Fat – His Owner Moved Away and Left Him Behind

4/7/16 – Meet Fat. This little beauty was left behind by her owner when the owner moved out of State. The woman took her other dog but left this little one behind. Friends of the family eventually found her but did not know how long she had actually been by herself. The friends are looking for a rescue and asked 4 Paws 1 Heart if we could pay to have Fat seen by a veterinarian. Fat is emaciated and appears to have Mange. We will have her treated and heart worm tested. Paws crossed that she does not test positive. I just don’t understand the cruelty of people. ~ diana

Charlie – Attacked by Another Dog the Day He Was to be Adopted

4/6/16 – This past weekend we received the following request from 313 K-9 & Kitty Rescue:

” I am 313 k9 & kitty Rescue. Yesterday evening I was taking one of our rescue dogs, Charlie, for his last walk with us; he was supposed to be adopted today.
When we were just a few blocks from the house, a large black pit bull came from the alley & attacked him. He was messed up pretty badly. Charlie was very abused & neglected when we got him, but is an extremely loving dog. He didn’t even fight back to defend himself. His collar was ripped off of him, he has over 20 puncture wounds & gashes (mostly on his neck, ears, and head; but some on his legs). He was in surgery last night for 3 hours. They had to repair blood vessels & tendons. Put in 4 drainage tubes, and stitches everywhere. He has to go back on Wednesday to have the tubes removed & see where he’s at in healing; praying for no infection! He’s on 2 antibiotics & pain meds.
This is taking an incredible financial toll on us, with another dog on heartworm treatment and another being a ct scan & most likely spinal surgery… it’s hitting us like a brick.
If there is anything you could do to help, I would be beyond grateful… more than words could ever express.”

We were happy to take care of Charlie’s remaining hospital bill and pray that he heals quickly. The good news is that Charlie’s potential adopters are still in love and are waiting patiently to give Charlie a forever home. ~ dianaCharliew:313 k9 and kitty rescue 4:6:16

Thank You to the Utica Education Association Staywell Committee

4/6/16 – A huge thank you to the Utica Education Association for once again including 4 Paws 1 Heart as a beneficiary of their recent Hoodie Hoo 5K Run/Walk. The fact that three of my favorite non-profits (Macomb Food Program, 4 Paws 1 Heart, and Tigerlily) benefitted, is just icing on the cake. We are truly humbled by their continued support. They truly live by the motto that “it is better to give then receive”.12974373_1128330860532544_6138589262994945211_n

Lacy – Left Behind After Owners Vacated the Home

4/5/16 – Another family saved!! This is Lacy. She was found with her two puppies, abandoned in a vacated rental unit. Thankfully, the owners of the rental are loving, caring people who immediately took the family in to see a vet. It was determined that mama Lacy is heart worm positive. 4 Paws 1 Heart will be helping the family with their medical needs which starts this Thursday. Fortunately, the entire family has been lined up with forever homes. – diana

Bella – Saved One Day Before Having Babies

4/4/16 – If you had any doubt that the official kitten season has started — don’t. Another family has been saved because of people working together. This is Bella. On March 30 we were contacted by Francine L., who we’ve helped with rescue medical bills on several occasions. Francine said that she had been contacted about a cat who had staked out a porch. A very nice couple had been feeding the cat and they thought the cat might be pregnant. Francine picked up Bella that night and 4 Paws 1 Heart made arrangements for Bella to be seen by a vet on April 1. On April 2, this beauty had kittens!! Can you imagine if Bella had not been saved and had to go through labor on that snowy, wet Saturday?? When ready, Bella and her babies will be going to Guardian Angels Animal Rescue. This is what a village is all about. God’s Blessings to this beautiful family and all of our friends who play a role in their lives. ~ dianaBella4:3:16Bella w:herbabies4:3:16

Odin is Still Looking for His Forever Family

4/3/16 – Hello Friends! Odin here!!!! I need a huge favor from all of you. If you can share my photo, it might help me find a home. I’ve been with foster mom, Gina, and her fur family for almost a year and although I’ve received lots of love from everyone, I’m yearning for my own home and family. You see I was found last April, 2015 injured and laying in the street. Some really nice lady scooped me up into her arms and 4 paws 1 heart gave me a 2nd chance. I would have died..if the doctors didn’t fix me. Now I’m searching for my new forever home. I’m about 2-3yrs old, up to date on veterinary care, and I LOVE to snuggle! I enjoy being with people, going for walks, and I give lot’s of kisses. PLEASE share my story with everyone because I deserve a good home. EMAIL my foster mom at: [email protected] for more information. Thanks!!!!! Odin
P.S. Here I am with my best friend, Angel.

4/2/16 – Meet Petey and Tails. Petey was rescued from a very abusive household where she was tied up and forced to sleep and live in her own waste. Tails was rescued while wandering in a cemetery in southwest Detroit. Attempts to find Tails’ owner has been unsuccessful. Both dogs will be spayed/neutered, tested, and vaccinated with funds from 4 Paws 1 Heart. Please remember that we can’t make miracles happen without the financial support of our friends. Please consider making a donation today. Donations can be made through the link on this page or by mail at P.O. 4/1/16 – Drum Roll Please —- Mama and Babies are together!! Although they were apart for a little over 24 hours, all four 2 day-old babies and their mom are back together, safe and sheltered. A huge thank you once again to their heroes Mike and Grace L., Debra B., Denise N.
