6/27/15 – I was contacted by Joani and Patterson Veterinary about this little guy who somehow found his way into the doggie door of Joani’s home. His ear was tipped and he was neutered. It turns out that Sherlock was one of the cats taken in by the Macomb County Animal Control SNR (shelter, neuter, return) program. Sherlock obviously had a home at one time because he is very sweet and enjoys being in the house. Thankfully he has wormed his way into the hearts of the grandchildren and the fur children and will have a forever home. 4 Paws 1 Heart is once again very thankful that we can provide the medical care that will open the doors for a forever home. I love his stance. ~ diana

Smokey – Looking for His Forever Home
6/25/14 – The Cats of Early Summer. And this is how your donations are being spent. Starting with Smokey who would be the perfect cat for anyone but especially someone looking for a great companion. He is declawed, lovable, and loves to be on your lap. Please share and let’s try to get this boy in his own home. ~ diana
Smokey is looking for his furever home. He is 15 months old, born on 03/31/2014, is neutered, UTD on shots and FIV/LEU negative.
He is front declawed and has the sweetest nature. Smokey is extremely smart, has been taught how to high 5 and sit, has been trained using treats and a clicker. He adjusts to new surroundings quite fast, only took a few days at his foster home with Megan to start exploring, playing with her other cats and is already crawling on strangers laps and sleeping with his foster mommy! He has not been around dogs, gets along with other cats and older children. If you want a sweet natured cat to be a part of your family, please contact: Megan at 586-209-8088 or email: [email protected].
Helena – Once Living in a Junkyard With a Severe Eye Infection – Loved and Safe
6/24/15 – Some of our friends may remember our girl, Helena. She was found in very rough shape in a junkyard in Taylor, MI in January, 2014 . Our good friend Nicole N. rescued her and contacted us. Unfortunately, it was necessary to have an eye removed and many of our friends donated for her medical bills and care. I can’t express the happiness I feel in seeing Helena today, being loved in her forever home. Here she is today and just after her eye was removed. ~ diana
Ginger, Mack, and Rollo – Victims of Heart Worm
6/24/15 – Your dog is at risk for this disease and if you want to prevent it educate yourself by reading through this link that I am posting. Please do not think that this can not happen to you. My very own dog tested positive for this…
https://www.heartwormsociety.org/
We are currently treating these 3 dogs for Heartworm Disease. Their names are Rollo, Ginger, and Mack. This is no Joke and it is around $700-$1,500 to treat…all due to a MOSQUITO. 4 paws 1 heart is currently treating these animals, and the doctor in the picture is Dr. Graves. She has generously donated the drug needed to provide treatment for all 3 dogs. We are extremely grateful to her for helping us give these dog’s a chance. Most people confuse Heartworm disease with worms in the feces (poop). The worms dogs get in their feces (poop), are totally different than the worms we are talking about here. These worms (Heartworm) reside in your dog’s heart causing damage and possible death. PLEASE take this serious, read up on this, and use the preventatives recommended by your veterinarian. It could save your dog’s life….. Gina
Our Newest Video – Some of the Abandoned and Abused from 2012
6/23/15 – Although I wrote the stories while Gina lived them, I can’t help but get emotional as I view this video once again. This video just depicts a few of the animals we helped in 2012 and we’ve yet to capture some of the stories from 2013, 2014, and some of 2015. What we don’t lack in heart, spirit, and supporters, we do lack in the time and talent to make these videos. The tears these videos evoke are strange because in most cases they are tears that these animals had to suffer but than tears of joy because they have been able to go on to a new life because of our mission and our supporters. But, we cannot help but be heartbroken because of those we couldn’t save. Here is our most recent video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fHDkFgQhc3o
Laney – Pulled From a High-Kill Shelter
6/23/15 – Meet Laney. She was pulled from the Humane Society of Macomb, a high-kill shelter now allowing a few rescues to pull animals from there. Unfortunately, they have not yet partnered with cat rescues (kill rate is over 75%) ut we are working on this. Laney, is a 9 lb. ShitZu who needed to see an eye specialist. We don’t know if her owner dumped her at the shelter or if she was found on the street. The bottom line is that 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for Laney to see a specialist who did a thorough exam and thinks that Laney’s eye may be able to be saved; although, she will probably need medication her entire life. She is available through the Michigan Animal Crew — check out their facebook page. Here is Laney when she was pulled and after her grooming while at the eye specialist office.~ diana
Chico – Heart Worm Positive Will Now Get Medical Help
6/23/15 – This is Chico. He showed up on a porch in southwest Detroit. No one stepped up to claim him and, unfortunately, after being rescued, he was found to be heart worm positive. Once again, 4 Paws 1 Heart is thankful that we have the funds to help this little guy. We have been asked to help so many heart worm positive dogs. I think what is going on is that once an owner finds out their pet is heart worm positive, they are dumping the dog. Disgusting??? YES! I wish I could think otherwise, but experience over the last five years tells me otherwise. Chico is now with the rescue group Semper Fidelis. ~ diana
