Knox – Rescued From a Cat Community – A Broken Leg Resulted in Amputation

2/28/18 – Please send some positive thoughts and prayers to Knox. Last week we received the following call for help:

“Hi Diana my name is Danielle and I have a feral cat population in my neighborhood and being the animal lover I am , I feed most of them. I have a kitten that lives in my yard that is almost a year old and I noticed that he started limping a couple of days ago. I managed to get a closer look today and one of his back legs is definitely broken. It looks like he was caught in a trap, the fur is completely stripped away in one area and you can actually see the bone. He holds the leg up and manages to limp around my yard but if the leg even touches the ground he screams. He is still eating but his sweet spirit is definitely broken. I work for a pitbull rescue and know quite a bit about them, but I am not very knowledgeable about cats. He somewhat trusts me, he will let me pet him but is very fearful of other humans.- Danille:

Arrangements were made for Knox to see a vet and it was confirmed that his leg was broken and needed to be amputated. Danielle and I already discussed this possibility because if this happened, he could not go back outside again. Knox’s leg was amputated but before that he was found to be feline leukemia positive. Thankfully, Danielle, wanted to give this sweet boy. who was obviously caught in an inhumane trap, love and shelter and she will be keeping him and 4 Paws 1 Heart has committed to helping him in his journey. ~ diana

UPDATE:  “HI auntie Diana! I am in my new home with mom and my new k9 brother Chevy. We just wanted to send a pic so you could see how handsome and happy I am. Thanks again for saving my life, we love you. – Knox”knox w:danielle leeknox2:28:18

Anna – Left Behind With Large Mass on Her Leg

2/26/18 – This beautiful girl was left behind when her owners moved. Unfortunately, she has a huge mass on her leg. Anna has been tested and blood work was done which indicated normal blood levels with the exception of an infection. Anna received antibiotics and will be seeing the vet again in 8 days and will possibly need surgery to remove the mass. Please send your positive thoughts and prayers her way. ~ diana

Mandy – Found on the Streets; Very Ill

2/22/18 – This little beauty was found on the streets by an independent rescuer responsible for saving dozens of cats who have been abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Mandy was found in a feral colony but she was not feral and appeared to be very sick. We approved Mandy’s medical visit and here is the report from her rescuer – diana

“She had a really bad cold, sinus and eye infections when I picked her up off the streets. Now she has roundworms. Without the help of 4 paws she would not have made it through the worst of the winter. Thank you for your help. – Francine”

Spice Family – Spice, Hazel, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Chili – A Mama and 5 Kittens

2/19/18 – Meet the Spice Family. We received a call from our friends at 313 K-9 and Kitty Rescue. They had rescued a mama and her 5 newborn kittens that were found as strays. One kitten had developed some pus-filled bumps on her and there was a concern that it could spread because one kitten had died that evening. We were happy to have them seen by the doctor at Five Mile Veterinary and it was found that the the pus-filled bumps, had been caused by a bite infection from the mom. That baby was treated and is doing well as is everyone else. Their names are Spice (mama), Hazel, Cinnamon, Ginger, and Chili. If you are interested, please contact 313. Can you imagine what would have happened to this family if not for the rescue and the donations to 4 Paws 1 Heart? Please consider donating today. Every day we get several calls for help and we can only do what our purse will afford. Donations can be made using the link on the left side of this page or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI . 48080. Thank YOU – Dianaspice family w:313 2:19:18

Plan A wasn’t happening…I was contacted by a previous adopter (I’ll call her AK) concerning 6 cats that needed to find a rescue due to the owner has dimentia and her daughter needed help rehoming them. I contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart and agreed to have my back for updating their shots, snap test and wellness visit. AK meriaculously found a rescue Providing for Paws that had a foster that would take ALL OF THEM! So…Thursday morning vetting, take them back to their home, and pick them back up Saturday and deliver them to Nadine Pyne-Dochenetz the foster. PERFECT PLAN! so we thought…..

After a lot of Blood (mine), Sweat (hubby’s & mine) and Tears (of joy once they all were in carriers) we were on our way to Rescue Vet. I said to hubby….”Hubby, there is NO way I’m going to be able to get them in carriers Saturday again NO WAY” so plan B it is! Texted Nadine – she could take them after 4 (an hour away from us) – great. Texted the daughter that I wasn’t coming back with them – FINE! Text my boss – need a full day vaction instead of half- OK! They were purrfect, sweet angels at the vet….all tested negative! All on their way to their new chapter in their lives! Thank you all, 4 Paws 1 Heart, AK, Nadine Pyne-Dochenetz and Providing for Paws and most of all my hubby….who helped during capture, transport and my life.

Please contact Providing for Paws for adoption info. The kitties, the vet determined are 3 years old.”

Calvin – Rescued with a Leg Wound

2/13/18 – He showed up in a cat community but Calvin was not feral — just scared. He also had a wound on his hind leg. We were happy to send Calvin to our favorite doctors at Patterson Veterinarian where Calvin was tested, neutered, vaccinated, and treated for his wound. Intact animals left to fend for themselves in the wild are targets for fights and rape. A whole different dynamic occurs when everyone is spayed/neutered. Anyone interested in adopting Calvin should contact: [email protected] ~ dianacalvin 2:9:18

Gizmo – Critically Ill; Found on the Streets

2/12/18 – Another happy beginning for Gizmo. I also want to do a huge shout out to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services (OVRS) for all of their analysis and recommendations and for keeping our expenses always in mind. The staff of Oakland Veterinary Referral Services truly puts the animals first. We are so happy for Gizmo. ~ diana

Jecol Talbot to 4 Paws 1 Heart

Huge Thank You to 4paws1heart, Diana and Rachel, for getting Gizmo (a tiny sick under 1lb kitten we rescued few months ago) the help and medical support he needed to get heathy and cleared for what we thought was going to be an outrageous surgery due to his birth defects being ignored from his 1st exam…but after 3 opinions and necessary tests, he’s going to be ok and on 3 meds to get him there! I couldn’t of did it with out you guys and those who support 4paws1heart!! Thank you!!😻gizmo w:jecol 2:9:18
