Cisco Kid – He Showed Up Beaten and Sick

5/25/18 – I honestly can’t express how happy this makes us all feel. The saying is that rescues are forever grateful. ~ dianacisco kid ++ 5:25:18 cisco kid -- 5:25:18 cisco kid 5:25:18

“Meet the Cisco Kid! This amazing boy was thought to be feral and showed up in my neighborhood a couple months ago and was being fed by a neighbor. A couple weeks ago he started coming to my feeding bowl. Becuse we recently found a severely felv boy in our area that was so sick he was unable to be saved, I wasn’t taking any chances with Kid. While discussing how we were going to tnr him, he showed up injured! No way, it already looked infected in one day! Long story short, he finally got in the trap and I’ve never seen a cat more grateful to be rescued!!! Thanks to 4 Paws 1 Heart he was treated for the abscess over his eye and other minor wounds. Snap tested, which came back extremely, very faint positive for fiv. Most likely due to his infection, but will need to be retested. In about another week again thanks to 4 Paws Kid will be getting his shots & neuter and will be ready for a rescue, foster or better yet a forever home. Gets along with cats & dogs, it would be hard to find a more loving boy! If you would like to open your heart & home to this grateful sweetheart please contact me at “

Simon and Bob – One is Unable to Walk/Stand and the Other Emaciated and Very Ill

2/5/18 – Welcome to the first full week of February. Although most of us in Southeastern Michigan are once again dealing with about 3 – 5 inches of snow, I wanted to share this happy update to begin your week on a happy note.

Hopefully, you will remember our Simon. I was called during the evening of an 8″ snowstorm. The caller advised that a cat who his mom had been harboring in her rented room, kept being thrown outside by the landlord. And, the cat could not use his back legs. Well, with the help of the caller and our friend, Jo A., Simon was brought to safety and 4 Paws 1 Heart committed to doing whatever we could to give Simon a life he deserved. He has recently been seen by Dr. Kern of Pawsitive Steps Rehabilitation & Therapy for Pets and has been given exercises to do at home and a therapy plan has been developed. It turns out that poor Simon could not use any of his legs! But, the doctor thinks that with therapy, he will be able to walk again. Simon has proven to be a real love bug and enjoys living with some of his new buddies. The GREAT NEWS — SIMON actually stood on all four legs for a few seconds this weekend! Can you believe it? We know we have another little fighter on our hands and we will rejoyce the day he can again walk.

On another happy note, here is Simon with his best friend, Bob. From the day Jo took in Simon, Bob and him have been inseparable. Bob is another kitty helped by 4 Paws 1 Heart and helped by Jo A. Bob was left behind by his owners. He was treated for months for diarrhea that was so bad it would just spill out of his little body. He has asthma but gets better each day. I hope seeing these photos and reading their stories lift your spirits on this cold, wintry day. And, remember, it’s only because of the generosity of our supporters, can we continue to make miracles happen. ~ dianaSimoSimon and bob 2:5:18simon and bob -- 2:5:18

Astraya – Abused and Neglected and Left Behind by Her Owner

12/19/17 – Astraya was left behind when her owner relapsed after years of sobriety and moved. She was severely neglected and although very sweet and loving, acts as if she may have been abused. She had severe mange-like symptoms and had a hole in her armpit from eating at it . There was also a sore on her neck that was so bad, she would yelp if anyone tried to go near it. Astraya would cry softly if anyone touched her poor neglected and abused body. Thankfully, we were contacted and Astraya was seen by one of our vets last week. Astraya was treated for what the doctor thinks was the result of a severe flea infestation and by the next day Astraya was feeling much better. She will have a follow-up visit on Wednesday. Astraya will be looking for her forever home once she is healthy and has had time to decompress and get some long overdue love. Anyone interested in Astray should e mail Sue at: ~ dianaastraya 12:15:17astraya 12:16:17astraya w:tammi white

Axel – Starved and Abandoned — Update – RIP Sweet Boy

6/30/16 – Axel Update: Axel is looking a little livelier today. Your prayers have helped!!! We are hoping to get this baby into a loving temporary home while a cruelty case may be pursued. There are many animal lovers in the Roseville Police Department who are very anxious to help her heal emotionally and physically. We will absolutely keep everyone updated. Please remember that it’s only with your donations and support can we continue to save the lives in these critical cases. The options are: (1) tell the abuser/owner he has to take the animal to the vet but they rarely have the money or the credit to do so, consequently, the animal will die; (2) surrender the animal to the City but the municipalities don’t have the funds to cover these types of medical expenses; consequently the animal will die; OR (3) get assistance from a rescue or a group like 4 Paws 1 Heart. Thank you for all of your prayers. Donations can be made through paypal by using the ‘donate’ button on this page, through paypal on our; or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. ~ diana

4 Paws 1 Heart's photo.

7/5/16I am so very sorry to report that Axel’s suffering ended this morning. He did appear to be getting better but when Animal Control OfficerJoe, visited him yesterday he learned that Axel had no energy and had blood in his stool. It turns out he had numerous tears in his intestines. He was put on antibiotics but everything was just too much for his ravaged body. May you rest in peace sweet boy. You were loved by many in the end. – Diana

Hope – Update – Her Infection Was So Serious, She Took Months to Recover and Still Lost Her Eye

4/14/16 – Hope Update. I know the photos are a little unsettling but most people don’t know the seriousness of upper respiratory infections and the suffering that can be inflicted on poor innocent animals who get dumped or lost. (photos are from when Hope was first found and now after she had her eye removed).

