Meet Duke

10/23/13 – MEET DUKE — This handsome, sweet boy is 15 weeks old, his owner accidentally ran him over with his car. Duke suffered injuries to his chest and he suffered injuries to his right rear leg that was broken very badly. His injury will require amputation surgery which we would like to get done as soon as possible because he is in a lot of pain. Since Duke is going to be a large breed dog and he has a lot of growing to do he will need a special home; one where they will be conscious of his weight. He would also benefit from some hydro- therapy post operatively. Without our financial assistance this puppy would not have gotten a second chance because the owner chose not to keep him due to the injuries. Duke will have his surgery tomorrow morning with Dr. Balaj. Prayers and financial help for his surgery and therapy is much appreciated. ~ Gina

10/24/2013 – DUKE: Duke was transported to a specialist last night by our good friend, Michelle, of A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue. The doctors want to wait until Duke’s injuries heal a little more before doing any exploratory surgery to determine what might be the next course of action with his leg. They think they can do this tomorrow. We will surely keep everyone updated. Again, prayers and positive energy are always helpful.

Diezel had an injury to his rear leg

6/25/13 He had an injury to his rear leg. A Pit Bull Mix and 4 Paws 1 Heart fixed him up. His foster mom (Julie) decided to adopt him and he is here cuddling with Julie’s grandson on the couch. Our good friends from Misfit Angels took him under their wing to help us with placement into a forever home. ~ diana

Detroit Police Officers Help a Pit Bull!

6/11/13 Detroit Police Officers step up to help a pit bull! We need a rescue to take in this female Pit Bull Mix ASAP! She was sitting on the porch in the pouring rain tonight at a residential home just crying to come in for shelter. Shehas some puncture wounds but more than anything she is scared, hungry, and tired. Within 5 minutes she was snuggled up to me.

When we got the call, I almost said no because of the fear of not having a place for her to go, but for all the help we give to other groups, I thought that surely someone would step up to help.

She is about 1 year old and weighs 46#. Tomorrow I will get her a nice warm bath because she is filthy:( We will get her fully vetted and up to date to ensure she is good to go.-gina

Tyler The Miniature Pinscher

5/14/13  Meet Tyler — He is a really nice Miniature Pinscher that was hit by a car in Eastpointe about 11pm tonight (5/12/13). His leg is badly broken and the pelvis is also broken in 2-3 areas. We made sure he was stabilized and medicated and not in pain while I tried to find his owner.

I posted a photo and the story on For the Love of Louie and the owner responded. It turns out that the owner had just adopted Tyler a week ago. He had seen him at the ‘pet store’ at Gibraltar and purchased him just to save him. It is unknown how this pup escaped from the yard he was in. The owner decided to surrender Tyler to 4 paws 1 heart because his main concern was giving Tyler the care he required.

4 Paws 1 Heart will continue to cover the needed medical treatment and then Tyler will be placed in a home that is the perfect fit for his long-term needs. It is always difficult when something like this happens, but I’m a believer that everything happens for a reason. Thank you all for sharing his story on For the Love of Louie and many thanks to Leah who created the page for lost and found animals. If there are any questions about Tyler I can be reached at [email protected]I also want to clarify that Tyler is NOT suffering. He is hospitalized and supported by veterinary professionals. His injuries are fixable and we are willing to give him a chance to live a long happy life by paying for his surgery). Our group is here to give animals like Tyler, “claimed or not claimed”, a second chance by paying medical bills and making sure he is placed with the best rescue to help his find his forever, loving home. As always, donations are always welcome because it is the only way we can continue to help with animals like Tyler and Scruffy. ~ gina

5/16/13  Tyler Update< Tonight Tyler was doing well recovering from the major surgery that took place this early afternoon. His femur was amputated due to the extent of his injuries, but Tyler is a strong boy who has the will to move forward. We all realize that accidents happen but too many preventable injuries are costing the life if not permanent damage long term for the pet. Please.. Neuter your pet so that they are less likely to run off or supervise when not home by putting them in a safe environment. ~ gina

5/19/13: Our sweet little Tyler is waking up from another anesthetic procedure that needed to be done tonight because he decided to try and remove some of his stitches. Not to worry he is all patched up again and full of energy! ~ gina

Meet Scruffy

May 7, 2013 – Yesterday a senior gentleman witnessed this dog being hit by a car in Detroit. He found the owners and they verbally said they did not want the dog, and according to the elderly man nor did they show any concern for their dog. Instead, they said to the man “you want him take him”. So he took the pup home and called for help. I offered him the option to bring the dog to me and “4 paws 1 heart” would have him examined and medically cared for. Turns out the rear Femur is badly broken. We are looking into surgery options at this time. I’ll keep you updated. We are calling him Scruffy. He smells badly and he is matted and un-neutered. Doesn’t appear that he had any veterinary care. We are going to wait until his leg is assessed before we have him groomed. But, rest assured, his life will be better from here on out. Although this kind gentleman made a generous donation to 4 Paws 1 Heart, the medical bills to get this sweetheart all fixed up will be quite significant. ~ giana

Ruby (Almost Recovered)

RUBY UPDATE: Ruby and Ashley…. Ruby is almost fully recovered. Three months ago she broke both of her front legs falling down a flight of stairs. We have been splinting her legs every week since. Now Ruby has her bandages off and we are going to schedule the pins to be removed. If all goes well Ruby has a very potential home lined up:) Keep paws crossed Ruby will make a full recovery!! ~ Gina

Ginger Update

Just wanted to share this update on Ginger who was rescued by our friend Lauren Melcher of Vigilante Dog Rescue. We were very happy to be there for Ginger and thrilled that she is doing so well! ~ diana

Ginger update- Ginger just had a follow up vet visit, and to everyone’s amazement and joy, her ear has somehow, against all odds, managed to heal on it’s own to the point where it will not need amputated!! She has also gained quite a bit of weight- over ten pounds!! All her open wounds are healing beautifully, her scabs falling off as old wounds finally fully heal, and her temperment, oh her temperament! She is a loving, happy, completely non-aggressive girl who just LOVES everyone, even when they’re giving her her shots! She is an absolutely wonderful girl who will be looking for her furever home in no time. For now, she will continue making everyone laugh with her antics and goofball personality. THANK YOU to everyone who helped us afford her care- especially 4 Paws 1 Heart, who made an incredible $300 donation to our vet towards her care. There is now one less dog on the streets, suffering, starving, fighting for life, and instead loving her new life as it was truly meant to be. We will post new photos of our gorgeous girl later today- wait till you see what a miracle has transpired!

Gracie (now known as Angie)

UPDATE 9/28/2012:  Gracie (now known as Angie):  Cynthia, our 4P1H Board member and foster for A Scooter’s ResQ, sent us this message and photo. ~ diana   “Angie is so cute…love her already. Thank you, Gina, for saving her she will make someone a very special companion.”

4P1H NEEDS YOUR HELP!! Gracie was bleeding out of her ear and couldn’t walk. Her eye on the right side was off for two days, but after emergency medical care from our doctors and staff, I’m happy to say she is eating, walking, purring soooo loudly. A child slammed a door on her and ruptured her eardrum on the right side. She was surrendered over to 4 paws 1 heart who paid for her medical needs and gave her a second chance.Gracie is a stray female kitten, about 11 weeks old, and all white with the exception of a gray spot in the middle of her forehead. WE NEED HELP FROM ONE OF OUR RESCUE FRIENDS TO TAKE HER IN TO FIND HER A HOME WHERE SHE WILL BE LOVED AND TAKEN CARE OF. If you can help, contact Gina at [email protected] ~ gina
