Lydia – Left Behind by Her Owners
8/7/17 – Let’s try and start this week off on a happy note. Last week was probably the worst 4 paws 1 heart week in 7 years. This is sweet Lydia. She was left behind by her owners but fortunately, a very committed animal advocate came across her and contacted us. Lydia had a wound on her back and needed to be treated for fleas/parasites; fortunately, she was heart worm free! She was spayed and now — dada — she has been adopted. I’m so happy for Lydia. This is what it’s all about. ~ diana
Mac and Luna Find Their Forever Homes
8/6/17 – 4 Paws 1 Heart’s mission is: “Reduce the Number of Abandoned Animals by Funding Medical Treatment for Abandoned, Abused, and Stray Companion Animals”. Since August 18, 2010 we have paid $523,972 for over 4,000 animals. But, over the years we have evolved and recognized that there is also a need to assist independent/individual rescuers in the adoption process. Consequently, we offer a courtesy petfinder site (only available to 501c3 organizations) and the Friends of 4 Paws 1 Heart facebook page to all of those individuals who not only rescue an abandoned/abused animal but who also have committed to finding the best home. We are happy too say that over the past (almost) 7 years, 182 animals were adopted into great homes because of our combined efforts. This doesn’t include the many animals who found their forever homes with the rescuers or their friends/families. This is Mac and Luna — both recently adopted with the assistance of 4p1h. A huge thank you to our Board member, Cynthia Wojtowycz, who administers these sites and ensures each animal has the best “write up” and our friend, Lori White Stephens who rescued these animals, took them several times to the vet, and sought out the perfect homes. ~ diana
Rocky – Found On the Street – Injured
8//3/17 – Meet Rocky. He was found injured on the street; possibly hit by a car. Something was wrong with Rocky’s jaw and after trying to find his owner, he was taken to one of our veterinarians. The doctor found loose bone sticking through his gums and believed that was preventing his jaw from healing. In addition to his jaw injuries, Rocky has demodex mange. On Wednesday, Rocky had the surgery to remove the loose bones and he is now resting comfortably. A foster is being sought by our friends at A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue but in the mean time, he is staying with his rescuer, Lori. Rocky’s surgery could not have taken place without the generosity of our supporters. Thank YOU. ~ diana
Blackie – Hit By a Car
8/2/17 – Finally, some good news. Thank you, Melanie Wittner, of a Hopeful Heart. It truly takes a village. ~ diana
“Just wanted to share this sweet boy that you helped with this weekend. He was hit by a car and was unable to walk on his back leg. We were able to rush him to Advanced Emergency only because you were able to help! He still has a long way to go before he is completely better but because of 4 Paws he is doing great tonight sleeping in a comfortable bed and is pain free.- Melanie”
Remy – He Almost Died From Parvo Virus
7/31/17 – Just because I have posted so many sad cases the last couple of days, I wanted to share this very happy news with you. You may remember Remy. He was found running near a major highway. He became ill, and, after a visit to the Michigan Humane Society clinic, it was suspected that he had Parvo. The family contacted us because they had already fallen in love but couldn’t afford any more medical visits. Remy was seen at Advanced Animal Emergency first who then worked with Dr. Gary at Centerline Veterinary so that Remy could be treated as outpatient. Between the very caring rescuers and the wonderful doctors who work with us, Remy is a healthy, happy, and very loved boy. Here is Remy just 24 days ago and today. He will be soon neutered and vaccinated, complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart and our generous donors. ~ diana
Maggie Lu – Found Wandering the Streets – Flea Infested, Intact, and Both Legs Needing Surgery
7/26/17 – Our 4 Paws 1 Heart family has been unbelievably caring and generous in hearing of the death of my mom. Two days ago I received the following message “Hi Diana, we are so sorry to hear about the passing of your mom. I hope you can find some comfort at this difficult time. also, my husband and I would like to do a March donation up to $500”.
So, over the next week all donations made up to $500 will be matched by this very caring supporter of 4 Paws 1 Heart. Please help us get to $500 by using the donation link on this page or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St.Clair Shores, MI 48080. It is only with your donations and support can we continue to help save the lives of the abandoned like Maggie Lu.
Maggie Lu was found not-spayed, horribly flea infested, with long nails, and with both knees needing cranial cruciate surgery. An owner could not be found. Although the rescuer was willing to give Maggie Lu a forever home, she could not afford the medical bills. We were contacted and Monday, Maggie Lu was spayed and had surgery on one leg. The surgery went well and 4 Paws 1 Heart, if money is available, will help Maggie Lu with the surgery on her other leg when the time comes. Here she is when first rescued and a little later before surgery ~ diana
Casper – Only 10 Months Old, Deaf, and Running the Streets
7/25/17 – Meet Casper. At 10 months and deaf, he was found running the streets. The rescuers found out who his owners were but when they were contacted, they chose to not take him. The rescuers could not afford to keep him and contacted our friends at Friends of Scooby Rescue. We have often helped this rescue, and in this case, we were asked again if we could help Casper with neutering, vaccinating, and testing. Of course we did. Casper is now in a loving foster home where the young son of the house and Casper have already bonded. The young man is already learning sign language to teach Casper. Casper will also be in training for the next six months and our prayer is that he will find the perfect loving home once ready. Who knows?? Maybe, he already found that. ~ diana

Her family couldn’t take her with them and she was relegated to the basement. Today she has loving parents, a grandma who loves her, and lots of room to roam. I’m so happy we could play a role in Nala’s new journey. – diana
