Trap/Neuter/Return – Stopping the Overpopulation of Cats

3/29/17 – We were contacted by Safe Haven Rescue who has been trapping and caring for cats. Some are domesticated and get adopted out, others are feral but have a wonderful cat community to live in consisting of outdoor kennels where they can come and go and be safe. We were very happy to pay for ten of these abandoned babies to be fixed and vaccinated. Check out the diagram that I’ve included to learn what a difference we can make by just neutering/spaying 10 cats. A donation of $40 – $50 can ensure that hundreds of animals will not be born to the unfriendly streets. There’s not too many ways we can do so much with so little. ~ dianaferal cats w:sherry warren 3:23:17bac59b74ee50847e19293c9f5ed5f67f

Ali (aka Bentley) – Caught in a Recliner at Just Days Old; Happy Update

“Bentley” formerly known as “Ali”, I get to puppy sit my favorite little man this weekend. He has grown into such a handsome boy and he is huge! He was the size of a 1 pound burger when his family abandoned him at only 2 days old. It was a blessing because he wouldn’t have survived without 4 paws 1 heart…. and without your donations. We were able to give him all of the medical care required along with the 24/7 care due to his injuries from the recliner which nearly sliced off his rear leg & 2 of his rear toes off. I am so blessed to have raised him and to have had the proper skills to do so. He is one pup I will never forget. ♡♡♡ Ginaali (aka bentley))) 3:24:17Ali (aka bentley) 3:24:17

Axel – Happy Update in His Forever Home

3/24/17 – Happy Update! You might remember Axel. Axel was chained outside 24/7 suffering from Entropion. Entropion is a condition where the eyelid is turned inward resulting in the eyelashes rubbing against the eye. The condition is not only painful but without surgery, it can result in blindness. Fortunately, Axel was saved by a very kind woman who contacted us for help. Axel had his surgery and today he is doing very well in his new home where he is much loved. Here he is today and when he was first rescued. ~ dianaaxel w:jennifer McMican.3:21:17jpgaxel w:jenniferMcMican

Meadow – Happy Update

3/22/17 – Happy Update! It was just a little over one month ago when I received a call about this very sweet cat who had been living in a managed cat community. While the caretakers of the community were trying to save the 21 cats in the community from a exterminator company who had been hired by the condominium complex to ‘get rid of” the cats, Meadow showed up with obvious injuries. The bone below her mouth was exposed and some think or one had obviously attacked her. During the first go around in the hospital, poor Meadow waited six days to get surgery. Finally, when she had surgery it was also determined that her jaw had been broken, so it was decided to remove some teeth so that the jaw would align better. Shortly after the surgery, she again was forced to stay in the hospital. A doctor who did not do the surgery noticed something and felt the surgeon needed to see her. This resulted in another few days in the hospital while poor Meadow waited to see the surgeon. Well, the good news is that she is healing well and happy to be without pain and loved. Best Wishes for a long life for sweet Meadow. ~ dianameadow3:16:17meadow-227171-300x225

Charlie – RIP Sweet Girl — Shot With a BB

charlie w:rachel gerstner 3:16:173/21/17 – RIP Sweet Charlie. I wish we could save every animal we are called about but sometimes the best we can do is to humanely end their suffering. A huge thank you to Rachel Gerstner, who is always so willing, no matter what time of day, to respond to an animal in need. ~ diana
“Hi Diana,
We got a call about Charlie, who had been being fed outside but was very sweet & friendly. Unfortunately there were some very bad people who had shot her with a bb gun. A neighbor noticed the wound & took her into a vet to have the wound shaved & cleaned. Unfortunately a few months later the wound was still bleeding & showing signs of infection, the hair had not grown back & she was extremely emaciated, having been fending for herself outside for so long. The neighborhood she was in also had coyotes, so a concerned friend decided to contact us for help. We immediately contacted 4 paws 1 heart & Diana said yes, of course they would help, with no hesitation!! We got Charlie into the vet the next day, where it was determined that she had FIV, inflamed & enlarged intestines, almost no teeth left, was extremely emaciated & even though she looked like a kitten, was quite old. The vet said her prognosis was not good & it was decided between us all that humane euthanasia was the best option for her. We’re very sad that we couldn’t save Charlie, but we’re glad that she’s not out there suffering & fending for herself in the cold anymore. RIP Charlie… You will never be forgotten & we’re glad you were able to experience love & warmth & a full belly on your last day & night with us. We all love you! Thank you so much 4 paws 1 heart & Diana for always helping these innocent animals who need us!! You are very loved too!!! ~ Rachel”

