Reggie – Requires Surgery

4/24/16 Update on Reggie. The suturing which occurred at the veterinary Reggie was taken to during his ‘hold’ period was not successful so Reggie had to have surgery Friday at his rescue group’s vet. He is doing well and we are still thankful that we could be there for this sweet boy. A huge thanks to the man who didn’t turn his back on Reggie when he saw him suffering on the street, 313 K9 & Kitty Rescue and of course all of you who are the voice for animals like Reggie. As we committed from the beginning, 4 Paws 1 Heart has covered Reggie’s medical expenses. We couldn’t do it without the support of our faithful animal advocates — YOU. Anyone wishing to donate for the many animals we help, can make a donation through the link on this page or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080

Unfortunately, very little can be done in the rescue world without money. Even the healthiest animal will need testing, vaccinating and fixing; and even with generous discounts from vets, this can amount to anywhere from $65 to $200 per animal. Very often, 4 Paws Heart gets involved with the toughest situations — but that is why we are here. Stay tuned because by Tuesday we will have another heart wrenching yet heart warming case to tell you about. ~ dianaReggie4:22:16

Odin – Finds His Forever Family

4/23/16 – Almost 1 year to the day, Odin found his forever home. Words can not describe how happy I am. Odin lived with me for one year of his life and I was very selective when looking for the right fit. That perfect fit happens to be only a few miles away from where I live. Odin came to emergency after being hit by a car. He was falling over in the middle of the street when a woman called the emergency for help. I answered the phone and advised her to borrow a blanket from the neighbor, toss it over him, and try to get him in the car. The woman was nervous because of his breed and he was hurt. That woman saved his life by stepping up and getting him to us. 4 paws 1 heart offered to take him into our care. That is what it’s all about. Not pushing it off on someone else or expecting animal control to be available. Odin is alive because that woman took initiative. That is what everyone needs to do when it comes to strays or abused animals because there are limited resources as it is. I encourage involvement from the residents in every community to pay attention and just try to do what you can. This is a perfect example showing the difference that one woman made. Odin got medical treatment and he is in the perfect home. GinaOdin4:23:16odin***4:23:16Odin---4:23:16

Jelly and Bean – Found Alone in an Attic

4/22/16 – Rest in peace.Last week 2 kittens were found and we named them Jelly and Bean. Both were rescued from an attic of an empty home in Hamtramck. They were severely dehydrated, infested with fleas, and they had bad eye infections. We lost Jelly the next day and I took Bean home for aggressive care around the clock. Despite all efforts he peacefully passed away early yesterday morning. I want to thank the 2 guys that called and transported them to us. They were hero’s for not turning away to leave these 2 kittens to suffer longer. They got them to safety and they were cared for to the best of our ability. Ginajelly 4:23:16

Tequila – Rescued from the Jaws of Death

13015330_1137737522925211_2591454014298717070_n4/21/16 – This sweetheart was rescued from the jaws of death and I mean that literally. Unfortunately, she was seen as prey by the family dog. A caring person rescued her but needed our help to get her vetted and seen for an urinary tract infection.

Please consider donating to 4 Paws 1 Heart so that we can continue to help all of these abandoned/abused animals who need us. Donations can be made through the link on this page or by mail to P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080.

We are their voice. Thanks, diana

Two – Thrown Out of a Moving Car on I-94, Michigan

4/21/16 – Although this story has a good ending, I continue to be horrified by what humans do to innocent animals!! This is Two. Our friend, at Friends of Scooby Rescue was driving on I-94 near Battle Creek when the car in front of her veered off the road in chase of a dog who was just thrown out of a car as it entered the freeway. Can you believe that someone would open a car door and push a 40 pound dog onto the freeway!!! I can’t imagine how afraid he must have been. Thankfully, they were all able to catch him but unable to get the license number of the inhumans’ car. Two had an eye injury and 4 Paws 1 Heart was happy to pay for a visit to a veterinary yesterday. He was found to have an ulcer on his eye and received medication which is already starting to help him. He is about 8 years old with one blue eye and one brown eye and, as you can see very handsome. – diana

Reggie – Rescued from the Street with a Prolapsed Rectum Caused by Diarrhea

Reggie w:313 k9 and kitty rescue 4:20:16 4/20/16 – After being rescued and taken to a vet by a very kind man, Reggie, was released to a rescue this morning and brought to anotherveterinary. 4 Paws 1 Heart is paying for Reggie’s medical treatment, as promised. Here is a report from the rescue. Say a little prayer that Reggie will recover without additional surgery. He is quite a handsome fellow~ diana

“They couldn’t get a fecal because he pooped on the lawn when we picked him up. So as soon as he poops I’m going to run it back to our veterinary. They took blood, most of those results will be available later. The heart worm results will be available tomorrow.
His rectal stitches look good he and his rectum itself appears to be holding. It’s been in for 4 days, the doctor wants to leave it in for 2-3 more days & then take it out to see how he does. If it doesn’t hold, they’ll have to go in through his stomach & pull it back & stitch it up from the inside. He said about 90% of cases don’t need that procedure because what he has now usually corrects it.
He lost 8lbs in the 5 days since he was initially rescued. He weighs 41lbs now. He’s pretty skinny. Lol… He kept stealing bags of dog food off the shelf at the vet & walking off with them. The vet said to give him chicken & rice the next few days.
He really likes other dogs. He wanted to play with everyone at the vet. He’s really friendly & sweet. The vet estimates his age at about a year – year & a half. ~ Shawn”

Gracie – Rescued from a Wheel Well

4/20/16 – My little Luigi, now 7 years old, was rescued by public safety officers in Harper Woods — he was stuck in a wheel well and was brought to Gina when they finally got him out. The officers called him crazy and feral but Gina took him in to her little adoption program at Moore’s Veterinary. I called Gina to see if she had a little Italian black and white cat and the best cat ever (don’t tell our other two) walked into our lives.

So, when I was contacted about this sweet little 4-5 week old who was stuck in a wheel well — you know we had to help. Gracie was rescued by a wonderful couple who had just lost their 17 year old cat. It must have been fate because little Gracie can now help fill a little bit of the emptiness in their hearts. As always, we are grateful to all of the caring individuals who don’t turn their backs on innocents in need. We wish Gracie and her new mom and dad many years of happiness and love.~ dianagracie 4:20:16

Odin – After One Year Finds His Perfect Family

4/19/16 – So after so many disturbing stories about the treatment of innocent animals, I wanted to give our friends the GREAT news!! Our little Odin has been officially adopted. You may remember that Odin suffered minor injuries after being hit by a car. He was brought to the Emergency where 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for his medical treatment and Gina took him into her home during his recovery. High energy Odin loved Gina’s baby, Angel, but he longed for a family of his own. One year later, Odin has found the perfect family!!! He has fur siblings, human siblings, a mom who is a trainer and a dad who is very excited to make Odin a member of their family. After only a short while, Odin has made himself at home (he’s the guy at the bottom of the photo). Good Luck, Sweet Boy. We are so happy for you. xox ~ diana
