Alley – Found in a Feral Cat Community With Serious Eye Issues

10/19/18 – Please say a little prayer for Alley. She was rescued from a feral cat community. She originally tested negative for fiv/felv. But, she continued to have issues with her eye. She was again tested and the test results came in positive for leukemia. We then had her tested again, and, unfortunately, the test came back positive. Alley will still be seeing an eye specialist, as was recommended by our vet; she is with a wonderful rescuer who will keep us updated.-diana

Oliver (aka Stevie Wonder) Found Appearing to be Blind; the Shelter Wouldn’t Take Him

10/16/18 – Oliver was rescued from outside a municipal shelter which couldn’t take him in because of his physical condition — he was very emaciated and appeared to be blind. Our good friend, Shelley, took the call for help and rescued him and then our other good friend, Debbie N. took him in. Oliver was seen by one of our partner vets and she thinks that the third eyelids are covering his retinas. He is scheduled to see another doctor next week. I’m not sure what the prognosis will be but we will do whatever we can to help this very sweet boy.
Don’t forget that the SWEETEST DAY MATCH is on and donations will be matched (up to $1,500) between now and midnight, Saturday, October 20. We couldn’t help these abused and abandoned animals without all of our good friends and YOU. 4paws1heart.org/donations/ ~ diana

Honey – Thrown Out by His Owner and Then Was Hit By a Car, Resulting in Two Broken Ankles

10/15/18 – I absolutely DO NOT understand the cruelty of some humans. BUT I thank God that there are more kind people than those who abuse. I received the following e mail last week and Honey was seen by one of our favorite vets. X-Rays were taken and it was determined that both of Honey’s ankles had been broken and had now ‘healed’ over. The doctor estimated Honey to be about 7-8 years old and gave us two options — have an orthopedic doctor see him or let “nature take its course”. In the end, the doctor believed the results would be the same. So it was decided to do nothing for the broken ankles. No other breaks could be seen. Honey was treated for an infection and we will make sure that if he needs anything else we will be there. Honey will finally be given lots of love and care.

“I rescued an older male cat a couple months ago. I ended up finding his owner which was my neighbor, and the owner had told me he didn’t want the cat and that’s why he was outside. His name is Honey. When I tried to pick up Honey, I noticed bones poking out. And when I met the neighbor I asked about the bones and the neighbor let me know that Honey was hit by a car. I have no idea how long ago this was (I asked and the neighbor didn’t tell me.) all I know is the vets told the neighbor to put the cat down and obviously he did not.
I have Honey updated on all of his shots and he’s totally clean of diseases! The only problem is he seems sick lately. I don’t have the money to get him the proper medical attention he needs. I wouldn’t mind keeping him, but he’s obviously extremely ill and I can’t help him. – Brianne” . ~ diana

Maggs – Found on the Side of the Road; Flea Infested and Now Having Seizures

10/14/18 – Trust me when I say that this has been the very worst period that I have experienced in 8 years. The number of serious illnesses and injuries have been overwhelming. But, some how we’ve been able to weather the storm — SO FAR. We have a number of commitments that are outstanding because the animals are either not old enough for all of their medical or because they have multiple appointments.

Maggs is a boy who was found on the side of the road, very flea infested. The fleas were literally sucking out all of his blood making him extremely lethargic. 4 Paws 1 Heart took care of Maggs’ medical needs but now he has recently been having seizures. He is scheduled to see one of our vets tomorrow, so please say a little prayer for him. He has fought hard and we are hoping that it’s nothing serious. Maggs will need a forever home.

Sooki – Loaded With Fleas and Worms, and an Ulcerated Eye

10/12/18 – This past week I received the following e mail:
“I came across this little precious kitten a week ago and I am just broken hearted over her. She came to us loaded with fleas and worms. We have been trying so hard to help her but her poor little eye is ulcerated and I think it has popped. We live on a fixed income but would love to help and keep her. She is so playful and loving and has just stole our hearts but I am in fear of waking up to a dead baby. A veterinary clinic recommended I get ahold of you. Please help out little Sooki. Thank you for your time. – Cari”.

Sooki’s eye was removed and she is now home with her new forever family. She is doing great and purring up a storm. She will still need to be spayed but the doctor didn’t want to put her through too much at once.

REMEMBER – Without your donations, we couldn’t give the abandoned and abused that second chance at life.
Starting tomorrow, all donations (up to a maximum of $1,500) will be matched by one of our generous Board members.4paws1heart.org/donations/Sooki w:carihutchinson 10:2:18

Gracie – Brought Into the Shelter with a Broken Femur

10/11/18 – Meet Gracie. She was brought into the Macomb County Animal Control Shelter as an injured stray. She had a broken femur and required a leg amputation. As we’ve said many times, municipal shelters are not budgeted for such extensive medical treatment so they reached out to us for help. Gracie had surgery by one of our favorite veterinarians and she is doing well in her foster home. Anyone interested in adopting this very sweet beauty should contact Jillian at the Macomb County Animal Control shelter. ~ diana
