11/13/17 – Ruby is a puppy that was found at the end of June running the streets of Grand blanc by someone who claimed to have “rescued” her. It was reported that if placement wasn’t found, the ‘rescuer’ would be releasing her.
Ruby was covered in scabs; half of her right ear was missing. She was scrawny and malnourished; her collar was so tight it left a sore on her neck and she was scared of everything. Friends of Scooby Rescue was contacted for help.
A foster was found and this scared female was named ‘Ruby’. At Ruby’s first vet visit it was discovered that the scabs were from demodex mange. She was given her first set of vaccines, dewormed, given anti-biotics for all of her open sores and set up for mange treatment.
She has since received her final vaccines, finished the mange treatment, been given the all clear health wise and started on heartworm prevention. She has flat feet from spending to much time in a crate as a young puppy – proper nutrition, vitamins and exercise have made a huge difference already. Once she is healed from her spay she will be ready for adoption.
4 Paws 1 Heart was happy to assist our friends at Friends of Scooby Rescue with Ruby’s medical. Anyone interested in this sweetheart should contact Megan at: [email protected]

Mac – Almost Killed in a Shelter and Then Returned by His Adopter After He Ingests a Bead
11/11/17 – A Happy Update as we remember all of the veterans who have served our Country. ~ diana
“Mac was about 6 months old when he was intercepted by protesters at Michigan Anti-Cruelty back in February. He was vetted and went to a foster who planned to adopt. He ingested a bead from her dangling crystals lamp shade and it blocked his intestines. The new owner didn’t offer to pay a single dollar and said she would choose euthanasia over the expense of surgery so I, of course, took him back. He later went to that lady in St. Clair Shores whose check bounced. After a couple months she said he became jealous of the dog and aggressive if the dog was around. Again, Mac was returned. He had several meet and greets, but hadn’t found a home until Maria. She and her husband are smitten and it appears he is finally in his forever home. Thank you so much for helping with Mac’s medical bills and helping to find him a home by networking on Petfinder and making him the cover photo on the Friends of 4Paws1Heart page. Here are some before and after photos. – Lori”
Honeydew – UPDATE: Found Heart Worm Positive and Pregnant — a Rescue Takes Her In
11/10/17 – UPDATE: Honeydew was also found to be pregnant — maybe two weeks away from birthing. Thankfully, the rescuer found Canine Companions who found room for this very sweet dog. They have a foster who will keep Honeydew through birth and nursing and will take care of the puppies and Honeydew when they are all healthy and ready. We have offered our additional medical assistance.
11/10/17 – Update on Honeydew. Honeydew was found wandering on the streets. She was anxious to be saved; very emaciated and full of fleas. 4 Paws 1 Heart agreed to pay for Honeydew to be spayed/vaccinated/tested. Unfortunately, she was found to be heart worm positive. As our friends know, once we commit, we don’t walk away. Honeydew will be treated for her heart worm; keep her in your prayers. ~ diana
Eddie – UPDATE: Feline Leukemia Positive — Finds His Forever Home
11/9/17 – An update on Eddie from our boy Chance:
“Hellooo Team Chance, it’s that time of night again for us to get our treats, kisses & cuddles..say our prayers, count our blessing and snuggle up together. We are so grateful to all our friends for your overwhelming response to our call for help for our KittysHelpingKittys Program. The food has been pouring, and we couldn’t be more grateful for your love & support for the kitty’s in our program, thankyou from the bottom of our hearts ❤.
Today we received the results of Eddies IFA test, sadly he is definitely positive for the Feline Leukemia Virus. It makes us sad because it was so preventable had his owners been more responsible. But…the good news is that Eddie will be safe & loved in a wonderful sanctuary designed to care for Eddies special needs. Eddies one very lucky boy thanks to some amazing people who have went above & beyond for him. Thankyou to his rescuers Donna & Cindy, and Marjorie Treppa, Martha, Auntie Debra & Lisa. And thankyou 4 Paws 1 Heart who backed all of Eddies medical & special testing. Because of all these people Eddie will be able to live out his life with love & dignity, safe, warm & happy ❤ Please, please…spay, neuter, vaccinate & KEEP US SAFE INSIDE!!!! Sweet dreams everybody, we love you! Love, licks, purrs, woofs & mews ❤ Chance & the Gang”
Baby – Found on the Streets with an Ulcerated Eye
11/9/17 – This beauty was another sweet animal found on the street — either lost or abandoned but no owner could be found. 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for her to be spayed/vaccinated/tested/treated for fleas but a couple of weeks after she was rescued, it was noticed that her eye may be ulcerated. She was again taken to the vet and was treated and now it looks like she will have her forever home. Every time I think about what these poor animals go through alone, on the streets, it makes me heart sick. Then, great people come along and save the day. Wishing Baby a happy, long life!! ~ diana

“It’s official! Our boy John, now Furby has been adopted. This little boy has a special place in my heart. When he came to us, we weren’t sure he was even going to make it and now look at him. Special thank you to Charlotte Yakima and Lori Shafer for giving this boy and his brother Frank a fighting chance. My dear friend Sylvia Fletcher and her wonderful family adopted him and we couldn’t be more thrilled. Thank you 4 Paws 1 Heart for covering his medical costs. Also, as always thank you to anyone who took the time to share this sweet little boy! – Heather”
Jane – Thrown Out By Her Owners
11/7/17 – As has been very typical this year, we were contacted by an individual rescuer who could not turn her back on this sweet cat thrown out by her owner. Here was the message: “Good afternoon!
My name is Riley Hartwig and I heard about your organization from my coworker. I have a 2-3 year old cat that was thrown out and ended up coming back to their owners house and the owner did not want to keep her after she came back and wanted to take her to a shelter but I didn’t want her to sit in a cage so I took her in and decided to help. She ended up coming back with what looks like a missing toe, a cut on her neck and the pad of her foot is cut slightly also. I know she also does not have any shots or has been fixed. I want to be able to help her get back to her healthy self and everything she needs and find her a home but I’m also a college student and trying to pay bills and I just need some help to pay for the bills she’ll have. I haven’t taken her to the vet yet because I don’t know which one I should go to help her fully and wondering if your organization can help with which one I should go to and for some of the cost.
Please and thank you!”
Of course, we said yes, and hopefully, Jane will have a forever loving home. ~ diana
Chance – Found on the Streets Testing Positive for Heart Worm
11/6/17 – Chance was rescued from the streets and we were asked to help with the typical ‘vetting’ which includes neuter, vaccines, and treatment for fleas and parasites. Unfortunately, Chance tested positive for heart worm and we could not turn him away. Chance has been going through heart worm treatment which typically can take a few months but if you are interested in this very handsome boy, please contact Street Hearts Rescue. If not for your donations and rescuers, these animals would die horrible deaths on the streets. ~ diana
