St. Clair Shores Nautical Tales
7/8/18 – I love my City (St. Clair Shores) and the fact that our council people and City management continue to support our animal advocacy efforts. For over 4 years we have had an active Animal Care and Welfare Committee and with the support of Councilman Caron and our Communications Department, we have been able to provide helpful information to our residents. We have a pet food collection bin at City Hall and soon we will have a brochure rack with helpful information about pet care. And, here is one of many Nautical Tail segments hosted by our Committee member, Liz Nicosia and produced by our Communications Department.https://vimeo.com/278001881

Lucie – Her Young Uterus Was Nearly Shredded
7/6/18 – A huge thank you to our many friends and vets who help us make a difference.
“I want to send a huge thank you to 4Paws1Heart for taking care of Lucie’s medical. She went in yesterday for her spay and I was told by the doctor that her uterus was so weak it literally shredded as they attempted to remove it. She is only short of 12 weeks old. They were able to remove everything but her incision was bigger than normal. She is on antibiotics for now and have her on crate rest as she is a little swollen. I am so grateful that Debra rescued her to give her a chance for a long and healthy life. I cannot imagine her on the streets and getting pregnant. Lucie is in the process of moving to her furever home. So happy for her.- Patricia”
Big Sox and Little Sox – Their Dad Had to Move to a Nursing Home and Couldn’t Take Them
7/6/18 – Big Sox and Little Sox were the faithful companions of an elderly man who had to be placed in a nursing home and could not take his buddies with him. We received a call from a long time supporter saying that the man’s neighbor wanted to take them in but could not afford a vet visit. Big Sox appeared to be losing weight.
Our mission is to reduce the number of unwanted animals and if all it took was a visit to a vet to help these two, we were all in. Big Sox (daddy to Little Sox) was seen by our vet and it was found that he is diabetic. 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for a 6-month supply of insulin and for the entire visit and now the ‘boys’ are living happily in their new home. ~ diana
Luke – Found on the Streets Requiring Surgery
7/5//18 – Luke was rescued and found to have a mass in his abdomen. Our friends at Happy Tails K9 & Feline Rescue needed a little help with the surgery and we were glad to provide. Happy Tails is a great rescue. They have provided placement for some animals saved by our Board members and whose medical was taken care of by 4 Paws 1 Heart.
Louie – Hit by a Car, His Internal Organs Were Pushing Through His Diaphragm
7/4/18 – Happy Independence Day to all of our rescue friends and their beautiful rescues. As we celebrate our freedom today, I would also like to celebrate those many caring people who never turn their back on an animal in need. And, by doing so, free so many animals from pain and abuse.
We were contacted by our friends at Devoted Friends Animal Society about a kitten with a diaphragmatic hernia due to being hit by a car. Louie’s insides were pushing through his diaphragm. You can imagine that surgery wasn’t cheap but Louie’s prognosis was good. 4 Paws 1 Heart could not cover the total cost but we were happy to help. Louie had his surgery and is now doing great. Anyone interested in Louie should contact Devoted Friends Animal Society. ~ diana
Booey – Struck with and Infection or Bacterial Disease
7/3/18 – Booey had an episode which left him unable to move his front legs and resulted in limited movement of his neck. He was rushed to emergency. The vet thinks it could be an infection or bacteria in the central nervous system causing this. He is currently being prepped for a CSF test (takes the Cerebrospinal fluid from lower back).
Booey has a long road ahead but is improving and responding slowly to treatment daily. Booey has kept his spirits up and always has a kiss for all that comes near. 4 Paws 1 Heart is happy that we could help in his journey to recovery. He is with Make A Difference Rescue. ~ diana
Tammy – Her Son Led Rescuers to Save Her
6/30/18 – Meet Tammy. Her son led finders to her, lying in brush, with a broken leg. Her leg was amputated with some assistance from 4 Paws 1 Heart. The vet’s staff said that she is the sweetest cat. Obviously, Tammy either escaped her home or was ‘dumped’. Here she is in a ‘onsie’ so she doesn’t have to wear a cone. She will need her forever loving home. We are very grateful to Pamela Vida for rescuing her and getting her the help that was needed. Anyone interested in adopting Tammy should contact Pamela at: [email protected] . ~ diana
