9/24/18 – WHAT A SUNDAY PART III – On September 20 I posted about this very little kitten who was attacked by a dog and couldn’t use her back legs. She was immediately taken to the vet where x rays were taken; no breaks or fractures were seen. She was given antibiotics and steroids. The next day Putty, under the care of our friend, Debbie, was starting to stand on one of her legs but the other leg was still just ‘hanging’. Although the veterinary staff thought Putty was feral, it became obvious by the next day that this little girl was just traumatized and in pain. Foster mom, Debbie, took the opportunity to examine her leg and found what appeared to be a deep bite wound. Putty was then taken to another veterinary hospital where not only that wound was treated but another bite was found and treated. On Saturday, now under the temporary care of our friend, Debra B., the deep wound opened and Putty was taken to the emergency hospital. Putty’s leg was very swollen and the wound was very infected; Putty also had a fever. She was again treated, her wound was bandaged and Putty was kept at the hospital for a few more hours. When Debra picked up Putty she was advised that the bandage would require professional changing every day. On Sunday, Gina was called in to duty. More antibiotics were applied and Putty will be seen where Gina works so that the bandage can be changed. We were told that this may have to be done over the next week or two. Please pray and send positive energy for this little girl. If we can’t get her infection healed, she could lose her leg. I’ll keep everyone updated. ~ diana

Putty – Rescued After Being Attacked by a Large Dog
9/20/18 – Please say a little prayer for Putty. We were contacted by our friend, Shelley, regarding a stray kitten who was attacked by a stray dog. She was found hiding inside a wood pile. The finder thought Putty had a broken back or broken legs because she couldn’t walk. One of the veterinarians we work with was able to see Putty as soon as Shelley could transport her. Putty was scared and hissing and had to be anesthetized in order to have x rays taken. The doctor saw no breaks and thinks Putty might just be bruised. Putty spent the night at the vet and was treated with antibiotics. She is currently with our good friend, Debbie, where he will be watched closely and be able to decompress. We will follow up with the vet as needed. ~ diana
Bubba – Rescued from a Shelter. Extremely Scared, Pinch Collars Digging Into His Throat, Ears Being Eaten by Bugs
❤Bubba is up for adoption! We think he is a Mastiff/Staffordshire terrier mix. 🐕
Bubba was rescued from a shelter he was extremely scared and shutdown.
When he came in his ears were eaten by bugs, he had 3 pinch collars too small digging into his throat, he was dirty with horrible skin and an obvious broken spirit. He shows many signs of abuse. 4 Paws 1 heart jumped into action giving him a chance and saved this sweet boy. They have paid for the medical bills and allowed his true personality to show by giving him a chance. He is placed in a foster with two dogs that he gets along wonderfully with, he’s been cat tested and he’s great with calm cats who have been around dogs.
When he first meets a new person he shuts down, gets scared, and won’t move. We suspect he was abused and due to this he trusts people very slowly. It took a month for the foster to fully get him out of his shell and even then loud noises and quick actions frighten him greatly.
He seems more fearful of men but with work he has shown he can happily cuddle with them.
He has met small children and he acts the same as with any new face, he begins trembling and not making eye contact. He’s never growled or attacked and he shows no signs of aggression.
This could be overwhelming thinking he’ll never open up, love you, or be a normal dog.
But, luckily that is not the case! He eventually will and when he does
he is a snuggle bug who loves to sleep in bed with you, loves relaxing lazy time, but also enjoys a Walk or run and his walking skills are amazing. He loves to play tug-of-war and fetch and he just loves baby talk.
He’s potty trained, knows basic commands, and has the best smile in the world.
All vaccines are up to date and he is neutered.
He’d do best in a home with someone looking for a loyal companion. Someone who needs a true friend and someone who is willing to take the time to help him open up.
Bubba is goofy, loving, and will surely complete a family if they are willing to give him the time and love he deserves.
He’ll happily return that in time.

Cuz – Living On a Chain in the Middle of a Backyard — No Food, No Water, No Bone
9/15/18 – We just love to hear about the happy beginnings. Giving abused, abandoned, and stray animals a second chance always takes a village — the rescuers, the vets, the donors, and the adopters. Thank you – diana
I started providing food and straw… and started the vaccinations on him and his yard mate.
One month later Cuz and his yard mate were surrendered to me.
I teamed up with Diana and 4 Paws 1 Heart to finish up his vetting.
On the day of his neuter we learned he was heartworm positive. We opted to neuter and deal with the heart worms after.
He was immediately started on doxycycline for the heartworm treatment. He was then moved up north to get some one on one with a human and learn some house manners.
He has been taking it all in stride and gaining weight at a steady pace.
Today is the day we’ve been waiting for… he is officially heartworm negative!!!!
Because of 4 Paws1 Heart his quality of life has greatly improved. – Megan”

Phoenix – RIP – 3 Years After the Firebombing, His Body Just Couldn’t Hold Up
9/8/18 – RIP Sweet Phoenix. I just wish we could have done more. xox ~ Aunt Di
“We are heartbroken 😢
It’s with extreme sadness we have to tell you our sweet boy was no longer able to fight the damage done to his body from the firebombing he was in before he came to us. His internal organs just couldnt support him anymore. We are angry that ever happened to him in the first place! But we are grateful we’ve had the last 3yrs to make sure he felt safe and loved. We will always love you sweet boy, be free & whole now till we meet again. ❤
Thankyou 4 Paws 1 Heart for being there for Phoenix every step of the way. Team Chance”

Billy – Abandoned on a Porch with 3 Siblings; Fractured in His Pelvis ad Femur
8/30/18 – A new special-needs case taken on by 4 paws 1 heart. Billie was found amongst 4 other kittens. A person took in 3 but because Billie couldn’t stand, he was passed up. Our good friend Debbie Nelson contacted us and we agreed to take on his medical care. He is now with our other great friend and special needs mom extraordinaire, Denise Najera –Chance’s mom. I’m afraid it will be a long journey but we are suckers for special needs and although he is in pain, he’s a little love bug. – diana
“Helloooo Team, mom here. So we have some news on our little nugget Billy. It’s been confirmed that he does have 2, possibly 3 fractures to the left side of his pelvis. And he also has a fracture to the left femoral head. Which is the top of the bone in his left leg where the femur meets the hip. This will likely require surgery. So we’re figuring out the best person for that job while his pelvis heals on it’s own. He’s not so hungry tonight and he is also having a bit of eeewy 💩 which may be from the pain meds. Poor, sweet boy ❤ He’s had his pain med and something to help his poo..now he just needs to rest and we are keeping a watchful eye to make sure he’s stays as comfortable as possible. Please continue to keep Billy in your prayers. Always this time of year donations are at their lowest. Summer vacations, college tuition, back to schools clothes, we get it…we totally understand. But even with donations and funds so low 4 Paws 1 Heart couldn’t turn their back on little Billy. And I hope you feel the same way, every donation no matter how small helps! Billy has a long road ahead of him, and 4 Paws 1 Heart will be there every step of the way right along with Team Chance ❤ “
