. You’re awesome! Suzanne”toepfer5:14:16

Franny – Wandering the Streets, Heart Worm Positive

5/13/16 – This beautiful girl was found wandering the streets. She had no identification and after being held by animal control for five days, no one claimed her. She was taken to a veterinarian for vetting and was, unfortunately, found to be heart worm positive. The animal control officer contacted us and asked if we could pay for the heart worm treatment; if so, she had a rescue willing to take her. How could we turn our backs on a face like this??? Franny has been going through treatment. Anyone interested in her should check out Care Rescue. Thank you again to our many supporters who help us make miracles happen. ~ dianafrannyw:lisaofcarerescue5:10:16

Phoenix – Saved from a House Fire

5/12/16 – Please continue to keep sweet Phoenix in your prayers. She remains traumatized from her experience in a house fire where over 50 cats were found dead. She was just one of seven who made it out alive due to the compassion and skills of the Detroit firefighters. Last night she was given the duty to give the ‘goodnight’ post. ~ diana

“Uh…hello everybody, I’m Phoenix. Chance says it would be good for me to do the nitenite post so I’m going to give it a try. I’m doing a wee bit better today making eye contact and even giving an occasional wink. I’m super sad about losing so many of my friends in the fire, and really scared when I hear any strange noises or see sudden movement. I don’t want to be picked up right now and feel safer in my cat tower for now. But my foster mom says not to worry, nothing and nobody’s going to hurt me and I can just take all the time I needs to feel better. Chance & the Gang take turns keeping me company and my foster mom and Aunt Shelly spend lots of time whispering sweet words to me and giving me gentle pets. And when I’m feeling better 4 Paws 1 Heart will be taking care of my shots and what ever I might need medically. But for now I’m just going to rest and try to look toward the future. Thankyou everybody for all your prayers, keep sending them becuse I still need them and I know they are helping me. So goodnite everybody Love Phoenix

P.S. Thankyou Cynthia & Jeannie for your help & guidance.”phoenix 5:11:16

Aura – Gets Ready for Eye Surgery

5/12/16 – Our good friends at Bully’s Angels contacted us after sweet Aura was rescued from the streets. We were asked if we could assist with Aura’s eye issues. We scheduled Aura to visit our ‘go-to’ eye specialists, Veterinary Vision, and they came back with this report. This may be more detailed information than most would want to read but I thought our friends might be interested in this condition. Aura will have her surgery today so please say a little prayer that her surgery goes well. ~ diana

Medical Report: “A dog’s upper eye lid normally has between two and four rows of eyelashes while the lower lid has none. Distichiasis is a condition where extra hair arises from or near the meibomian (oil) glands. Often this condition is asymptomatic, however, when the hairs come into contact with the cornea or conjunctiva, mild blepharospasm, conjunctivitis and occasionally corneal ulceration may occur. Often times it is not the distichia hairs that are the problem but rather ectopic cilia which emerge from the palpebral conjunctiva and usually impinge directly on to the cornea.

Aura also has entopion of her inferior lids OU. When these lids roll inward, irritation to the corneas can be significant, much more so than usually occurs with distichiasis alone. The degree of spastic entropion versus true entropion is difficult to assess in Aura’s case, thus temporary tacking sutures will help evert eyelids from their current entropion and allow us to assess her more accurately. Regardless, surgical correction of entropion and electropilation of all visible distichia have been advised.”aura w:bully's angels

Christian – Brought Into Emergency with a Screw In His Stomach

5/11/16 – He came to us with pneumonia and a screw in his stomach. Christian was 12 weeks old and forced to live in a garage. That is where the breeder kept his pups until they were sold. After lots of medical he was adopted by an amazing veterinary technician. Christian has needed some medical care along the way, but he has the perfect mommy who hasn’t given up on him. Here he is when he first came to us, his x-ray showing the screw, and today in his forever home. ~ Ginachristian before 2016 christian xray 2016 christian 5:11:16 Christian 5:11:16---

