FUNDRAISER – A Summer Cruise on the Detroit River

Please share. Trust me when I say there is no better gift than a certificate for one of these Summer Cruises; especially the August 1, Jazz It Up, cruise which benefits 4 Paws 1 Heart. It is always a beautiful night of eating, drinking, and most of all, dancing, under the starts. ~ diana

Chaps – Kept Outdoors 24/7, Rescued and in a Safe, Warm Place

12/16/16 – Chaps was rescued in October from a very abusive and negligent situation where not only was he kept outside 24/7 but he wasn’t being fed on a regular basis. Thankfully, friends who have helped 4 Paws 1 Heart before were contacted by Gina, and they immediately took steps to have this very neglected boy rescued from the situation. We have offered to have him fully checked out and seen by a veterinarian, and this week he was finally healthy enough to be neutered. We wish Chaps the very best! ~ dianachaps-121616chaps-121616

Ali (now known as Bentley) Will Be Celebrating Christmas in His New Home

12/14/16 – Don’t forget about our Secret Santa Matching Challenge. Two Secret Santas will be matching up to $2,000 in donations. Donations can be made through paypal by using the link on this page or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. Only you can help us make miracles happen.

Now the update we’ve all been waiting for (drumroll please): Ali is in his new, forever home!!!! He was originally named after Muhammad Ali because he was such a fighter as he survived several surgeries. Today, he is now called Bentley; which, when you look at him sitting so stately by his tree, does seem to fit just right. What a Merry Christmas for Bentley (Ali) as he gets lots of loving by his new mom and fur brother. ~ dianaali-6916-copyali-now-bentley-121116ali-aka-bentley-with-sibling-121116

Donate Today and Your Donation Will be Matched – Somerset (aka Sophie)

12/12/16 – Once again 4 Paws 1 Heart is being blessed with two Secret Santas who will match all donations to a maximum of $2,000. The Secret Santa Challenge will run from today until December 19, 2016. Please help us meet the challenge by making your donation today by using the link on this page or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. It is only with the support of our friends can we make miracles like this happen.

It was August, 2015 when Somerset (now known as Sophie) was found walking all alone from under a bush. Just one pound and 2 and 1/2 weeks old, she was brought into the emergency. She was found to have a dislocated elbow, possible injury to her shoulder, but more troubling, blisters on the inside and outside of her leg. After several surgeries and the loving care of Gina and her fur team, Sophie recovered and found her way into the loving homes of our friends, Jeff and Venus. She is one of our many miracles.somerset-aka-sophie-2016somerset-aka-sophie-2016somerset-sophie-wvenus-2016somerset-aka-sophie-121116

Tobias – Update: We Didn’t Think He Would Survive

tobias-when-rescuedtobias-wlynn-fleece
tobias-1211612/1/16 – More Happy Updates Because YOU help us make miracles happen. Remember Tobias? It was November 29, 2014 when two good Samaritans witnessed a hit-and-run involving a dog (in the Livonia, MI area). They immediately picked up his injured body and began looking for help. It was about midnight, freezing cold, and they called several places–most were closed. And then, they contacted the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center. Gina offered to help by covering the cost of the dog’s medical needs because, at that point, we didn’t know if the dog had an owner. Immediately, that night the staff tried to stabilize him as he was in shock and they had to support his injuries with pain management. He had a fractured pelvis and possibly ligament damaged in his knee. Shortly after arriving, the dog, now named Tobias, had to have emergency surgery due to severe trauma from being hit by a car. About 5 inches of dead intestine had to be removed because he was regurgitating and was very uncomfortable despite pain management. Exploratory surgery was done and we could not thank Dr. Maria Rivera and Dr. David Balaj enough for literally saving this this dog’s life!!! What occurred inside of Tobias was RARE, but without surgery that night, he probably would have eventually died–very soon. Besides everything found during surgery, Tobias also had 3 pelvic fractures that needed time to heal with cage rest.

