3/27/18 – Those who dedicate their lives to rescue and veterinary care are heroes in my world. On March 15 I was contacted by an independent rescuer who was able to get animal control to pick up two animals who had been hanging around a discarded mattress on a city street. Mattie and Owen appeared to be ‘boyfriend and girlfriend’ because they wouldn’t leave each others’ side; both dogs were pretty beaten up. Mattie appeared to have recently given birth to puppies but they could not be found and Owen had cropped ears. It is suspected that both dogs were dumped after they had been used and abused. Unfortunately, once examined both dogs tested positive for heart worm and we were contacted to see if we could help. We agreed and arrangements were made to have them see a vet once the stray hold was complete. That day came but when Mattie was temperament tested, it was sadly determined that she could not go to a rescue because she could be a danger in her current state. The positive news though was that Owen was good to go. Owen was taken to one of our partner vets and on Saturday, March 30, Owen will start his heart worm treatment. Prayers for Mattie that she will no longer suffer and many prayers for Owen that he gets through his heart worm treatment with flying colors and finds a forever home where he will be forever loved. 3/25/18 -This is Bunny.
4 paws 1 heart took this girl from a shelter so she could have a chance. She is very sweet, about 1 to 2 yr old, 60 pounds, fixed, and current on vaccines. She needs a foster or a rescue group to help us out! Please contact me at:  [email protected]  if you can help.

3/16/18 – It is suspected that SaMour was being groomed as bait for dog fighting. Just a small girl, she was found locked up with a much larger dog. She is now safe; tested, vaccinated and spayed. Unlike our experience with so many dogs this year, SaMour tested negative for heart worm. We wish her a lifetime of fun and good health. ~ diana

3/12/18 – Max has had a horrible life; how horrible we can only guess. His spirit, his mind, and his body have been horribly damaged but a kind woman rescued him and hopes that with the help of 4 paws 1 heart, we can make him whole again. Here is his story as told by Amy. ~ diana
“I found Max on a busy street; he was covered in blood and he was so weak, he just fell in my arms. He walked sideways. He was so dehydrated, I had to bottle feed him water for 2 weeks. Max could notmove he laid on my bed on top of puppy pads. I took him to the vet; his immune system was so weak. Max had mange and a serious infection in his jaw that was caused by a bite mark. He had a bunch of different bite marks on his face and his nose. He was very very skinny and you could see every bone in his body. He had a very serious head tilt since he had a serious serious ear infection from ‘them’ cutting a piece of his ear off; they also cut a diamond shape out of his tongue. He was electrocuted and appeared extremely tortured; until this day I’m still finding Issues from the torture. He cannot be kenneled because he freaks out so bad to where he makes himself bleed. He has extreme separation anxiety, fear, and aggressive to men (who he really doesn’t like). Amy”
Max also has ‘lumps’ on his elbows. 4 Paws 1 Heart has taken on Max’s medical and so far he has been treated for a severe ear infection. He’s had a few seizures which may be attributed to that. Max will now be seeing our favorite and most trusted doctors at Patterson Veterinary. Please pray for him an all of the other animals who are so tortured and abused.
