Meet Mighty Mustang

4 paws 1 heart took in an 8 week old stray kitten that was seen hit by a car tonight. We are currently treating him for head trauma but he is stabilized. Please keep paws crossed that he responds to treatment and we can pull him through this! Thank you Evet for bringing him to Gina for help!  You saved his life!! As Evet said, everybody should have a name- he has been named Mustang – he might be little but he is mighty!
**May7, 2014 Update:  Although Mustang is not out of the woods, he is doing much better**

R.I.P. Little Sweetheart

UPDATE: I am heartbroken to report that the little sweetheart rescued by a 4 Paws 1 Heart friend and taken to the Canton Animal Hospital did not make it through the night. 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for her final cremation and although the total cost of trying to help her set us back over $400, we would not have opted for anything else. To think of her dying on the side of the road, possibly being hit by cars, and being used as prey just makes us work harder to capture funds for all of these poor abandoned babies. ~ diana

Meet Duke

10/23/13 – MEET DUKE — This handsome, sweet boy is 15 weeks old, his owner accidentally ran him over with his car. Duke suffered injuries to his chest and he suffered injuries to his right rear leg that was broken very badly. His injury will require amputation surgery which we would like to get done as soon as possible because he is in a lot of pain. Since Duke is going to be a large breed dog and he has a lot of growing to do he will need a special home; one where they will be conscious of his weight. He would also benefit from some hydro- therapy post operatively. Without our financial assistance this puppy would not have gotten a second chance because the owner chose not to keep him due to the injuries. Duke will have his surgery tomorrow morning with Dr. Balaj. Prayers and financial help for his surgery and therapy is much appreciated. ~ Gina

10/24/2013 – DUKE: Duke was transported to a specialist last night by our good friend, Michelle, of A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue. The doctors want to wait until Duke’s injuries heal a little more before doing any exploratory surgery to determine what might be the next course of action with his leg. They think they can do this tomorrow. We will surely keep everyone updated. Again, prayers and positive energy are always helpful.

Meet Oreo

9/29/13 – Meet Oreo. He is about 2 – 3 years old and was seen being hit by a car two nights before. When Oreo arrived in the Emergency, he was in a fetal position, curled up because he could not stand or walk. Oreo also had maggot eggs on both sides of his face, and literally, was skin and bones. As of tonight, he is eating like a champ and is doing much better. Medical treatment continues at the Emergency; he will need a forever home, foster or rescue when he recovers. Contact Gina at [email protected]

10/2/13 – Here is Oreo slowly mending after being hit by a car several nights ago. I truly think he would have died in the street from shock if the nice caring people who saw him just left him there. A friend of 4P1H will be fostering Oreo very soon until a rescue is available or we can find him a home. We estimate Oreo to b about 4 yr old, he is fixed, and friendly with other cats. He doesn’t mind small dogs either. If anyone is interested in adopting this sweetheart or if there is a rescue who can help place him, please contact me at [email protected]

Meet Biscuit

9/23/13 Meet Biscuit. He’s a 6-month-old shepherd mix, male who was brought into the Emergency after being hit by a car. His owner surrendered him to 4 Paws 1 Heart so that he could be saved. He had a severe wound to his leg but is now on the mend. Our good friends at Misfit Angels Rescue have taken him in to find the perfect home. If you are interested in making this very sweet boy a member of your family, contact Misfit Angels on their website or facebook page. ~ diana

Noel Was Hit by a Car

8/5/13  We received a frantic call for help from one of our Facebook friends. This beautiful Rottweiler had been hit by a car and suffered severe nerve damage which affected her leg. She needed to be seen asap but the rescuer did not have the funds. 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for ‘Noel’s” vet visit medication, and laser treatment. Although, Noel’s leg may still need to be amputated, for now her infection is being treated and she is out of pain. The rescuer has been given information as to other avenues of assistance. ~ diana

Lola Hit by a Car

5/21/13  This poor little girl dog was hit by car on 8 Mile Road near Mound this morning and found lying in an alley by one of Warrens finest.

She was taken to Hoover Animal Hospital, where it was determined that she has a jaw fracture and a dislocated rear leg. 4 Paws 1 Heart offered to help with funding medical treatment but the Hospital felt they didn’t have the expertise. Consequently, 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for the initial examination and medications to keep Lola (our name) comfortable through the night.