This was yet another dog that was delivered to us for help and given a second chance. Tobias’ age was estimated at 1-2yrs old and the owners never came forward.

When Tobias was ready to be released from the hospital, a friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart (who happened to be the wife of Joy’s rescuer, Michigan State Trooper Joel), offered to take in Tobias during his recovery and assist with finding him a forever home. Fast forward to now and Tobias is now living the life of much love and happiness. As I’ve often said, the lives we’ve saved are the result of many caring people coming together toward one goal–the animal. Thank you to our wonderful vets and vet techs, rescuers, fosters, and, most importantly, donors. May God Bless You All, ~ diana

Ali – Finds Her Forever Home!!!

A story of “Divine Intervention “. Many of you are familiar with the story of “Ali”. He was abandoned and injured after being crushed in a reclining chair at only 2 days old. We took him into our organization and I have fostered and raised him since. He underwent extensive medical care, multiple surgeries, months of healing, and here he is now at almost 7 months old. A beautiful boy with his entire life ahead… After hundreds of shares and thousands of views on social media our attempt to find his forever home has finally happened – and the way it happened gives me the chills!
Ali went to a meet and greet this last Friday with a wonderful family. The plan was to stay all weekend, and see how things went. There were 2 other sibling pups in the home that got along with Ali, but the 3 of them together didn’t end up being a good mix. It would have been a great home if they had, but i believe everything happens for a reason. On Saturday the family had company over and Ali was a hit. An immediate family member happened to be in the market for a dog and she fell in love with Ali. He was at the right place, at the right time, and she was a perfect match. She and I spoke the next day, and I could tell that she was everything I was looking for in a new mommy for Ali.
On Sunday she introduced her 14 year dog to Ali and later on sent me a pic of them sleeping together. She will be closing on her new home this week which happens to be about 1 block away from me!!!!! Tomorrow I will meet her in person when she comes to visit Ali. The sibling pups will now be his cousins and the family that had him over the weekend will be aunt and uncle♡ They adore him.
Thank you all for sharing and supporting Ali all along. We couldn’t do this without you! My prayers for a forever home by Christmas have been answered! ♡ Gina

Giving Tuesday 2016 – Be A Hero

11/29/16 – BE A HERO ON THIS GIVING TUESDAY by donating today to 4 Paws 1 Heart. With your support we can continue to make miracles like this happen.

It was a freezing January 20, 2015 afternoon when I received a call from our friend at Hopeful Heart Animal Rescue. She had been contacted by the Roseville Police about a dog found tied behind the Walmart store in Roseville, MI. The dog was found with her paw chewed off. She needed to be taken to emergency immediately — “Could 4 Paws 1 Heart cover the bill”. Our answer was yes and Courtney was taken immediately to our friends at Advanced Animal Emergency. Courtney needed emergency surgery before her leg became infected and before the bones in her intestines would cause a rupture. Within just a couple of hours, Courtney’s leg was amputated and the bones within her intestines were removed and she was on the road to recovery. It was surmised that the freezing cold had actually saved Courtney from actually bleeding out and dying while tied up and unable to escape.

After some investigation, video of the area showed two men get out of their car and tie Courtney to a structure two days before she was found. As you could see them pulling away (although unable to see the license plate), Courtney tried to chase them but was restrained by the rope. We don’t know when Courtney actually chewed her paw off; it could have been before she was dumped at the Walmart store in that no other remains were found near her. Fortunately, a kind employee found her and contacted the police. Her story went viral all over the world (check out 4paws1heart.or) and within days her story was aired on WDIV.http://www.clickondetroit.com/…/dog-left-chained-u…/30844982

Almost two years later, she is a happy, healthy dog living with a great family with two teenage sons who are very much in love with her.

You can be someone’s hero today by donating on this Giving Tuesday. Use the the link on this page, or on our website, 4paws1heart.org, or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. Thank you for being our HERO. ~ diana
