2/10/17 – More of God’s creatures who will never again be out in the cold, snow, and rains. They will never be responsible for the birth of kittens or have kittens. Two females who could literally have hundreds of kittens over a lifetime and two males. 4 Paws 1 Heart is gearing up for kitten season. As all of our friends know, we do not turn away any animal needing our help — as long as we have the funds. Our primary goal will always be to spay and neuter as many animals as possible and to stop the overpopulation of stray and abandoned animals – cats and dogs. The killing of abandoned, surrendered, and stray animals in municipal and private shelters continues to be of grave concern and we all need to work together to stop the proliferation of kittens and puppies. 2/9/17 – Look at this beauty. Her name is Sky. Our great friend and kitty whisperer, Debra Berolatti, has been caring for a colony behind a local hotel. She has been feeding them daily and has built and maintained shelters and feeding stations for all of them. All with the cooperation of the great management of this hotel. The other day, this beauty came along. It was obvious she was not feral because Debra was able to get her into the carrier during yesterday’s torrential rains. Yesterday she was taken to the vet to be tested, vaccinated, and spayed. Not only was one life saved, but every kitten she would have had in the wild has been saved from what too often is a hard life filled with many dangers. It truly takes a village. ~ diana

2/7/17 – RIP Sweet Dusty, you were much loved! Jennell, Thank You for the beautiful, heartbreaking post. The vet told me she had never seen anything like it in her life. Her intestines took up her entire inside. It is the ultimate love when you no longer want to see a baby suffering who has no hope of being better. It is so sad when barn cats are not fixed because we know that a female can continue to give birth until the day they die. I can’t imagine Dusty’s poor mom who must have had so many litters by the time she was 18 years old. Some barn/farm owners won’t fix the barn cats because they want a steady supply of cats. And this is what happens, deformed babies that can die horrible deaths early in life. May God Bless You and your family. ~ diana

2/7/17 – This is the time of year when so many dogs and cats are trying to find warmth and food. This is Ginger. A friend of 4 Paws 1 Heart, who has rescued many cats whom we’ve helped with, contacted me and asked if we could help with this very young, skinny and cold kitten who needed to see a vet. One night, a kind man, whose bedroom window was over the neighbor’s driveway, heard meowing from under the hood of the neighbor’s truck. After several days, he was able to catch this baby and took her up to his vet for a wellness check. The doctor told him she would not have survived had he not caught her. They estimated her at 8 weeks old. Ginger appears to have had an injury to one of her front legs that healed. It might have been a dew claw injury or a broken leg that healed. Our friend has taken Ginger under her wing and once 4 Paws 1 Heart has her leg examined, and has Ginger vaccinated and spayed (when she is healthy enough), she will look for Ginger’s forever home.
