Sophia – Thrown Out of a Moving Truck on I-75, Michigan
6/6/15 – Meet Sophia and her new sibling Spot. Sophia was thrown out of a red truck on I-75 in Michigan. Fortunately for Sophia, a kind and observant young man saw the horrific action and rescued her. He then contacted a former teacher who contacted us. It just so happened that the teacher had recently rescued a cat from the street (Spot), so we offered to spay and neuter both cats as well las make sure they are healthy and vaccinated. I can’t grasp the level of cruelty it must take to throw a living creature out of a moving vehicle onto a highly-traveled highway. May the person/s who did that rot in hell – sooner than later. A huge thank you to the young man and to the teacher, Suki, who has decided to keep both Sophia and Spot. ~ diana
Neville – Rescued from the Streets
5/29/15 – This little guy was found by a good samaritan who was worried about his crusted eyes. She was happy to give him shelter and love but needed help with the medical. We are happy to say that Neville tested healthy with the exception of an upper respiratory infection. We continue to be happy that we can be there for those who can’t turn their backs. ~ diana

I said you run things like a sarge around here! Please mom, Im trying to do my report…geez. Ok, so things been busy around here. We had 4 babies just long enough to give them a meal then they went to foster. Then last night we got the Pool Deck babies. There are 4 of them and there soooo cute, but real scared. Theyre about 5wks old and are staying in the other cat tower by me so I can keep an eye on them and reassure them they are safe. And the 3 itty bittys are still itty bitty. And they still sleep in the nursery right next to mom on her bed. They are preemies and require a lot of moms attention. Of course Im still numero uno! Top guy on the totem pole and moms best helper! What Oliver?!?!? What???? Ok, ok, best helper right after Oliver. Sheesh! Everybody’s soooo sensitive around here!!!! Ok, coming mom!!!! Gotta go do my exercises now with mom cuz tomorrow I go see my main squeeze, Dr. Kern atPawsitive Steps Rehabilitation & Therapy for Pets. What mom? Huh? Oops I almost forgot. Pool Deck Kittens
5/28/15 – We received a call for help from a 4p1h friend. 4 kittens were under a pool deck without a mom. Our great friend and trapper extraordinaire, Debra Berolatti, trapped them and brought them for a temporary stay at the CHANCE INN (lol) We haven’t had time to have anyone vetted but they all look pretty healthy. We are looking for permanent adopters/fosters. A big thanks to all of our supporters for giving us the opportunity to save. The money runs out fast, so, if you have a few extra dollars, use the donate link on this page, our website, or send a check to P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 — Again, we couldn’t do it without YOU!! ~ diana
R.I.P Sweet Angelo
5/27/15 – RIP Sweet Angelo. Angelo was found on the street laying on top of his dead sibling. Although, he was seen twice by veterinarians for his upper respiratory infection and being treated, he just wasn’t strong enough. At least his final hours were wrapped in love. This is a photo of when he was first found. Thank You, Jennell, for trying and being there for all of the babies ~ diana.
Fosters and Adopters Needed
Dear Friends, foster homes are seriously needed for kittens — some requiring to be bottle fed because their moms were killed, and some already weaned but still needing homes. If you are interested, please contact me at [email protected] and we can get a foster application to you. Thanks!
EMMA- Emaciated and Alone AND Shot Purposely with a B-B Gun
5/25/15 – Last week we received so many calls for medical help. So many little ones found on the streets requiring medical assistance. Thankfully, I could say “yes” to these caring people who made the effort to save. This is Emma. She was found alone, emaciated, riddled with fleas and ear mites. But beyond all of this, the kind rescuer was concerned by a bump Emma had on her chest. We authorized Emma to be seen by a veterinarian and they found that the bump was a BB!!! Someone actually purposely shot this poor animal with a BB gun! The bb was removed and Emma was treated for the fleas and an ear infection. She is doing well after her visit. When she is ready, 4 Paws 1 Heart will make sure that Emma will be spayed. If anyone is interested in adopting this sweetheart, please contact Hannah at [email protected] ~ diana
Hero – Living in a Hoarder’s Home – His Letter of Thanks
5/24/15 – Never Turn Your Back ~ diana
“On May 1 several TNR volunteers went to a residence in Garden City for TNR and discovered a “Hoarding House of Hell”. These volunteers worked diligently in hazmat conditions to pull 15 cats and kittens alive from the premises. Efforts are still underway regarding the aftermath of that day and to deal with the residents of that house. Hero is one of the lucky ones who made it out alive. Thank you to Tail Wagger’s and PAWS of Michigan for foster homes and to 4 Paws 1 Heart for assistance with medical needs ~ Jeanine D.”
