7/23/22 – Cookie and her Babies Update. As of early afternoon, Cookie has not improved but has also not gotten worse. Yesterday, Cookie’s temp was 105, at this time it’s 104. She is on fluids and is being syringed fed. She is on a nebulizer and the staff is doing all they can to get her through this. Unfortunately, a lump has also showed up near her jaw. So, it is still a wait and see but if she makes it, I’m sure she will not be able to nurse whoever is left of her 6 kittens. I’m sad to say that one has already passed away and of the 5 left, 4 are very weak. We think the kittens went for a good deal of time without getting proper food and nutrients because the mom was sick.
The doctor asked that we check in again later tonight to see if any of the meds are making a difference and they will have a better idea of her chances for recovery. In the meantime, experienced bottle feeders are needed. The two friends now helping out can only take care of them for one or two more days. If you can help, please contact me at: [email protected] and I will put you in touch with our friend Debbie Nelson.
Please continue your prayers and, if possible, monetary donations would be greatly appreciated. The estimate for Cookie alone is quite high and we have committed to two cases involving eye removals, and one case for orthopedic surgery — not to mention just the “everyday” kind of cases that have been going on this past year. Thank YOU in advance because these babies could not be saved without you! – diana.
