2/3/21 – As you can see, this guy was left behind at a motel. A rescue and foster has been found and 4 Paws 1 Heart is taking care of his medical needs which always includes neutering, testing, and vaccines. Recently a poster commented about us not helping dogs and again, I want to say, we are non-discriminatory. We will help any stray dog or cat as long as we have the funds. It’s just that over the past 10 months, because of the shut downs and restrictions in mid-2020, many more cats have been born on the streets than dogs and many more have been injured or gotten sick. This doesn’t necessarily mean there aren’t dogs needing our help but we have not been contacted about dogs as we have with cats. In fact, in just this past week we have been contacted about 2 hoarding situations which we’ve posted about and just learned that an additional 11 cats were found on the premises and 13 dead cats were found in the freezer. We are working with the rescuers on that also. In addition, we have had many of our TNR rescue friends who have been working very diligently in mobile home parks which often have an overwhelming number of cats left behind when people move, contact us for assistance. In all cases, because of our loyal donors, we have not had to say no yet. Thank YOU. – diana

Dorian, Mee Mee, George – Showed Up at Friendly Homes Who Sought Help; One with Wounds on Head and Neck
1/31/21 – Meet Dorian, Mee Mee, and George. All three showed up at friendly homes who then reached out for assistance. A friend of 4 paws 1 heart stepped up to find placement and take them to the vet for medical treatment. Mee Mee will be going to All About Animals on Tuesday. Dorian already had the works and is with Ferndale Cat Shelter waiting for a permanent home. George had to visit a standard veterinary in that he had wounds on this head and neck. He was treated, neutered, tested, and vaccinated and is also with Ferndale Cat Shelter. It truly takes a village. – diana
Moore – RIP – Found Suffering from an Injury or a Toxin
Your donations help the animals who would otherwise be unable to seek medical care.. We were contacted because this sweet kitten had an unknown condition that may have been the result of an injury or a toxin. She was suffering and in need of urgent medical attention. Unfortunately, she was to sick to heal and humane euthanasia was decided based on her diagnostics and the professional advice of our Veterinarian. She went peaceful surrounded by love. This is why your support means so much to 4 paws 1 heart. It’s because without the availability of medical funds a kitten like this might not have gotten the chance to ever see a doctor. Gina
Samantha (after and before) – Over One Year in a Shelter After Being Rescued by Gina — Finally in Her Loving Home
1/28/21 – Some of you may remember one of my most memorable rescue situations. Samantha.. Well, I got to have a quick visit and bring some toys to this beautiful girl today. She has a long sad back story, but now she has a wonderful life and I couldn’t be happier for her. It was heartwarming to see how happy she is and how well she is thriving. I’m so glad that her previous owner surrendered her, I heart dog shelter didn’t give up on her until they found the perfect fit, and 4 paws 1heart supporters were able to help with the knee surgeries she required. This was another one of those cases that truly took a village but all soooo worth it! – Gina
Chris – Update – Had His Eyelid Surgery
1/28/21 – A couple of weeks ago I posted the story of Chris (Cross-Eyed Chris) born without upper eyelids, and Squirrel-both were ‘barn’ kittens. Chris was missing eyelids and Squirrel’s rib cage was curved inward. Well yesterday I got a report from Chris’ rescuers, Paws, Awes, and Claws. Here it is:
“Chris had his surgery today with Dr. Zalac . Here is his first post-op picture. He’s looking a little rough, but the swelling should go down soon. He can open his eyes but prefers not to since they’re sore. Doc said she is not worried about the right eye, but his left eye was “a mess” (which we knew to some extent). She thinks it’s possible he will need another surgery on that eye, but we won’t know until it starts to heal. Fingers crossed! He has a recheck with her next week and then one more in two weeks! Thank you guys again for all of your help!! – Courtney”
Of course, we have committed to Chris and if he needs another surgery, we will be there for him. A huge thank you to our many rescuers and especially our donors. Without the very loving and generous people who follow us, there would be no one to give these stray animals a second chance at life. – diana
Asher (and others) – Found Very Ill, Unable to Eat Due to an Ulcer in His Mouth, In a Hoarding Situation
1/27/21 – Asher is one of 6 cats rescued the other day. They were living in a hoarding situation where 17 cats need to be rescued. Asher was the only one visibly sick and not neutered. He hadn’t been eating and he was flea infested–his fur felt like he had mange. He was immediately taken to a vet with our authorization and the others will be spayed/neutered/vaccinated/tested — whatever is needed at All About Animals. We have committed to caring for all 17 when they are rescued.
Asher was treated for the fleas and given steroids for the severe flea allergy which also may be responsible for an ulcer found in his mouth. It’s probably why the poor guy wasn’t eating. He was also neutered but because of the steroid treatment, he won’t be vaccinated for two weeks. Asher is the first two photos, and the others are of the cats who will be taken to All About Animals. Two of the females may be pregnant. Also, there are photos of the conditions these poor animals were living in. If anyone is interested in these cats, please contact Keri at: [email protected] – diana

Apollo – Rescued from a Hoarding Situation – 1 Sibling Died
1/25/21 – A CALL OUT for prayers! I was contacted by the owner of one of the veterinary clinics with whom we work closely. We were asked if we could help with this little guy’s medical. He will be starting treatment for FIP which can be deadly. The treatment has been successful but it is expensive and requires a serious commitment from the person caring for the cat. This is Apollo and here is his story:
Apollo was rescued from a hoarding situation where there were 30 black cats amongst a few others. Apollo’s foster family was asked to take him in along with a sister and brother. Unfortunately they only ended up with Apollo and his sister as his brother passed away from wobbly kitten syndrome, and while they were able to find an amazing home for his sister, they fell in love with Apollo and so did their other cat Orion. Apollo began to get sick in the middle of December. Because the family had been out of work due to the pandemic and were also facing human medical issues, they had to wait for their stimulus in order to get Apollo to a vet. But as soon as they received it, they rushed him to the vet. He tested negative for FIV and FeLV and no one could figure out what was wrong so the vet gave him antibiotics and pain meds. A week later he started declining faster and upon taking him back to the vet, he was diagnosed with FIP.
Here are some photos of this handsome boy, one with his buddy, Orion. As we often say, it truly takes a village to care for the abandoned and abused. I’m praying that we can give Apollo a second chance at the life he so much deserves. – diana
