Molly – Neglected and Living in an Unhealthy Environment

3/20/17 – Molly is a very sweet 8 year old beagle. Even with her age and her recent surrender by her owners, she’s still a very happy, loving girl. An individual rescuer we have helped before contacted us seeking medical help for Molly. Molly had been neglected, not fed, and was very underweight. She was rescued from a very filthy and unhealthy situation. Once safe and in her home, Olivia noticed a bad smell from Molly’s mouth and when she checked found several rotted teeth and something which resembled a cyst. 4 Paws 1 Heart authorized Molly’s visit to the vet. Thankfully, her heart worm test was negative and she was vaccinated. The next step will be to have her teeth cleaned before it is determined what teeth may need to be removed. Also, a biopsy will be taken of the cyst.
Please say a prayer for Molly that her cyst is benign and that we will be able to get her healthy again. I will keep you informed of her progress. ~ diana

Blue – He Lived in an Abusive Home, Then Abandoned, Now Needs Surgery on Two Legs

3/14/17 – Please say a prayer for Blue who had ACL surgery late yesterday. Blue is a 3 year old Mastiff who spent the first few months of his life in a very abusive home where he wasn’t fed and was often punished for getting in the trash. Eventually, the owners were jailed for some other offense and friends of the family took in Blue where he was loved for a while. Then the mom had to move and her son went into the Marines, leaving Blue to find another forever home. Some kind people heard of his plight and took him in only to find that the ACL in both legs were broken; one leg requiring immediate surgery. Poor Blue spent months in pain and unable to put weight on his back legs. He could only ‘hop’ around. Fortunately, with the partnership of some friends we were able to give Blue the help he needed and we are praying that his first surgery goes well so that the other can be scheduled in a timely fashion. ~ dianablue

lexi 3:6:173/7/17 – Her owners were dropping her off at a local high-kill shelter where she would have surely been euthanized. They no longer wanted her. Fortunately, the dedicated animal advocates who have been picketing at this shelter, were able to get the dog surrendered to them and they contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart for help. We were happy to help save another precious animal. She has seen a vet and will return to be spayed. Her name is now Lexi. It’s hard to believe what a difference a little care and love can make. We couldn’t keep saying “YES” without the financial support of our friends. ~ diana

Obie and Gizmo – Living With a Homeless Family

2/24/17 – Meet Obi and Gizmo. Our good friend, Rachel G., came across a young homeless man who has been living in his car with his dad and his two dogs who he loves very much. Rachel approached the young man and offered help. She was able to get food donations and 4 Paws 1 Heart offered to take care of much needed medical attention from dental work to neutering, vaccinations, and more. Unfortunately, animals aren’t the only living creatures who are often abandoned and we were very happy we could help the entire homeless family. ~ dianagizmo 2:24:17obie 2:24:17

Abby – Her Owner Passed Away from Stage 4 Cancer

2/22/17 – DONATIONS SAVE LIVES. Abby was returned to Friends of Scooby Rescue around Christmas. Her adopter had passed away from stage 4 lung cancer. She was very attached to her adopter and his death has caused her great trauma to the point where she is showing the same depression and fear she had when she was first rescued from animal control. She is now with a foster family who have been healing her mind and soul and working with her on her anxiety. A few days ago a sore was noticed near Abby’s anus. When the sore got larger, we were called for help. Abby was taken to a veterinarian and it was determined that the abscess had ruptured. Consequently, Abby was treated and given strong doses of antibiotics. Please say a prayer for Abby that she can get over the loss of her dad and again find her forever home.~ diana P.S. Donations can be made through paypal by using the ‘donate’ link on this page or our website4paws1heart.org or by check and sent to P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI . 48080abby 2:22:17

Noki – RIP Sweet Boy

2/21/17 – RIP Sweet Noki. We were contacted by our friend at Friends of Scooby about this very sweet Boxer whose family had already paid over $1,000 in trying to help their baby. Noki was in the hospital for 4 days and treated for Pancreatitis. He wasn’t even out the hospital door before he started vomiting again — but still he was released. The family could not afford to pay for any further medical nor could they pay for the food prescribed, so, for his good, they made the ultimate sacrifice and surrendered their special family member to the rescue. Unfortunately, Noki did not improve and we were contacted for help. We authorized Noki to go to a veterinary hospital where he was kept for 3 days. Finally, it was determined that Noki probably had cancer and was referred to Michigan State University for more poking and prodding. Due to his very poor prognosis and obvious suffering, it was decided by all parties who loved him, to relieve his suffering and let him cross the Rainbow Bridge. I wish that we could have saved Noki but God had other plans. All of our hearts are broken. ~ diananoki 2:218:17noki w:meganblass 2:21:17

Diesel – Kept Chained on a Porch 24/7

2/16/17 – Meet Diesel. Yesterday he had much needed surgery for an eye condition called Entropion. Entropion is a genetic condition in which a portion of the eyelid is inverted causing eyelashes to irritate the eye. This condition is not only painful but can result in blindness. Here is Diesel’s very sad story with a happy beginning. ~ diana

“Hello Diana
My name is Tami I have had the honor to foster Diesel for the last couple weeks. Diesel was brought to our attention when a woman’s mother was begging for someone to do a welfare check on a neighbor’s dog. She said he was left outside all the time and was chained to a porch and hardly fed and his eyes were so infected he could hardly open them. I live close by so I contacted the rescue I work with and said I would go get him to get him out of the cold.
When I got to the house he was inside and the man was very relieved to know he was being taken. They were being evicted and were unable to take him with them.
Diesel was all too willing to jump in the car with me and was sweet as could be. Diesel made it in the house and was sooo scared before even meeting my dogs that he nervously urinated all over himself. After getting in and getting comfortable he met all of my dogs 1 by one and they let him in no problem. He feels the need to be on you at all times. He was supposedly destructive due to separation anxiety. I personally have not seen that aside from stuffed animals if he can get them he will. He loves kids he is not aggressive just playful. He is learning that little children are not toys to play with. I had to have my sister keep him one day when I first brought him home and she has several cats and 1 dog. She had no issues with him and the cats aside from being very curious but no aggression what diesel w:tami white 2:13:17so ever. Every day that goes by he becomes more and more comfortable being on his own. He now will even sleep on the couch instead of on me in my bed.
His eyes were never actually infected although to someone who does not know about his eye condition that is what it would appear to be. He was thin with poor skin condition but that is correcting itself with proper nutrition and care. He is an amazingly gentle dog for the lack of attention he seemed to have received previously. He is so gentle and patient for having been so neglected. He was heart worm negative and came already neutered.
Thank you so very much for your offer to pay for his surgery I can only imagine how wonderful it will be for him to be pain free for the first time in his life very soon. Thank you again from all of us and mostly from Diesel – Tami”
