Rudy – Found Walking Across a Busy Street

6/21/15 – More Happy Father’s Day Updates! We received the following call out for help from Jen G on June 1, 2015:

“My sister found a kitten yesterday walking across a busy road. The poor thing was filthy, covered in mud and freezing in the rain. She brought her to me and I gave her a bath and some wet food but I need to get her to a vet. Her anus is very red and protruding and I think she has worms (I don’t know if it’s a male or female). She went to the bathroom today but she seems to really be straining. I will foster her and I want to adopt her but I have two other rescue cats at home and I need to make sure she’s ok. Can you please help me? She purred the entire time I held her yesterday and wouldn’t let me put her down for 5 hours. She’s very affectionate and didn’t bite or scratch so I know she will make a wonderful pet. PLEASE help me ~ Jen”.

Well here is Rudy now and when he was first rescued. BTW, he is the love of the family. ~ diana

Annie – After a Few Years Living on the Streets, She is at Last Rescued

6/21/15 – Happy Father’s Day Update from rescuer and foster mom, Diana Elizabeth. Annie was found roaming the streets of Hamtramck, MI. The doctor thinks she was out on the streets for a while but because she knows a few commands and has a sweet disposition, it is believed that she was somebody’s pet at one time.

“My little orphan Annie, well “rescued”, continues to blossom and heal from both physical and emotional trauma. She’s become more trusting and playful, bouncing around the yard and learning to chase and play fetch.
Her scars are healing, hair growing out and she’s healing nicely from her recent Spay despite some issues with the Vet. She has gained weight and filled out nicely and loves being brushed! I still have to do proper introductions with my other dogs especially my female Buttnugget aka Ellie, but not until Annie is 100% healed.
Other than that, she has a while before she’s ready for adoption. She needs a lot of work with training, leash walking and other commands but she knows “sit” and “give me paw”! LOL
Annie is a sweet and beautiful dog, calm, laid back and just wants to love on you. And I want her to know and feel what it’s like to be loved, appreciated and wanted.
Thank you again 4 Paws 1 Heart for all of your support and help!”

The Kittens of Summer – 2015

6/17/15 – What a day yesterday was!! It just never seems to end — no matter how many cats we have paid to have neutered and spayed, the kittens roaming the streets this season has been overwhelming. Here are two more who came to our attention yesterday. The first is Binx. Megan from Friends of Scooby, who we’ve helped with medical bills in the past, contacted me about a beautiful black kitten who fell out of the hood of her grandparents’ car. The poor little guy seemed to have a big lump around his anus. We agreed to pay for the medical and our good friend, Patricia D., offered to take him in. The little guy is only 3 weeks old and was sent home with some medication and stool softener.

The grey baby showed up on a porch. His eyes were a little crusted shut and the person who contacted us was worried because the mom hadn’t been seen in days. The baby was crying on her porch but she has three large dogs. Late last night, this kind woman met up with our great friend, Patricia B., who will take this little 3-week old into her home with her current brood of kittens. This baby will be vetted and treated complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart.

Thank You – Without Our Friends We’d Be Nothing!

6/16/15 – A HUGE Thank You goes out to 4 Paws 1 Heart friends, Luke and Jenny Haddad. This is the second year they have chosen 4 Paws 1 Heart to receive the proceeds from their annual Washers Tournament. We were so pleased to meet all of the participants on Sunday. And, even though there were torrential downpours, over 40 people showed up to compete and to help the animals of 4 Paws 1 Heart. With the money raised, we will be able to spay and neuter 15 cats at Rescue Veterinary Services. Consider this, one female can start reproducing at 4 months old and can have 3 litters averaging 3 to 7 kittens. AND, this cycle can continue for almost the entire life of the female. Let’s assume that this females lives on the streets, un-spayed, for 5 years and averages 5 kittens in each litter, three times a year. That equals 75 kittens born on the streets from just one female who will go on to continue the same cycle if left untouched. It isn’t difficult to calculate the significant impact that this caring group of people will make because of their generosity. Once again, thank you Luke, Jenny, and the Washers Teams. ~ dianaodin