Poppy and Her Siblings – In Critical Condition Because of Parvo

5/10/16 – Our good friends at Misfit Angels Rescue needed our help and we were happy to be there for them. They recently took on 4 puppies surrendered by their ‘owner’. The babies had been taken from their mama way too soon and were under five pounds. They were full of worms. Soon after taking them in, one puppy started showing symptoms of Parvo and had to be taken into the hospital immediately. Since then two of Poppy’s litter mates started showing the same symptoms. They all continue to be hospitalized and we are praying that they make it. Thanks to all of our friends who help us support our friends. ~ dianachristian before christian 5:10:16

Kittens of Spring, 2016

5/10/16 – It all started a couple of weeks ago when an emergency hospital contacted us about two kittens brought in by a caring man who had found them living under a mobile home. 4 Paws 1 Heart agreed to pay for their medical care in that they both suffered from upper respiratory infections. But, the man advised there were at least two more plus the mom. With the help of our Village, the two kittens went to a foster home and, of course, we called in the master trapper extraordinaire, Debra Berolatti to help trap the others. Debra was quickly able to catch the third baby but the fourth and the mom were elusive. Then, just a few days ago, the mom was trapped and we were able to get her spayed and vaccinated. But, the fourth baby was still unattainable. Fortunately, this now became a challenge for our friend, Debra. She knew the baby was there and we were all concerned about her survival, especially knowing that all of the babies had upper respiratory infections. The kitten’s meows could be heard under the mobile home behind the insulating walls. So, Debra went in fully clothed and ready to rescue this baby. Thankfully, she was successful and, what we hope, is the last kitten, weighing much less than the others, was rescued! The entire family is now with our friend, Patricia Brown. They will be soon looking for their forever homes. We think that mama was a lost cat or dumped by her owners because she is not feral. Anyone interested in any of these sweeties should contact: [email protected]

All medical will be paid by 4 Paws 1 Heart before the family goes to their forever homes. ~ dianakittens 5:10:16 kittens w:debra 5:10:16 kittenw:debra5:101:6 catw:debraberolatti5:10:16

Binx – Found Under a Mobile Home with Medical Issues

5/9/16 – Thank God for all of the rescuers and fosters in our communities. Not to mention, the generous people who donate to 4 Paws 1 Heart. This is Binx. His three siblings and mom have been living under a mobile home. A caring man was able to catch two of the litter and brought them into an emergency hospital because they were suffering from upper respiratory infections. Later, Binx was caught with the help of our friend Debra and today their mom was caught and brought to the vet to be spayed and vaccinated. There is one more left from the litter who we are hoping gets caught soon.

Poor little Binx had to go to the vet the other day because his belly and anus appeared to be extended. Here’s the report from his foster mom. Please say a little prayer each night for all of these innocents who are left on the streets to fend for themselves. ~ diana

“Thank you 4paws1heart for being there for us. Poor Binx had a 3/4 inch ball of poop that he tried to pass but it was stuck on his bum and he was so sore and irritated that we wanted to get him checked out just in case. I had to give him a bath just to dislodge it! The vet is checking for worms and other parasites. All in all, he checked out healthy, heart and lungs are good and his eye is cleared up from an upper respiratory infection, so I’m just watching to make sure he isn’t constipated right now. Here is the poor guy after another bath when we got home as he was a mess after ‘his accident’ in the carrier. He is all tuckered out! – Patricia”Binx5:9:16

Romeo – Left Behind After His Mom Died – Happy Update

romeo5:5:165/7/16 – Words can’t express how gratifying it is to get such happy updates about the animals we’ve been able to help. I also have to give a huge shout out to Debra Berolatti and Denise Najera who were instrumental in saving Romeo. After their initial visit, they returned with a saw to make the hole larger for Romeo to get through. It truly does take a village. ~ diana

“Woohoo!!! A message from our past foster Romeo!!!!

“Hi Team Chance, remember me…Romeo??? Remember me being stuck in that wall for 2wks when my owner died? And remember how I only weighed 8lbs when I was found??? Well, I’m doing wonderful in my new home with my new mom and I’m quite spoiled…and I now weigh over 15lbs!!! So I just had to pop in and show you all how wonderful I’m doing and to remind you about the miracles that can happen when 4 Paws 1 Heart puts your donations to work!!! Miss you my buddy Chance, Love you 4 Paws 1 Heart!