It was right around Christmas, 2015 when Hope was rescued from a farm with over 50 cats. She was very, very sick with an upper respiratory infection and very emaciated. We really didn’t think she would make it. She was taken in by a great foster but, after several vet visits, Hope just couldn’t get better. Another good friend to 4 Paws 1 Heart and a foster for Tigerlily Cat Rescue stepped up and offered to foster Hope for Tigerlily. We committed to Hope’s medical and Andrea and Tigerlily committed to Hope’s recovery and adoption. Finally, after almost 4 months, Hope was well enough to have the eye removed. As we’ve seen from the many cases we have helped with, Hope will recover and eventually won’t even realize that she has only one eye. Please continue your prayers and positive thoughts for this sweetheart. Without your donations and prayers, we could not give these babies a second chance of life. ~ dianaHope update 4:14:17

Mickey – She Lost an Eye as a Result of Abuse – She Now Needs a Home

3/7/16 – Please share and let’s find Mickey the perfect home. This sweet girl has been through a lot — not only a horrible foster experience which resulted in her going blind but she was recently adopted and then given up because she had tapeworms. Here is her story as given by her rescuer:

“Mickey is doing very well. Her stitches from her recent eye removal have been removed and she is healing beautifully.

Mickey is a 4 1/2 month old kitten. Who had a very hard start in life…. She was first rescued by our rescue (No Dogs Left Behind) and sent to a foster home where she was thrown in the basement to starve to death. When our rescue received this information we called the police department and quickly went over to rescue Mickey. After rushing Mickey to the vet, we found out Mickey’s chances of making it was very low. We nurtured Mickey back to health the very best we could. It was a very slow process. Due to a neglected upper respiratory infection, Mickey needed her left eye removed. Knowing the vet bills were going to be extremely high 4 paws 1 heart kindly stepped forward to pay for Mickey’s vet bills.

Mickey successfully went through surgery and is now healing very nicely. Mickey is completely blind but she is a very strong kitten who fought for her own life. We are very excited to see where Mickeys health is today and we are very proud of Mickey. Mickey is up-to-date on shots and has been spayed, she is great with other cats, dogs and children. She is completely litter box trained and acts like any other kitten should, She loves to play, and is definitely a lap cat, She also loves to sleep next to you at night, Mickey is a very affectionate kitten. Finn and Ruby – Updates

2/23/16 – An Update on Finn and Ruby: We were contacted by Heather with the following story:
“On Christmas Eve my friend and I were on our way to deliver Xmas cookies to the homeless. We noticed while exiting the freeway two dogs running past us towards the freeway. We immediately got out and were running after these dogs on the shoulder of the freeway to save them from getting hit. We put them in our car once caught and now they are at my residence in Clinton Twp. They are isolated as there is no way they are up to date on anything and looks like they were just used in someone’s backyard for breeding. The female is plump but had fleas and burrs matted in her hair. The male is in bad shape as you can feel every one in his hips and he walks with a hitch as I think he may have bad hips? He’s skinny and has burrs matted in his hair. They appear to be older like between 7-10? They are currently still in my basement in a kennel and we take them out every few hours but they need vet care. My guess is they most likely have worms and heart worms.
My friend and I are willing to foster them until a rescue can take them on. It’s not ideal as we both have our own animals but we can’t see them get euthanized. Every place I’ve Called is full. It’s been almost a week now so I need a plan as to how to get these animals healthy. ~ Heather”
4 Paws 1 Heart worked with Precious Pets to take care of medical treatment for Ruby and Finn which included treatment for heart worm. Finn is now ready to be adopted but Ruby is pregnant. Anyone interested in Finn should contact Heather at

More Kittens Needing Forever Homes

Kane, Holly, Dean, Randy and Chyna are all looking for their furever homes!! Dean, Randy and Chyna are siblings. They are all well adjusted to other cats and dogs. Dean is the only cat who has a stipulation and that is he must go to a home with other pets, he actively seeks out their companionship (dogs and cats alike… He’d make a great clinic cat!), otherwise there are no stipulations. As an added bonus, all adoption fees will go back to 4P1H, who have graciously paid for the babies vet care. If you’re interested in adopting one or more of these babies , or if you have any questions, please email me at kittensw:heathersterner12:27:15
