This is Stevie. He showed up at the right home during a downpour. He was freezing and starving. He was taken in by the homeowner who is a friend of 4p1h and we agreed to pay for him to be neutered, tested, and vaccinated if an owner could not be found. Stevie was posted and scanned and no owner showed up. He had his first scary visit to the vet for his testing and vaccines and next week he will get neutered. Stevie is very friendly and sweet but the finder already has her legal limit of cats. So, please, if you’re interested in this handsome boy, please contact Angelina at: [email protected] – diana

Brutus – Found, Emaciated, on the Side of a Major Highway
10/28/20 – The other day I received the following message from a very kind woman who we helped about one year ago with another beautiful dog, Velcro, who the family rescued and we helped to make him become a permanent member of the family. Here is Brutus’ harrowing story – diana
“Saturday afternoon my husband and I were driving down I96 at Telegraph Rd and noticed a severely emaciated and scared puppy on the shoulder of I96 just after the on ramp from Telegraph Rd. He was cowering against the wall of the freeway and was 10 feet away from certain death. We pulled over and backed up down the shoulder to where he was. A semi truck saw what we were trying to do and he stopped the first lane of traffic to help us rescue him. The puppy was so happy to see us that he jumped right into our van and laid down.
My husband and I brought him immediately home and checked him over. The little boy has scars on his right side from what looks like cigar burns and he was so skinny that I thought he would break if we handled him too much. He was so weak that he could barely walk and all of his bones were visible through his skin. We gave him a little bit of food and a lot of water, let him sleep and he perked up a bit.
I introduced him to Velcro and our other dog Martell. They accepted him right away. I posted a picture of the puppy on Facebook. My family and both dogs fell in love with him and would like to keep him. He is Velcro’s new baby now and Martell’s new best buddy.
My husband and I are both unemployed due to the pandemic and are living off of unemployment benefits. We cannot afford the puppy’s vetting and neutering at this time. Sandra Ann recommended that I contact you and that there might be a chance you could assist us with vetting and neutering of this pup.
Thank you again for all you have done for us with Velcro. Any assistance that you could offer for Brutus would be greatly appreciated. This puppy is so special. It has only been 2 and a half days and he is already a part of the family.
Jeffrey Michael – Found at Just 5 Weeks Old With a Crushed Paw
10/27/20 – This past summer we were thankful to help our friends at Friends of Companion Animals Feline Rescue & Adoption Center by paying for Jeffrey Michael’s amputation. Without our great rescue groups and independent rescuers our help wouldn’t be needed. But, working together, we can make a huge difference. – diana
Bella, Bonnie, Boo, and Chesterfield – Found on The Streets
10/26/20 – There have been so many cats/kittens needing our help over the past 7 months that it’s been impossible to keep up without overwhelming everyone. Here are some of the beauties who have been given that second chance at life and who will no longer be responsible for the overpopulation of cats because they have all been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested, and treated for minor illnesses by 4 Paws 1 Heart. It is only because of you that we are able to make this happen so if you can, double your donation today by having your donation matched during our $1,000 Halloween Match which ends 10/28/20.

Saturn – He Was Found in the Middle of a Busy Road – Maybe Thrown Out of a Vehicle
10/23/20 – The finder is a student of an independent rescuer we’ve assisted on several occasions. It appears that the kitten, Saturn, may have been thrown out of a car in that she was found in the middle of a busy road with a bloody face. She will be seeing a vet on Sunday where her face will be examined and she will be eventually vaccinated, tested, and spayed. Thank you to our many supporters who have already donated toward the $1,000 Halloween Match. The match continues until October 28. The need continues and we are forever grateful for your support. – diana
Max – His Mom Died and the Family Didn’t Want Him
10/22/20 – Meet Maxwell (aka Max). It was in December that Max’s mom asked her friend, Zelma, to care for her beloved, elderly pet while she went through chemo/radiation treatment for cancer. Unfortunately, Max’s mom passed away in January and Zelma’s calls to the family went unanswered. Max developed some sores but as a result of the virus, she couldn’t get help for Max and the family continued to ignore her calls. Max’s sores got worse to the point that not even a groomer would take him in because of the horrible smell of his wounds. During all of this, Zelma and her family were falling in love with this senior who had only one tooth left in his mouth. Finally, Zelma received a text from her deceased friend’s family — “we don’t want him; keep him”. It was Zelma’s social worker who suggested she contact us. Zelma didn’t have the heart to have this poor old guy abandoned again and she contacted us for any help/advice we could give. Under the circumstances, we had to help. So, Max will be going to one of our favorite vets and anything needed will be done so that he can spend his remaining years loved and safe. – diana
P.S. Don’t forget about the $1,000 Halloween Match which ends October 28. It’s because of our generous supporters that we are able to make a difference for the Maxes of the world.
Pee Wee – Found With a Prolapsed Rectum Needing Emergency Surgery
10/21/20 – $1,000 Donation Match Starts Today!! As our many friends know, fundraising in 2020 has been a challenge and meeting the needs of the stray, abandoned, and abused have been even a bigger challenge. The number of animals, especially cats, being born on the streets and then getting injured and seriously ill has been overwhelming. But, thankfully, our friends have continued to help us meet the challenge.
Last night I received an emergency call about Pee Wee. You might remember that he was found in late August and when the finder called our friend, it was thought that Pee Wee was already dead. Our friends, Jo and Debra, immediately jumped in the car and went to pick up Pee Wee. They were both confident that Pee Wee wouldn’t make it. His body was already cold. But with love and amazing vet care, Pee Wee has thrived. But, last night when Jo got home from work, she saw that Pee Wee was lethargic, vomiting, and in obvious distress. Jo also noticed that ‘something’ appeared to be protruding from his anus–later it was realized that it was a prolapsed rectum. Because Pee Wee had been to a vet the day before to get a vaccine, the vet agreed to see Pee Wee right away. Pee Wee was sedated while his rectum was pushed back in and a couple of stitches were used to keep the rectum in. Pee Wee was kept overnight and he will be ready to go home today.
In that most people will not be buying and distributing candy this Halloween, a former Board member thought it might be a good time to ask for donations that she can then match up to $1,000. Please consider doubling your donation today through October 28, 2020 and make a difference in the lives of those who need us. – diana
