Owner Surrender Finds Her Way to Rescue

I’m proud to say that our very own Board member, Melissa, will be picking up this sweetheart on Monday to foster until she finds her forever home. 4P1H paid for vaccines and spaying and A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue will be taking her under their rescue wings. Working together to make a difference.

This was Lisa Taylor’s, Warren Animal Control Officer, post on Friday: ~ diana

“Today I picked up an owner surrendered sweet, gorgeous little girl. She has bad skin from fleas, is being treated and tested right now (capstan and frontline). She’s a total cutie and under a year old. She will need to go somewhere today, at least temporarily! Please message or call me if you can help.”

Saving Angel and Shiner

4 Paws 1 Heart is happy to send some medical dollars for our friends at Detroit Bully Corp in their efforts to save Angel and Shiner. ~ diana

“These two sweet souls were spared today… Many will perish tonight, but a collective Community effort has secured the lives of these two beautiful spirits. Always room for growth, always a need for education… Always be willing to give freely… “It takes a village”

Welcome Chelsea to NBS

It’s truly a wonderful thing when animal advocacy groups can keep their focus on the animal and work together towards one goal. I truly admire the rescue groups who we have been fortunate enough to help. May God always watch over them. ~ diana

Please help us welcome Chelsea to NBS Animal Rescue! This poor little girl was found by a wonderful supporter who contacted us to see if we could help give this little lady some much needed TLC.

Chelsea was so badly matted and dirty that

she couldn’t move freely, was barely able to see around the matted fur on her nose and face, had horrendously painful mats in her armpit area, her tail was completely matted to the bone with lots of burs, sticks and dirt stuck to her fur. Her ears were 2-3 times as thick as they should be because of the matting on both the outside and the inside of her ear canal, and the poor darling had matted fur that made a sort of “boot” around all of her paws that left her paw pads completely covered and long nails poking through starting to curl under.

She was kind enough to let our volunteers try to remove some of the burs, but it was quickly evident that in order to help this little one feel better she was going to need to be completely shaved under anesthesia to help her avoid the pain of removing the mats.

Our wonderful friends at 4 Paws 1 Heart very kindly agreed to help us get Chelsea the grooming care she needed so that we could further assess her medical needs. The amazingly awesome Gina and staff at the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center anesthetized Chelsea and worked diligently for over an hour to carefully remove the severely matted fur that was causing Chelsea so much pain.

After waking up from her anesthesia Chelsea was a MUCH happier girl – she got down on the vet’s office floor, ran around the room, hopped up on our volunteers legs to say hello, shook off the remaining little fluffy hairs, and wagged her tail like all was well with the world again!

Chelsea is HW negative, received her DHPP and Rabies vaccine, and visited the wonderful folks at Bingo Pet Salon today for a bath and nail trim. Because Chelsea’s matting was so incredibly severe and painful, she has a bit of a patchy coat right now as some areas of her body had to be shaved down to the skin just to remove the mats as they were literally pulling her skin taught. Once Chelsea’s bruises, minor scabs, and skin irritation begins to heal and her her starts to re-grow our friends at Bingo will giver her a full body groom to even her out and make her even more beautiful than she already is.

Chelsea slept well after her big day, and is happily romping with her foster fur friends, enjoying playing with new toys, and doing well with figuring out this potty outside thing. =)

Chelsea will be available for adoption after her vetting is completed next week. She’s a sweet little lady who sends her love out to Jess, the wonderful woman who found her and sought help for her, Gina and the staff at AUCC for making her so much more comfortable, 4 Paws 1 Heart for generously covering the anesthesia fee and vet visit to help this little one feel no more pain, and Bingo Pet Salon for their patience and gentle touch.

NBS Rescue

NBS Animal Rescue

Please help us welcome Madeline, Makayla, and Camryn to NBS Animal Rescue!!

These incredibly adorable 5 week old Shih Tzu/Poodle/Pekingese pups came to NBSAR from our fantastic friends at 4 Paws 1 Heart when their mother tragically died during puppy birth and their four siblings were still born. 4 Paws 1 Heart’s tremendously amazing, incredibly awesome Operations Manager Gina cared for these bab

ies around the clock tube feeding them and then weaning them onto a bottle during the first few weeks of their life.

Madeline, Makayla, and Camryn are settling in well to our wonderful puppy foster home and are doing great with their antibiotics for a mild upper respiratory tract infection they developed a while back as very young pups. Each one of them is at a different spot developmentally and they each have unique personalities!

Madeline is the smallest of the bunch, weighing just under a pound. This sweet little girl just wants love – lots and lots of love! She’s the mild mannered one of the bunch, loves to be snuggled in your hands, and is content falling asleep in your lap! She is also the most under-developed of the bunch having no teeth yet (they are JUST starting to push through the gums), still teetering around as she tries to run, and still unable to effectively lap enough formula from a dish. She very much enjoys her bottle feedings 6 times a day as it incorporates snuggling in warm hands! Madeline has black and brown fur with white tips on her hind legs.