Through our networking, transportation was found with the daughter of the the police officer who found Lola: Lisa Taylor, the animal control officer who refused to let her die, found a veterinarian with a rescue organization who will take her in and pay for her recovery costs, find her a foster and a forever home; and 4 Paws 1 Heart found medical backing through a very kind Animal Angel who has made arrangements for Lola to be seen by a specialist. At 1:24 p.m. this afternoon Lola was taken to the hospital. We will report any updates. Please remember that none of this could be done without donations from our friends. Thank You ~ diana

5/23/13  Lola Update: She’s in surgery now. They will call me when she’s out. Please keep your prayers and positive energy going her way. She’s having a lot done but you know that I will let you know when I hear something. Thanks! ~ diana

5/24/13  Quick Lola Update: I spoke with Lola’s surgeon last night. Lola was recovery well after surgery which was extensive. Lola’s jaw had been broken into 10 pieces plus she had a broken tooth. She also required hip surgery because her hip would not stay in place. She also had several wounds on her body. The doctor believes she had been hit by a car at least one week ago. Only God knows the suffering this little girl must have been through.I’ll be talking to the doctor who will be covering her road to recovery and again we thank the police officer who rescued Lola, the animal control officer, Lisa, who contacted us, and Jessica (the police officer’s daughter) who transported Lola to the hospital. ~ diana
5/25/13 LOLA UPDATE: I talked to Nancy who is the person responsible for the rescue at Parkway Hospital yesterday and she was preparing for Lola. Today I again talked with Dr. Hewitt. She was very excited to report that Lola is doing just wonderful. Her wounds are healing nicely and one of the drainage tubes was removed. She is being hand fed as a precautionary measure but is eating well. Everyone at the hospital just loves her. She will be staying at the hospital until Tuesday so that she can be watched 24/7 and then move to Parkway Veterinary on Tuesday. I will be visiting her next week and bringing her a present. I’ll be sure to take some photos. ~ diana
5/29/13  Update on Lola:   The bright spot of the day is that I did go to the Every Animal Rescue League which is the rescue sponsored by Parkway Hospital in Clinton Twp. I wanted to meet Lola and give her a new bed pillow. Well, I didn’t get to meet Lola; the manager told me that a veterinary technician in the emergency area of OVRS offered to foster her while EARL tried to find her a forever home. I was actually thrilled because the vet tech knows exactly what Lola needs and will keep Lola in her sight 24/7. I was disappointed in not meeting her but I will be in contact with her new foster. I also gave the bed to this shelter that I just became aware of. I also promised that I would be back with linens from our friend, Jo , who is alway dredging up fine linens for our abandoned and abused. I will be reporting more~diana

Meet Tyler

Meet Tyler — He is a really nice Miniature Pincher that was hit by a car in Eastpointe about 11pm tonight (5/12/13). His leg is badly broken and the pelvis is also broken in 2-3 areas. We made sure he was stabilized and medicated and not in pain while I tried to find his owner.

I posted a photo and the story on For the Love of Louie and the owner responded. It turns out that the owner had just adopted Tyler a week ago. He had seen him at the ‘pet store’ at Gibraltar and purchased him just to save him. It is unknown how this pup escaped from the yard he was in. The owner decided to surrender Tyler to 4 paws 1 heart because his main concern was giving Tyler the care he required.

May 14, 2013  – 4 Paws 1 Heart will continue to cover the needed medical treatment and then Tyler will be placed in a home that is the perfect fit for his long-term needs. It is always difficult when something like this happens, but I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason. Thank you all for sharing his story on For the Love of Louie and many thanks to Leah who created the page for lost and found animals. If there are any questions about Tyler I can be reached at [email protected]I also want to clarify that Tyler is NOT suffering. He is hospitalized and supported by veterinary professionals. His injuries are fixable and we are willing to give him a chance to live a long happy life by paying for his surgery). Our group is here to give animals like Tyler, “claimed or not claimed”, a second chance by paying medical bills and making sure he is placed with the best rescue to help his find his forever, loving home. As always, donations are always welcome because it is the only way we can continue to help with animals like Tyler and Scruffy. ~ gina
