Moenart – RIP – Loved and Safe For One Year Before Succumbing to Feline Leukemia

6/16/21 – RIP Moenart. He was rescued last summer by two women who do TNR on the east side of Detroit. He was was flea-ridden, had severe wounds on his neck, patches of hair missing, rotted teeth, and blood was seeping from his eye. But yet, he allowed the ladies to touch him. Melissa, who we’ve helped in the past, contacted us for help. Moenart was seen by our vets and was treated for infections, fleas, wounds, and was eventually neutered and vaccinated. Unfortunately, he was found to be FIV positive. And, although we were asked, we would not authorize him to be euthanized. Melissa and her friend vowed to keep him in a home and give him love so, over the past year, we took care of his medical needs. Then, this past Sunday, Melissa contacted me again asking for assistance with Moenart. He was lethargic, losing weight, and was having a hard time walking or even laying down. And, to me, the tell all, was that he was hiding. In my heart and prior experience with my own babies, this did not sound good and I authorized a visit to our vet who saw Moenart yesterday. The doctor found a huge tumor in his stomach and it looked like it was wrapped around the intestines. Moenart’s gums were pale and he was extremely lethargic and Melissa and the doctor agreed to let Moenart cross the Rainbow Bridge.
I’ve said this so many times in the last 10 years — May God bless the Rescuer. We don’t know the hardships Moenart faced in his short life but we do know he was very loved and safe for almost one year and did not leave this world suffering or tortured on the mean streets. – diana

Cowboy – Rescued With Severe Leg Wounds

6/15/21 – This very sweet little guy was found wandering the streets. He appeared to have something wrong with his front legs. The family who rescued him had a friend contact us for help. The family’s children named him Cowboy. Cowboy was taken to a partner vet where it was found that he had wounds on his legs which were infected. Those were treated and we absolutely authorized him to be neutered, tested, and vaccinated when appropriate. The family will be keeping this sweetie. – diana

6/14/21 – And the kitties keep coming. This is Mom, Iggy, and baby, Darrin. They were both rescued from the streets and will find their way into a furever home after getting their medical needs met. We are always thankful to play a role in stopping the overpopulation of animals on the streets by funding neuters/spays, vaccines, and testing for FIV and FeLV. – Diana

Sabretooth – Needing a Tooth Extraction and Medical Treatment

6/14/21 – Sabretooth was trapped a couple of weeks ago and was treated for Giardia and was snap tested after the rescuer took care of his neuter. The original plan was to return him to the colony but he turned out to be very sweet so the rescuer, Heather, will be looking for a furever home for him. But first, he needs to have an upper K-9 extracted and be treated for gingivitis. His surgery is scheduled for this Thursday. He’s a young boy and if you are interested, please contact Heather at: [email protected] He is a very handsome boy. – diana

Groovy – No Longer Wanted Because of Her Medical Needs

6/10/21 – Groovy is an 11 month old Lab mix. She was no longer wanted by her owner because she “didn’t need or want the responsibility anymore”. So our friends at Misfit Angels rescued her.
She has double entropion, had never been to the vet nor was she welcome to come in the house after going to the bathroom. Groovy will have surgery on both eyes Friday June 11, as well as spay complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart. The rescue says that she is learning so much at her foster home and loves to be around her furry foster friends! Although a little confused because of her former upbringing, she is very sweet. Anyone interested in Groovy should contact Misfit Angels. Prayers for a successful surgery – diana

Miss Ashton – Rescued With a Severe Upper Respiratory Infection

6/8/21 – I guess today is the day of Happy Updates. Here is another about Miss Ashton. Again, thank you for making a difference. – diana
I wanted to share the update about little Miss Ashton: thanks to 4 Paws and 1 Heart coming to her rescue the day she was saved two weeks ago, she is almost ready for adoption! She was very sick with a horrible upper respiratory infection the day we saved her from a colony of Cats in Detroit. It was a Sunday afternoon and Diana Rascano didn’t hesitate to back her vetting needs that day. Deborah Friedman was at the clinic that day and had us come in immediately.
Within 2 or 3 days, she was much better and acting like a little kitten should. She’s been with her foster Amanda Callahan for 2 weeks now and she is so sweet! For the Love of Cats rescue group and Nadi Tanbakuchi will be backing her going forward and I know she’ll find a fantastic forever home!
Two weeks ago today, we were busy trying to rescue this girl. It was a success! Her foster momma is so good to her and little Miss Ashton is loving life now! She will be ready for adoption in about 2 weeks!
Let me know if you are interested. She is backed by For the Love of Cats rescue now. 💗

Louie – Update With His New Family

6/8/21 – And another happy update that was made possible by our very generous supporters. In a period of 15 months when we were only able to have one restricted fundraiser, we are humbled and blessed to have been able to help so many. May God bless all of our supporters, the rescuers, our veterinary doctors and nurses and staffs, and, most importantly, the adopters. – diana
CHANCE: So guess who mom got to visit today??? Who remembers our ole pal Louie???
Remember he’s the kid that was found running down the street terrified of the fireworks on 4th of July. When his rescuers found out where he lived and took him home they didn’t want him!
So he came to our house and thanks to lots of donations to 4 Paws 1 Heart he got all his vaccines, tests, neuter & dental and it was off to the great home mom found for him! Louies dad does clock repair and mom needed a clock repaired today soooo she got to visit Louie! Louie is forever with his ball….still!!! On the left is Louie now, 12yrs old and living his best life! Thankyou 4 Paws 1 Heart for making Louies dreams come true! ❤ Nightynite Louie, we miss you and love you!

Tommy Boy and Blu Blu – One Had a Floating Knee Cap; the Other a Broken Leg

6/8/21 – Updates: Tommy Boy was cared for in a cat community and was seen having problems walking. We were asked for help.Tommy Boy did go to one of our partner doctors and had x rays taken. The doctor diagnosed a “floating knee caps”. Surgery was not recommended because Tommy Boy is truly feral and would have been difficult to care for since he is opposed to being picked up and pain meds would be hard to give him He is back outside with his two buddies and the caretaker will continue to keep an eye on him.
Blu Blu was rescued last August and also was a stray cat being cared for by a homeowner. Somehow he broke his leg and that’s when we were called in to help. Blu Blu’s leg had to be amputated but today he is doing great inside his rescuer’s home enjoying his life with two other pets. I love when we get happy updates from our rescue friends. – diana