Makayla is the independent, all American girl puppy! She loves to snuggle in your hands – on her terms – and is then quickly off romping around with her brother! She has teeth that are just barely poking through her gums, is running around with her brother, albeit still a bit unsteady and wobbly, and is able to lap up formula from a dish, but still isn’t able to get enough puppy mush on her own. She too is enjoying bottle feedings 4 times a day as we encourage her to lap up puppy formula on her own. She’s a spunky little gal who loves to explore! Makayla has black and brown fur with white tips on her front legs.

Camryn is the lone male out of the bunch and he is by far the most advanced developmentally. Interestingly enough, Camryn was born the smallest of the three pups and Gina wasn’t sure he would pull through the first few weeks of his life. This chunky little fella has several chompers, has no problem eating puppy mush or lapping up formula from a dish (although he enjoys a final drink of formula after his sisters get done with their bottles), and is off romping, playing, exploring, and is starting to show interest in playing with toys. He also loves to snuggle! This silly fella sleeps on his back and as he dreams his little paws “run” until he kicks one of his sisters and they get upset and then he rolls back over! Camryn has black fur with a patch of white on his chin, front feet, and a tiny spot on his back!

Although these sweethearts will not be available for adoption until they are 9 weeks old and have received two doses of their DHPP vaccine, we are accepting applications for these sweethearts now. If you are interested in adopting Madeline, Makayla, or Camryn, please visit our website at www.nbsanimalrescue.com to fill out an online adoption application.

We would like to send out a huge PAWS UP to our friends at 4 Paws 1 Heart for giving these sweethearts the best possible chance at a healthy and happy life and for trusting us to continue the high quality of care they received early on in their lives and find amazing fur-ever homes for each of these sweethearts. If you would like to make a donation on Madeline, Makayla, or Camryn’s behalf, please visit the 4 Paws 1 Heart website at https://4paws1heart.org/donations/

Stay tuned for more pictures of these sweet little pups! This picture was taken shortly after their bath, lunch, and puppy wipe down of their faces after enjoying a feast of puppy mush and formula!

Medical Dollars to Loveabull Paws Rescue

And, last but not least, our very good friends at Loveabull Paws Rescue have been with us since our beginning and have always been there to help us with a dog brought into the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center, sick and emaciated. They are tireless in their efforts and we’re so grateful that we are able to send some medical dollars their way. May God Bless Them and all of their lucky rescues. ~ diana

Emaciated Destiny and her 11 pups were rescued this week. Mama doesn’t have enough milk to feed all 11 babies because she’s so so skinny. We are supplementing them between feedings and so far all seem to be doing well. Please keep this sweet mama and her babies in your thoughts as they continue their journey to recovery! More pics will be posted soon.

Medical Dollars to Dog Aide 2012

I’ve shared the amazing work of Dog Aide 2012 – Community Awareness many, many times. They not only rescue but they work with owners to educate and feed. We are thankful for their willingness to always be there for a stranded/neglected animal and we are pleased to send some medical dollars their way. Thanks, Ladies of Dog Aide. ~ diana

“Hi, Friends! It’s me, Buddy. I am blurry because my tail has a lot of happy. I am feeling so much better today. At first I didn’t like all the pokes, but now I only get the subQs pokes. They aren’t so bad. Awesome Lady made me a nest of comfy blankets and we snuggle after the poke. So I don’t mind that. But so many pills! Yuck. My tummy stopped hurting, though, so I guess the medicine is working. I even wanted dinner! Awesome Lady gave me little dinners. It’s like having three dinners in one night! Pretty neat. I have my own bowl. It’s blue. Auntie Mel S stopped by to visit and we snuggled in my nest and I showed her my bowl. She said Dog Aide friends are working hard to get me healthy. She said snuggling with Awesome Lady and let the medicine do its job. So I’m going to do that ♥, Buddy”

Medical Dollars to A Scooter’s ResQ

A Scooter’s ResQ is a phenomenal organization who has been our friend from the very beginning. We’re very happy to help with some medical dollars. A Big Thank You to them for everything they do. ~ diana

“Look who came into rescue!  Little Ralphy and his brother Marty… This sweet little guy needs a good forever home. He has a brother that looks almost like him just a little lighter in color. That needs a home too! They are four years old, neutered and front declawed. Very scared of dogs and very nervous around other cats. They are both shy but very sweet. Both have been groomed and shaved down due to the mats but when that hair comes back they will be beautiful.”

Update:  Marty and Ralphy have found their furever home.

Medical Dollars to Misfit Angels Rescue

4P1H is very happy to send some medical dollars to a great rescue group- Misfit Angels Rescue – home of Thor and Diana, Sir Charles, Sophia, and many others who we’ve watched over the past two years. ~ diana

“Yasmin is approximately 7 weeks old and 5 pounds.  She was extremely emaciated, full of worms, and found by a concerned citizen on the porch of an abandoned burned-down house. The vet found that she has a hernia, and, could not get any shots. “
