3/24/17 – Happy Update! You might remember Axel. Axel was chained outside 24/7 suffering from Entropion. Entropion is a condition where the eyelid is turned inward resulting in the eyelashes rubbing against the eye. The condition is not only painful but without surgery, it can result in blindness. Fortunately, Axel was saved by a very kind woman who contacted us for help. Axel had his surgery and today he is doing very well in his new home where he is much loved. Here he is today and when he was first rescued. ~ diana

Cooper – May You Rest In Peace
3/23/17 – RIP Sweet Cooper. It was three years ago that you were found tied up and dying from parvo. You were only 8 months old. With love and the help of 4 Paws 1 Heart, you survived but whatever experiences you went through in your early years never left you. You were much loved in your short life but you are now no longer in pain. ~ diana
Meadow – Happy Update
3/22/17 – Happy Update! It was just a little over one month ago when I received a call about this very sweet cat who had been living in a managed cat community. While the caretakers of the community were trying to save the 21 cats in the community from a exterminator company who had been hired by the condominium complex to ‘get rid of” the cats, Meadow showed up with obvious injuries. The bone below her mouth was exposed and some think or one had obviously attacked her. During the first go around in the hospital, poor Meadow waited six days to get surgery. Finally, when she had surgery it was also determined that her jaw had been broken, so it was decided to remove some teeth so that the jaw would align better. Shortly after the surgery, she again was forced to stay in the hospital. A doctor who did not do the surgery noticed something and felt the surgeon needed to see her. This resulted in another few days in the hospital while poor Meadow waited to see the surgeon. Well, the good news is that she is healing well and happy to be without pain and loved. Best Wishes for a long life for sweet Meadow. ~ diana
Charlie – RIP Sweet Girl — Shot With a BB
3/21/17 – RIP Sweet Charlie. I wish we could save every animal we are called about but sometimes the best we can do is to humanely end their suffering. A huge thank you to Rachel Gerstner, who is always so willing, no matter what time of day, to respond to an animal in need. ~ diana
“Hi Diana,
We got a call about Charlie, who had been being fed outside but was very sweet & friendly. Unfortunately there were some very bad people who had shot her with a bb gun. A neighbor noticed the wound & took her into a vet to have the wound shaved & cleaned. Unfortunately a few months later the wound was still bleeding & showing signs of infection, the hair had not grown back & she was extremely emaciated, having been fending for herself outside for so long. The neighborhood she was in also had coyotes, so a concerned friend decided to contact us for help. We immediately contacted 4 paws 1 heart & Diana said yes, of course they would help, with no hesitation!! We got Charlie into the vet the next day, where it was determined that she had FIV, inflamed & enlarged intestines, almost no teeth left, was extremely emaciated & even though she looked like a kitten, was quite old. The vet said her prognosis was not good & it was decided between us all that humane euthanasia was the best option for her. We’re very sad that we couldn’t save Charlie, but we’re glad that she’s not out there suffering & fending for herself in the cold anymore. RIP Charlie… You will never be forgotten & we’re glad you were able to experience love & warmth & a full belly on your last day & night with us. We all love you! Thank you so much 4 paws 1 heart & Diana for always helping these innocent animals who need us!! You are very loved too!!! ~ Rachel”
Molly – Neglected and Living in an Unhealthy Environment
3/20/17 – Molly is a very sweet 8 year old beagle. Even with her age and her recent surrender by her owners, she’s still a very happy, loving girl. An individual rescuer we have helped before contacted us seeking medical help for Molly. Molly had been neglected, not fed, and was very underweight. She was rescued from a very filthy and unhealthy situation. Once safe and in her home, Olivia noticed a bad smell from Molly’s mouth and when she checked found several rotted teeth and something which resembled a cyst. 4 Paws 1 Heart authorized Molly’s visit to the vet. Thankfully, her heart worm test was negative and she was vaccinated. The next step will be to have her teeth cleaned before it is determined what teeth may need to be removed. Also, a biopsy will be taken of the cyst.
Please say a prayer for Molly that her cyst is benign and that we will be able to get her healthy again. I will keep you informed of her progress. ~ diana
