Clementine – RIP — It Took Days to Get Her and Then It Was Too Late

5/21/19 – RIP Clementine. For almost one week our friend, Shelley Emerson, has been trying to rescue this cat who was said to be very sick. Finally, today, she was able to get her into one of our veterinary partners. Unfortunately, by this time, her condition was very dire. Clementine was breathing heavily and, unfortunately, bleeding. After trying for a couple of hours to help her, she passed away. Our only comfort is knowing that she didn’t suffer any more and didn’t die on the street, alone. We thank the doctor and staff for trying to save her and for giving her warmth and comfort in her last moments. Also, thank you to our friend, Shelley, for trying so hard to save her. Run free without pain, Clementine. ~ diana

Pete – Was Found Lying in a Ditch Too Weak to Stand With a Wound on His Leg

5/20/19 – Pete was found lying in a ditch. He had a severe wound on his leg which was oozing pus. He could hardly stand. After we were contacted, he was taken to one of our vets where the wound was treated and Pete was given antibiotics. After a couple of visits, Pete’s wound is healing and he is doing great in his new home. Thank God for those loving people who don’t turn their back on an animal in need. ~ diana

Baby Girl – Rescued During the Brutal Michigan Winter; Losing Fur and Filled With Scabs

5/17/19 – Baby Girl was another cat rescued during this past brutal winter. She was losing her fur and had many scabs on her body. We were called to help and she was taken to one of our partner vets. Baby Girl was found to have a flea allergy with many flea bites. She was spayed, vaccinated, and treated for the fleas and today is doing very well. ~ diana

Max and Shadow – Rescued During Dangerously Freezing Temperatures of February

5/16/19 – Scott, the rescuer, brought Max and Shadow into his home during the brutal, frigid temperatures of February. Both appeared to be feral and the rescuer just wanted to get them out of the cold. Since then, they have proven to not be feral and were recently taken to be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and tested. Unfortunately, Max (the black kitty) tested positive for FIV. Although, as we now know, that should not be a death knell for any cat. Scott has been working with both cats and hopes to find them both loving homes. If you are interested, please contact Scott at: [email protected] – diana

Jalapeno – Happy Update After His Leg Amputation

5/15/19 – A Happy Update: This little sweetie, Jalapeno, was rescued from the street by a caring young man. He immediately took him to a vet who advised that Jalapeno’s leg would have to be amputated; no pain medication was given and no x rays were taken but the young man was charged quite a bit. The young man’s aunt, then stepped in and contacted us. Jalapeno was taken to one of our favorite veterinary hospitals, Patterson Veterinary Hospital in Clinton Twp., MI, and it was confirmed that the leg was so broken in so many spots, the leg would have to be amputated. The young man, his aunt and the rest of the family fell in love with Jalapeno so we agreed to pay for the amputation and whatever else was needed. Aunt Adrian just sent these two beautiful photos to update us on how well he is doing. May God bless the rescuers, the doctors/vet techs, and donors who help us give these animals a second chance at life. ~ diana

Huron – RIP Found in a Cat Community Bleeding

5/14/19 – RIP Sweet Huron. It was last Wednesday I received a call about a cat who was found in a cat community with blood all over and his jaw unable to close; he was very emaciated. He was taken into a veterinary hospital. The hospital put him on fluids and antibiotics and planned to keep him an additional night. We paid for the medical and advised the rescuers to let us know of the prognosis. On Sunday I learned that the doctors needed to perform a transfusion at a cost of $800 and perform surgery for an abscess and a possible extraction of teeth. The rescuers had been raising money to help pay for the surgery and transfusion. I approved the surgery but unfortunately I learned yesterday morning that Huron had died. When I called the hospital they advised that they could not find a suitable blood donor and, consequently, wasn’t able to perform the surgery. Our only comfort comes from the fact that Huron did not waste away and die on the street. As is always the case, I wish we could have done more. Many thanks to all who worked so hard to save this sweet boy. ~ diana
