5/22/19 – While working as a contractor for the electric utility, a caring man came across a starving dog. The dog’s hip bone seemed to be coming “out of his skin” and he had many scars and scabs. He and his girlfriend took Belfor to a vet and although the hip issue was corrected, Belfor was found to be heart worm positive. They were told to contact us and we said ‘yes’. Belfor started his 30-day regiment yesterday and will receive his final treatments in about one month. The couple were unable to find his owners but they have fallen in love with him. So very often, owners dump their pets on the street once they find out there is an expensive medical issue. That’s my assumption because this seems to happen far too often. Prayers for this 3-4 year old boy. ~ diana

Team Chance and 4 Paws 1 Heart Wishes All Moms a Happy Mother’s Day
5/12/19 – I couldn’t have said it better. Happy Mother’s Day to all and thank you for making our mission possible. A number of these cuties continue to be supported by 4 Paws 1 Heart because they have been deemed un-adoptable due to age or injuries. May God watch over all of the mothers – fur or human. And, during another difficult “kitten season”, we commit to do everything we can to reduce the number of unwanted animals from being born. ~ diana

Dexter – Left Behind in a Basement When Owners Moved
5/9/19 – Meet Dexter. His owner left him behind, in the basement, when they moved. Our friend, Megan, with Friends of Scooby, took him in and brought him to one of our favorite veterinarians, Dr. Zalac, Orion Animal Hospital. Dexter had a broken tooth, an abscess on his face, and had ‘yeasty’ ears. He had surgery yesterday to extract the broken tooth and dental cleaning. He was also given antibiotics for his infections. Anyone interested in this very abused boy should contact Megan at: [email protected] . ~ diana

“I met this dog and her yard mate a little over a year go. She was living in filth on a porch with broken windows, no shelter from the elements and no food or water. While her yard mate was living on a chain with no straw in his dog house, a frozen water bucket and a food bowl full of mud.
I started providing food and straw to fatten up their scrawny bodies. They were vaccinated and Micro-chipped. And then sent to be spayed and neutered – it was there that we discovered Piggy had severe ear infections in both ears and Cauz was heartworm positive with elevated kidney and liver levels. We started the process of treating both dogs and they were moved up north to a foster home. Their amazing foster taught them how to be a house dog. She gave them stability, rules and a routine. She taught them that all humans aren’t bad and showed them unconditional love.
3 weeks after being cleared for adoption, Piggy tore her CCL in her right knee requiring surgery. Football squares were sold, bottles were returned, donations were collected – what we lacked, 4 Paws 1 Heart made up the difference. Surgery was done on December 17th and she was moved to another foster home closer to me. She is still in the healing process but she is doing fantastic. She is now on her 3rd foster home and waiting to be adopted.
She loves kids and other dogs and most recently we discovered she is OK with cats. – Megan”
Bella – She Was Brought to Emergency but the Rescuers Did Not Have Enough Money to Treat Her
5/4/19 – We were very thankful that we could make the difference between life and death. We were told that our dollars enabled the rescue to give this sweet puppy the additional medical treatment he needed. Thank you to our donors and to the many rescuers who give up so much of their lives and hearts to make a difference for these abandoned animals. ~ diana

“I didn’t add in my previous post because we always ask before tagging any other orginazation…
Not only did we receive a total of 9 donations for Bella. Diana Rascano with 4 Paws 1 Heart also donated for the rest of Bella’s vet bill.
THANK YOU SO MUCH TO ALL OF YOU FOR HELPING BELLA💞
Blu – His Owner Died and the Friends Who Took Over Could No Longer Care For Him
5/3/19 – Meet Blu (the boy on the left). Sadly, his owner died a few months ago and the friends who took him in are now being evicted from their home and can’t continue to care for him. Fortunately, our friend, Cortney, has found a foster and will take him in under her rescue but we will pay for him to be neutered. So very sad for all involved. Anyone interested in this sweetheart should contact Cortney at: [email protected] . – diana

Tater – Found in an Abandoned Home and Found to be Heart Worm Positive
4/30/19 – Tater was found in an abandoned home. She was taken to All About Animals by her finder where she was vaccinated, spayed, and treated for tape worm. She was also found to be positive for heart worm. At that point, we were contacted for help. We arranged for a visit to one of our favorite veterinary hospitals, Patterson’s in Clinton Twp., and Tater was started on her heart worm treatment. She was also found to have whipworm and that treatment was also given. Please remember Tater in your prayers and pray for all of the animals out there suffering from injuries and disease with no one to care for them. Without your donations, these animals would never have a second chance at life. ~ diana

Rakestraw – Thrown into the Lobby of an Veterinary Hospital
4/25/19 – Yesterday I received a call from a vet we work with. A little 9 lb., 6 month old, emaciated boston terrier/chihuahua/mix was thrown into the lobby and before the staff could get to the door, the car sped off. The vet was asking for our help. I made contact with a few of my favorite rescues and, may God Bless them, each of them came through and offered to help. Trust me—this doesn’t always happen–but I was just thankful that 3 rescues stepped up to help this poor little dog. 4 Paws 1 Heart will pay for any medical needed. The only thing that has been done so far, are vaccinations; the doctor said he was too young for a heart worm test. As you can see, this little guy has quite an underbite. The doc said he is very lovable. Anyone interested in this cutie (who was not named yet), should contact Rejoyceful Animal Rescue. I’m sure they will be posting updates on their facebook page. ~ diana

Teddy – Was Used by for Pesticides Experiments
4/24/19 – A Beautiful Beginning! This is Teddy. He was one of the many dogs being used for pesticide experiments by Dow. Once my friend, David Rubello, read about what was being done to these innocent animals, he contacted me to discuss the situation. It was not too long ago that Dave and his wife adopted a Beagle, Cleo, who they fell madly in love with and now they were on a mission to save one more. Here is the happy beginning for Teddy. I would like to add that Dave is a former St. Clair Shores City Council person, but more importantly, he continues to play an integral role in the many activities within the Shores. Whether it’s the Memorial Day Parade, the Concerts in the Park, or the Agua Fest (all in which 4 Paws 1 Heart will be having an appearance/fundraiser). As you can see, community service takes on many facets — saving animals is one of them. Wishing Teddy the very best life ever. ~ diana
