Crosby – Update

It’s messages like these that keep me going:
“I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you all. It’s been a year since I rescued this poor cat from the bad winter storm we had this time last year, that someone had posted on Facebook. After no one stepped up to get him, it was eating at me how cold this poor baby must be and after work that day I went and got him. Crosby is his name. It’s the name of the road he was at. I planned to find him a forever home but I just couldn’t (he has epilepsy) let him go. You all stepped up and helped me be able to get him the attention and care that he so badly needed. So very appreciative and thankful for you all. It’s so amazing the help and hope you all provide. Thank God for people like you all❤ – April”
I did suggest April contact a lab that creates CBD oils for various issues including seizures. A friend has had very good success with her cat who has gone 3 months without seizures. This is Crosby when April first contacted us one year ago. – diana

Salvaggio – Update After Surgery

11/21/20 – Salvaggio Update: Our good friend, Debra B., picked up sweet Salvaggio this morning. He spent the night in the hospital after his surgery on Friday. Everything went well and Salvaggio is now home with the mom who always fed him when he was a stray. Here he is with Josephine. Thank you to everyone who said a little prayer for him and sent over some positive energy. – diana

Salvaggio – A Constant Visitor to a Cat Community but Now Unable to Use a Leg

11/19/20 – Prayers and Positve Energy once again needed for this sweet boy, Salvaggio. He will have femur osteotomy surgery tomorrow. We were contacted about a week and a half ago about a cat who had been one of about 8 cats cared for by a very kind elderly woman who lives in a mobile home park. Unfortunately, for some reason, mobile home parks are saddled with many stray cats who appear to have been abandoned. They are typically very sweet and intact so just a couple of cats will turn into 20 in no time at all. Salvaggio has been a constant visitor for a few years but just recently showed up with his “leg hanging”. Our friend, Debbie N., stepped up and assessed the situation and arranged for Salvaggio to be seen by a vet. He was given pain meds and surgery was scheduled for tomorrow. Our elderly friend, Josephiine, has been given a large crate and bed to keep Salvaggio comfortable during his recovery. He will no longer be an outside cat.
There have been so many serious medical cases this year and we are forever grateful for the support our friends have given us during this very difficult period. – diana

Alley Cat – Found and Unable to Use Her Back Legs

11/17/20 – Please keep Alley Cat in your prayers and send her positive energy. She was found the other day but is unable to use her legs. It appears that she can’t stand on her back legs and there seems to be no use of her front legs. She was just trying to scoot to get around on the pavement. The rescuer brought her to their home and gave her food; she had a good appetite. While the rescuer, Shannon, held her, she urinated but didn’t seem to realize it. The rescue family has saved others in the past whom we have helped and they want to help this very sweet, lovable kitty. Unfortunately, the rescuers have been “hit hard over the past number of months with not being able to work because of the virus”. An appointment has been set up for this Saturday with one of our great partner vets but will be called if there is a cancellation. I just can’t say it enough — we have the very best supporters!!! – diana

Mama Cat – Update

11/14/20 – Another Happy Update from a rescuer we helped recently:
“Thought you’d like to see my mama cat you helped me with from the streets of Detroit. She is feline leuk positive but going strong. Her babies all turned out negative and found homes. I kept her with me and she is a happy girl! Thank you for all you do. – Kathy”
We couldn’t make a difference without the Village. – diana

Winter and Bronx – Winter Had Seizures; Bronx had a Head Injury

11/12/20 – Meet the neonate babies, Winter and Bronx who were rescued by Spark of Love Animal Rescue, a group who specializes in neonate rescue. Both had to be hospitalized but fortunately are now home and doing well. Winter is a Maltese who had a seizure and was displaying neurological issues. Since she has been home, she has had no more seizures. Bronx is an American Bully who seemed to be struggling from a head injury. Although these puppies will not be available for awhile and are still being watched for any further medical issues, anyone interested should contact the rescue. As always, we thank our donors who make it possible to give these abandoned animals a second chance. – diana

Jezzibelle – Found on the Streets in Severe Pain Due to Dental Infection

11/12/20 – Please remember Jezzibelle in your prayers tonight. She was found on the streets in very much pain due to a serious gum/dental infection. She has been on antibiotics, has had blood work, and is now scheduled for her dental surgery and spay tomorrow. Jezzibelle is about 5 years old and will have 3 extractions tomorrow along with a cleaning. She already has missing teeth including both incisors. The very sweet girl has taken to suckling probably because her teeth have been causing her such pain. Jezzibelle is with Up in Arms for Animals Rescue and Rehab so, if you are interested in adopting her, please contact them. These beautiful animals would not have a second chance at life without the Village of animal advocates and caretakers. – diana

Chubby, Deku, alexander, May, Cake, and Tiger – Found on the Streets

11/12/20 – These six kittens/cats were all rescued from the street by the rescue, Loved Beyond Belief. They are Chubby, Deku, Alexander, May, Cake, and Tiger. All are being neutered/spayed and vaccinated complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart and our amazing donors. Don’t forget that many of the animals we help are looking for their furever homes so if you are looking for that special love, please check out this rescue who has just saved several more in addition to these beauties. – diana

Shih Tzu Puppies – Thirteen Rescued After Being Dumped by a Backyard Breeder

11/11/20 – Thirteen Shih Tzu puppies were found in hiding in various locations but in the same general area. They had been dumped by what appears to be a ‘backyard breeder’ because they were obviously no longer of use. Of the thirteen, ten had to be immediately placed in the hospital and three were well enough to stay with the rescue for decompression and minimal care. Of the ten who had to be hospitalized, one required an amputation, one has heart worm, and one has a number of mammary tumor; the rest have various infections and infestations. I apologize for the graphic photos but it is important to know what some people will do to make their living on selling animals. 4 Paws 1 Heart made a significant donation to their medical bill as Rebel Dogs of Detroit does everything possible to help the abused, stray, and abandoned dogs of Detroit. – diana
