2/11/18 – Meet Ginger and Sonny. They are 7 month old sweeties whose family moved and threw them outside to fend for themselves. They were rescued from the same trailer park that a couple of other cats and a dog were found. I don’t honestly understand the cruelty of people but thank God there are people who will not turn their back. 4 Paws 1 Heart will be taking care of all of their medical needs and if anyone is interested in giving them a forever, loving home, please contact Jo at: joadd18@gmail.com ~ dianaginger 2:11:17sonny 2:11:17

Ali (aka Bentley) Another Happy Update

2/10/17 – Ali (now Bentley)was caught in a recliner — he was just a couple of days old. He endured several surgeries but thrived under Gina’s love and care. Look at him today. If you want to follow his story from day one, check out our website and search under ‘Ali’. Thank you to his wonderful mom for sharing this with us. – Diana

“Just thought we would pop in and let all of Bentleys (Ali) supporters know just how happy our little family is! He makes me laugh when I want to be mad at him, he annoys me when we sleep because he hogs the bed yet he tucks his entire face into my neck and hugs me with his arms I find myself kissing his gentle face till I’m asleep. He has absolutely no idea how strong he is, so when he launches across the room and lands on top of me I want to scream but then we lock eyes and I notice his wrinkled forehead and raised eyebrows and just melt. I thank him every single day for choosing me to be his mommy. I love my baby boy to the moon and back 💗💗💗💗 He truly completes me.- Emily”ali:bentlley 2:10:17

Mickey – Found Near a Cemetery, Drinking from a Muddy Puddle and Heart Worm Positive

2/8/17 – A few weeks ago we received a call from a friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart who we’ve helped in the past with animals she has rescued. She had been on her way to a local cemetery when she noticed a very thin dog drinking from a muddy puddle. Her first reaction was to go buy a burger and feed him but when she approached him, he was so kind and he looked so pitiful, she knew that she had to save him. Although Shayla and her family are doing the best they can to keep Mickey rested because of an extreme case of heart worm, she could really use some help because with her animals and an active family where both adults work, she worries that Mickey is not getting all of the attention he would like and need. Thus far, 4 Paws 1 Heart has paid for Mickey’s initial visit where it was discovered that he would need surgery for his cherry eye and also need treatment for heart worm. He will also need vaccinating and neutering.; although, it will be at least another month before treatment can start. On Sunday, I received another call from Shayla because her dog caught Mickey’s cherry eye and his Mickey’s eye was swelling. We made immediate arrangements for Mickey to see a vet that day. 4 Paws 1 Heart is committing to helping Mickey get happy and healthy again. ~ dianamicky w:shayla weston 1:15:17

Baby – Very Emaciated and Wandering Through the Woods Dying of Leptospirosis

2/6/17 – RIP Baby. Last Wednesday I received a call about this very sweet, emaciated dog who was found wandering in the woods. We immediately authorized a visit to the doctor where it was found that he was heart worm positive. He was so emaciated it was difficult to withdraw blood for further tests. Yesterday, I received the call that Baby was not eating and he had been vomiting and had diarrhea. My concern was Parvo. With the help of another rescue, we were referred to Dix Animal Hospital who was very willing to work with us and arranged for Baby to be seen asap. Upon examination and testing, the doctors suspected that Baby had contracted leptospirosis. This poor sweetheart had so many issues, it was recommended and we (the rescuers and I) agreed that Baby should not be put through any more suffering. He was humanely euthanized and now will no longer suffer or have to search for food and love. Upon finding Baby, the rescuers, deep in their hearts, felt that Baby would not survive but they wanted to make sure that he would not die alone and suffering in the woods. God Bless all of those wonderful people who don’t turn their backs and thank God for all of our donors who make our mission possible. ~ dianababy 2:6:17

Horace – Rescued Before Being Given to a High-Kill Shelter

2/5/17 – Another Super Bowl Happy Update: Horace before love and after love. Horace was being taken by his owner to a local, high-kill shelter. Fortunately, protestors at the site were able to get Horace surrendered to them and we were contacted about paying his medical. We did that but in the process found out our poor Horace is heart worm positive. Horace’s heart worm treatment will be covered by 4 Paws 1 Heart. Your donations give abandoned and abused animals a second chance at life. ~ dianahorace 2:5:17horace---2:5:17

Sosa – Rescued from an Abandoned Home

2/3/17 – This beautiful girl, Sosa, was rescued from an abandoned home. Unfortunately, in so many urban neighborhoods, dogs are left to fend for themselves and, worse, very often their dead bodies are left on the streets. They are either the victims of accidents, dog fights, and neglect. Fortunately, Sosa, is one of the lucky ones who was rescued from certain death. Sosa’s medical treatment was paid for with donations made to 4 Paws 1 Heart. She is one beautiful dog. Please wish her a life of love. ~ dianasosa 2:3:17

Smokey Joe – Forgotten and Abused By His Family Until the Decided to Give Him Up

2/1/17 – Meet Smokey Joe who is with I Heart Dogs Rescue and Animal Haven. I Heart Dogs is not only a great no-kill shelter but they also help a local non-profit which houses victims of domestic and sexual violence and assists them through the process of healing. Very often, victims of abuse will stay in an abusive situation because of a pet. They worry that the family pet will be harmed by the abuser. Thankfully, I Heart Dogs came along and decided to provide temporary shelter in these situations. We found out about Smokey because, as is usually the case, his medical bills were increasing and the shelter needed help with Smokey’s medical needs. We were happy to help Smokey and I Heart Dogs. After several doctor visits, 4 Paws 1 Heart assisted Smokey with further tests with a specialist. Here is the beginning of his story:

“Smokey Joe was surrendered to us in late November because his owner was moving in with her fiancé who is scared of dogs. He is a 5 year old pit-bull that her son brought him home as a young puppy. Smokey Joe lived with her until he was surrendered to us in November. Smokey Joe weighed 67 lbs. when surrendered to us and seemed to be in good health, but we immediately noticed his disinterest in eating. We attributed it to being depressed. We tried all kinds of food as well as hand-feeding so that he would take in some nutrition. After a month one of our volunteers, Terri, volunteered to foster him and took him home right after Christmas. Within the first week of foster, she noticed he was walking on the top of his back left foot and he seemed to be in pain. He was taken to our regular vet, Wilson’s Veterinary Hospital, where we learned he now weighed 40 lbs., and that his foot (and possibly his entire leg) had no feeling (which attributed to walking on his foot incorrectly).”smokey jo 2:1:17

Baby Carrots – Attacked By Her Kitten

baby carrots 1:31:17--baby carrots 1:31:171/31/17 – Baby Carrots was, unfortunately, placed in a home where she wasn’t be watched as closely as she should have. She had spent weeks under a bed and finally rescued only to find that she had an abscess on her head and was very emaciated. The people who placed her thought it would be a good thing because she was placed with one of her kittens. Baby Carrots was removed from the home and is now with her original rescuer. Her medical is being paid for by 4 Paws 1 Heart. It’s for reasons like this that many of our rescue friends are very tenacious when it comes to placing animals they have rescued. Baby Carrots will be fine and we think she will be taken in by one of our rescue friends. ~ diana