“My name is Hero. I don’t know what that means – actually, I don’t even know what it means to have a name – but the ladies who pulled me from the garage from the Hoarding house of Hell said it was because I never gave up and I am their hero. I guess that is a good thing.
I remember that day. I couldn’t stand up. I wasn’t even hungry anymore, I had been hungry for so long that it finally went away. I heard all of these people voices. They were saying things like, “do we have them all?” and “where else should we look?”. I didn’t really like people voices because they were so mean, but these people voices were different. So I meowed. It was hard, but it made the voices stop and say things like, “did you hear that?” and “ I think I hear something, where is it coming from?”. So I kept meowing, and I kept meowing as loud as I could and suddenly the garage door went up and light came in and someone grabbed me and put me in something they called a live trap. I still don’t know what that was, but I could breathe. I couldn’t stand up, but it didn’t matter. There was food in there and the trap place was covered up and the ladies with the voices carried me away, away from where I could not get out, where there was no food, where it was dirty and hot.
I don’t remember a lot about the next few days. I saw lots of people called doctors and techs. I got lots and lots of something called medicine. And I got food…..and water….and it was warm, but not hot…….and clean……and there was a place called a litter box for you know what.
I started to see again, but I just kept my head down and looked down all of the time. It was too hard to hold my head up and it was still hard to walk. But the ladies had such nice voices and soft touches. My skin and fur was so, so dirty and itchy, but I got a bath and the hard parts called mats got shaved off. All of the bugs that kept biting my skin and my ears were suddenly gone. The ladies said medicine made them go away. And lots of medicine made it easier to breath and see and hear.
I am in a bunch of things called crates that are hooked together and I can walk now, and I walk from one end to the other. I am strong enough now to climb on these things called shelves. I can see – I love looking outside and feel the fresh air blowing on me. And I love looking at the ladies, they have soft voices and soft touches. It doesn’t hurt to go in the litter box anymore. And there is always food and water. Whenever I want. I don’t feel hungry anymore.
I hear the ladies talk sometimes about the Hoarding House of Hell and the garage there where I was. They call it a prison. I just remember that I could not get out, or move around, or have anything to eat or drink. And it smelled so, so bad.
The ladies say that when they pulled me out I was severely malnourished, had multiple infections, ear mites, fleas, impacted anal glands, eye and ear infections, deep respiratory congestion, balding spots, severe matting, and missing teeth. I don’t know what any of those things are. I think my teeth left my mouth when I got kicked or hit or something. That side of my face still hurts sometimes.
Sometimes I still remember the Hoarding House of Hell, but the ladies tell me that where I am now is what it is really like to live, that most people really are nice and take care of their animals. I didn’t believe them at first – it felt safer to just keep my head down and not look at anyone – but now I think maybe they might be right. And I love looking up! ~ Hero”
Kittens – Spaying and Neutering is the Only Answer
We are thankful that we can support all of the caring people who don’t turn their backs on those who need us. Here’s a note from her rescuer. diana
“Hello everyone! I just wanted to give a HUGE heartfelt thank you to Diana and to 4 paws 1 heart. After seeing a post on another website of kittens in urgent need of a foster and medical care, I decided to try and help out. After meeting the woman who had got the kittens from the Lapeer farm at Wilsons vet In Romeo, It was determined that the kittens were so sick and needed to stay for medical treatment and further evaluation. Kittens had low blood sugars, worms and were extremely frail. After a lot of love and care kittens were tested and came up positive for Feline Leukemia (could be a false positive) however due to me having a cat at home I unfortunately could not at that point bring them to my home. I found a foster through all you wonderful people to take them on Monday. The vet bill was quite high and 4 paws and Diana were so generous to step in and help out. I cannot say thank you enough for helping me save these babies. They are currently with me at my parents until their new foster can bring them to her home. Here they are below on the path to healthiness and happiness. Thank you so much again and god bless you all for what you do! ~ Sarah”
