7/6/17 – We were happy to partner with our friends at Wilson Veterinary Hospital to save this sweet little girl found in a wheel well. Thank you to Amber for rescuing her and taking her to the hospital. She is available for adoption through the Sparky Fund at Wilson’s. ~ diana

Luna – Thrown Out By Her Owner
7/4/17 – Please, please spay/neuter your pet. This is Luna. Her owner has severe schizophrenia and for reasons unknown, he threw her out and she has been living under his house since December. We were contacted by a caring person who took her in and needed medical assistance — Luna appeared to be pregnant. Luna was seen by one of the many veterinarians we work with and it was confirmed that she was pregnant with possibly two kittens. Unfortunately, she was also found to be positive for feline leukemia. Luna is just a kitten herself and is very affectionate even though she has been through so much. Well, 16 days after the initial call out for help, Luna had 4 kittens — 3 grey and 1 black. Luna’s rescuer is continuing to seek out a home for Luna once she has weaned her babies and we are praying that the kittens are not leukemia positive but we won’t be able to confirm that for a number of weeks. Please pray for this very sweet little family and thank you to Kathy Durham for saving Luna and the babies. ~ diana
Buster – Surrendered by His Owner Diagnosed with Cancer; Fights for His Life
7/3/17 – Please say a prayer for Buster. Buster was surrendered by his family when his owner was diagnosed with cancer and they could no longer care for him. After a recent visit with his former family, he became very lethargic and had a decreased appetite. We authorized Buster to be seen by a veterinarian and it was determined that he may have been exposed to leptospirosis. Buster received treatment and we are awaiting the blood work results. He also appears to have contracted kennel cough. We will keep you updated. ~ diana7/5/17 – RIP Sweet Buster. I’m sorry we couldn’t do more. ~ diana

Kittens – No Matter How Much We Do, the Need Never Ends
Fiery – Hit By Car and Didn’t Survive
6/30/17 – It was the night of the Detroit Fireworks when I received a call from one of the independent rescuers we often assist. A dog had been hit by a car earlier in the day and it appeared the legs were broken. I authorized the dog to be taken to the emergency and, finally, at about midnight, this very injured dog was seen by the doctor where it was determined that the pelvis was broken, there was severe trauma to the head, and other injuries. The doctor decided humane euthanasia was the best for this poor soul. Rest In Peace sweet one. We wish we could have done more. ~ diana
Lexi and Jude – With Severe Upper Respiratory Infections, They Could Have Died
6/29/17 – What would happen to all of these abandoned, stray, and lost animals if there were no good samaritans, generous veterinarians, and 4 Paws 1 Heart. Here is Lexi and Jude. Lexi was rescued with a severe upper respiratory infection. On the way to the vet, Jude was rescued and was gathered up to see the vet at the same time. As always, 4 Paws 1 Heart will always be there for animals in need — as long as we have the funds. ~ diana
Lucky – Hit by a Car
6/28/17 – I’ve said it before and I will say it again — we couldn’t accomplish what we have (over $512,000 in medical payments for over 4,000 animals) without our friends. I want to recognize Yuki Canoy who had met us at a fundraiser being hosted by a another 4p1h friend. Yuki raised over $1,800 in donations by Running For A Cause. Without our friends we could not help the abandoned and abused like Lucky. We received a call from Kelly Hook who happened to be on the scene of a cat being hit by a car. The cat was huddled along the side of a building. She got him in the car and immediately called us. Although he was not bleeding or showing external signs of injury, we had Lucky go to the emergency hospital. Upon examination, Lucky appeared to have no injuries but it was found that his poor little paws were badly damaged from a life on the streets. His paws were treated with antibiotics and wrapped to hasten healing. Lucky is now with our good friends at A Hopeful Heart Rescue and if you are interested in Lucky, please contact them. ~ diana
Sweetie – Found With a Ruptured Wound
6/26/17 – We were contacted about this cat who showed up at a rescuer’s home two weeks ago. About a week ago she noticed a sore on his back. She asked around the neighborhood to see if he belonged to anyone. No one claimed him, so she brought him in the house and started cleaning the sore with anti-bacterial soap a couple days ago. Tuesday morning the sore ruptured and we were contacted last night to see if we could help. Of course we did and he was treated last night. I really don’t know what would happen to these animals if it weren’t for caring rescuers, and 4 Paws 1 Heart and the people who support us . ~ diana
Lulu – Her Owner Died and the Family Members Didn’t Care
6/26/17 – This little one was found running in the middle of the road and while good samaritans were trying to rescue her, she got hit by a car. We were contacted because she was bleeding and there was concern about her injuries. She was immediately taken to a vet with our authorization and a microchip was found. Unfortunately, it was found that her owner had died and that she was left to family members who were contacted. Because of property/hold laws nothing could be done other than of an emergency nature so we made sure she was not in pain and was treated with antibiotics. As of today, the family has not returned the call and the person who rescued her has found a rescue who will take her in. Lulu is fine at this time but we will do whatever is necessary when needed. ~ diana
