Riot – Fighting the Parvo Virus

Update: just found out Riot is a girl.
7/19/18 – Dear Friends, It’s been one stressful day for not only me, but our rescuers, and our poor little boy, Riot. We need your prayers and anything you can afford to donate. In fact, a supporter has offered to MATCH up to $1,000 in donations between now and next week, Friday, July 27, 2018 to help us with the two parvovirus dogs we took on over the past week. Please help by donating at: http://4paws1heart.com/

RIOT Update: After 24 hours in emergency, Riot was moved to a day practice in hopes of getting him appropriate medical treatment at less of a cost. As you know, it’s imperative that we not only think about the animal but we have to watch our expenses. Unfortunately, it was not too long when I realized that I made a mistake and should have kept this sweet boy at the emergency. So, off he went again to the Emergency hospital. Riot’s white cell levels have been consistently dropping but we still have hope. Little did I know that puppies have less of a chance of beating parvo because they are already starting out with a very limited immune system. He is now having a feeding tube installed while getting fluids and other drugs. Please say a prayer, send some positive energy, and, if you can donate what you can by using the donate link on the left side of this page. Thank YOU, dianariot 7:19:18 riot 7:19:18==

Riot – While in the Municipal Shelter, She Tested Positive for Parvo and Was Going to be Euthanized

7/18/18 – We have now committed to helping a second parvo virus positive puppy in just a little over a week and any donations would be greatly appreciated.
Riot is just a puppy who was going to be euthanized at the Detroit Animal Control after being tested positive for the parvo virus. Please understand that municipal shelters just don’t have the means to provide medical in these situations. Although he was not showing symptoms at the time, the fact that he tested positive was enough for the death sentence. I was contacted last night and over night, he started to show signs of the virus. He is on his way to the emergency now. We hope we have been able to catch this deadly virus soon enough for full recovery.
If you can help, donations can be made by using the ‘donation’ link on the left side of this page. Or by mail, at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. Thank you and please send a prayer and some positive energy. ~ diana

Thor – His Owners Were Evicted and He Was Left Behind With the Parvo Virus

7/18/18 Update – After two visits to the E.R. and one visit to a day practice, Thor is now eating solid food and seems to have turned the corner.  Continued prayers for this boy.

7/13/18 – Prayers for two very sweet animals who needed very serious medical attention this past week which was ( and is) being funded by 4 Paws 1 Heart.

“The story of Thor–
What used to be my neighbors, were evicted from their home around 2 weeks ago. Thor was their dog from a little puppy, when they were forced to the streets they regrettably abandoned him in my yard knowing that I did fostering and rescued many strays. I’ve watched this loving dog come up from a puppy into a well trained companion. Even though I understand how they came to the decision to leave him behind, it still baffled me. I knew I had to take him in under my wing and protect him because he would not have the 1st clue about being locked in a cage/kennel nor living in the streets. After him being in my home for the last 13 days he fell ill. From a playful puppy full of energy on Friday to a dead dog walking on Saturday, I could tell just by looking at him Saturday morning that he was just not the happy puppy he was just the day before something was seriously wrong that’s when I emailed 4 paws one heart asking for help. Who in turn replied and graciously offered to help us. – Abigail”

Thor was taken to the emergency hospital where he spent 24 hours being treated for the parvo virus. He was then sent home with meds and the rescuer has been working closely with Gina to ensure he is getting the best medical care. He is scheduled to visit one of our other doctors today to be examined and for use to be assured that Thor is on his way to full recovery. ~ diana

Samantha – Was Going to be Taken to a Shelter Because Her Elderly Parent Couldn’t Handle the Puppiness

7/13/18 – Samantha was adopted as a young puppy by an elderly woman. Starting at 4 months old, the woman started having issues because she couldn’t deal with normal puppy energy. Samantha was never socialized properly or exercised. She might have never been on a leash or outside prior to being surrendered. The owner could not care for Sam any longer and she wanted to put her down. She didn’t feel that she had any other option until Gina offered to take her. Samantha was saturated in urine which made Gina think that she was never let outside to urinate. She’s very fearful on a leash but she’s getting better. Our good friends at I Heart Dogs has taken in Samantha and is currently looking for a foster or forever home. Please contact them if you are interested. They say she is very sweet once she gets to know you. We were happy to take care of basic medical needs. ~ dianasamantha 7:13:18

Thelma and Louise – Abandoned in a Sweltering Garage

7/11/18 – They were abandoned in a sweltering garage and found very malnourished. Thankfully, they were rescued and we were contacted for medical help. Thelma and Louise did see our vet last Saturday and were treated, vaccinated, and tested for heart worm. In about a month they will be spayed. Anyone interested in giving these beauties a forever home, should contact their rescuer, Lori at: plv020410@gmail.com

Booey – Struck with and Infection or Bacterial Disease

7/3/18 – Booey had an episode which left him unable to move his front legs and resulted in limited movement of his neck. He was rushed to emergency. The vet thinks it could be an infection or bacteria in the central nervous system causing this. He is currently being prepped for a CSF test (takes the Cerebrospinal fluid from lower back).

Booey has a long road ahead but is improving and responding slowly to treatment daily. Booey has kept his spirits up and always has a kiss for all that comes near. 4 Paws 1 Heart is happy that we could help in his journey to recovery. He is with Make A Difference Rescue. ~ dianabooey 7:3:18

Liberty – Thrown Out of the Back of a Vehicle

Thankfully, Gina was there and because of the amazing support of our donors and Gina’s strong connections to the medical world, 4 paws 1 heart was able to have this dog taken to and treated by emergency doctors — but, unfortunately the owners cannot reimburse. We never know the situation with a stray animal. We are thankful an owner was found. We just pray that the owner will be more watchful. There is still a dog missing. – diana