Molly – Neglected and Living in an Unhealthy Environment

3/20/17 – Molly is a very sweet 8 year old beagle. Even with her age and her recent surrender by her owners, she’s still a very happy, loving girl. An individual rescuer we have helped before contacted us seeking medical help for Molly. Molly had been neglected, not fed, and was very underweight. She was rescued from a very filthy and unhealthy situation. Once safe and in her home, Olivia noticed a bad smell from Molly’s mouth and when she checked found several rotted teeth and something which resembled a cyst. 4 Paws 1 Heart authorized Molly’s visit to the vet. Thankfully, her heart worm test was negative and she was vaccinated. The next step will be to have her teeth cleaned before it is determined what teeth may need to be removed. Also, a biopsy will be taken of the cyst.
Please say a prayer for Molly that her cyst is benign and that we will be able to get her healthy again. I will keep you informed of her progress. ~ diana

Jinxy – Living Outside, He was Injured in a Fight

3/16/17 – It was in early February that we got a call for help from a supporter of 4 Paws 1 Heart. A cat he had been feeding for a few months had shown up on his porch, injured. He thought the cat had been under a care or gotten into a bad fight. The little guy was dirty and had blood around his eye/nose area. Unfortunately, our friend did not have a trap. It was Superbowl Sunday, when this caring man drove all the way from Lansing, MI to St. Clair Shores, MI (about 90+ minutes) to borrow our trap and get advice from our friend, Master Trapper Debra B., and at least get Jinxy to a vet. After a bit, he was able to trap him and have him examined by a local vet. After about two weeks, Jinxy was transported to Debra where he was taken in by our friends at A Hopeful Heart Animal Rescue. We in turn provided medical dollars for Jinxy’s neutering and future medical needs. We are so very thankful when we are able to make a difference in not only our animal lives but in the lives of people who care. ~ dianajinxy w:randy cook 2:5:17

Beauty – Domesticated but Found Living Amongst a Feral Colony

3/15/17 – For all of us working to save the abandoned and abused, it breaks our hearts to know of the many dogs and cats left to fend for themselves in this brutal weather. They are left without food, shelter, and more importantly, love. Thankfully, Beautyy was recently rescued and is now in a warm home being loved by a family. 4 Paws 1 Heart was, once again, happy to be able to make the difference between life and death because we will support our rescue friends with the needed medical assistance. Please don’t turn your back if you find a stray animal on the street. And, remember to always encourage spaying and neutering. ~ dianaBeauty 3:15:17

Blue – He Lived in an Abusive Home, Then Abandoned, Now Needs Surgery on Two Legs

3/14/17 – Please say a prayer for Blue who had ACL surgery late yesterday. Blue is a 3 year old Mastiff who spent the first few months of his life in a very abusive home where he wasn’t fed and was often punished for getting in the trash. Eventually, the owners were jailed for some other offense and friends of the family took in Blue where he was loved for a while. Then the mom had to move and her son went into the Marines, leaving Blue to find another forever home. Some kind people heard of his plight and took him in only to find that the ACL in both legs were broken; one leg requiring immediate surgery. Poor Blue spent months in pain and unable to put weight on his back legs. He could only ‘hop’ around. Fortunately, with the partnership of some friends we were able to give Blue the help he needed and we are praying that his first surgery goes well so that the other can be scheduled in a timely fashion. ~ dianablue
