9/4/17 – On this Labor Day I would like to share this very heartwarming story. Again it was all about teamwork — a Macomb County animal control officer, Brian Pylar, who cared enough to start a GoFundMe page, took the kitty into his own home to foster and adopt out, and who contacted us for additional help. Mac, a three-month old, kitten was found on the street, injured and very ill. It appeared he had been attacked by a larger animal; he had a broken, shattered arm which needed to be amputated. He also had an abscess which damaged nerves and caused an infection. His arm needed to be amputated. NOW THE GREAT NEWS – On August 31, I received a text from Brian. Mac, our little guy with the amputated arm, was adopted by a war veteran who lost an arm while serving our Country. Mac would have been euthanized had it not been for a caring person and 4 Paws 1 Heart. Now two lives have been changed forever! ~ diana
Twinkles – Rescued with an Injured Leg

“OMG my Facebook fans….Twinkles here…you probably forgot about me because my FOSTER MOMMY HASN’T POSTED AN UPDATE – Geez…I had another vet appointment last Tuesday with different vet…I LOVE DR. Z! She doesn’t want to cut off my leg! She said my knee, which I walk on (like my Aunt Anne Sadowski and Aunt Lisa Marie Panczyk) will form a callous an that will protect my knee. Dr. Z said I might even stop using it and it will just hang there when I grow up! So at this point the surgery would just be cosmetic…ha who needs that when all people see when they look at me is my precious face? Right?
But the REALLY BIG NEW IS…..drumroll….I picked out my FOREVER MOMMY!!! Yeah, it was love and purrs at first sight. In about 3 weeks I will be going to live with Bambi Pesti Hartter and her kitties!!! I’m the luckiest kitty in the world! And again…thank you4 Paws 1 Heart for paying for all my medical so I can get ready to go home!!! _ Dee”
Violet – Taken To Animal Control at Just 3 Weeks with a Severe Infected Eye
9/1/17 – Violet is one of the commitments I spoke of earlier. We are always happy to be a part of a team especially when it involves caring people like Officer Pylar. Here is her story:
“Violet came into Macomb County Animal Control on June 22nd, 2017 as a stray, 3 week old kitten with what appeared to be an infected eye. The veterinarian at MCAC placed Violet on medications in hopes that the eye would heal while she was in foster. Weeks went by and her eye, unfortunately, did not appear to be improving and our veterinarian recommended seeking further treatment beyond our normal means. As many of you know, all of our animals at MCAC are completely vetted, however with situations such as Violet’s, we must reach out in hopes of donations for our 501(c)(3), non-profit animal welfare fund, to help cover major medical situations such as Violet’s. Officer Pylar reached out to Diana, Director & Founder of 4 Paws 1 Heart, in hopes of help with the surgical procedure. Without hesitation, Diana set up an apointment for Violet’s eye to be evaluated by a specialist. The specialist discovered that Violet had ruptured her eye in 2 separate places and removal would be the only option. Diana gave the go-ahead and the procedure was completed. Violet is now recovering in her foster home and will soon be available for adoption. Macomb County Animal Control would like to give an incredible thank you to 4 Paws 1 Heart, for everything you do for our community. Without your compassion, efforts and teamwork, amazing success stories such as Violets, would not be possible”.
Blu Blu – One of Ten Puppies Needing Rescue
8/31/17 – Meet Blu Blu – He was one of 10 puppies in a litter that the finder was contacted about. Although the finder tried to help more, she was only able to get Blu Blu and contacted us for medical help. We were happy to get Blu Blu what was needed to make sure he would be a happy, healthy, puppy. The family was going to find a good home for him but decided that their home, with two other rescue dogs, was the best. A huge thank you to all of the people who open their hearts and homes for these animals. Unfortunately, it is not known what happened to the other nine. ~ diana
Carla – Rescued from a High Kill Shelter; Paralyzed, and Now, With a Bladder Stone
8/31/17 UPDATE: Carla is home and is doing great. She is the happy, bouncy kitten she was before she started having issues with urinary tract infections which turned out to be caused by a bladder stone. She is now spayed and will soon be on her way to continuing her physical therapy. ~ diana
8/30/17 – Please say a prayer for our girl, Carla. She is having surgery today to have a bladder stone removed. She has been seen by three veterinarians and two of the three, who we trust implicitly, feel strongly that the stone needs to be removed and that we shouldn’t risk waiting for it to dissolve and a piece of stone getting caught causing a blockage and what would be emergency surgery. She will also be spayed at the same time. Mama Dee is worried because she has to express Carla in order for her to urinate and Carla will have an incision in the area where she needs to be expressed. But, our doctor has instructed Dee as to how to do this safely while Carla heals. Thank you to everyone who has donated for Carla’s unexpected surgery. The demand for help has been great and we are in need of donations and support for our upcoming fundraisers — BUT — as I’ve said before, once we commit, we are committed and we will do whatever is needed for our girl. ~ diana
Frankie Peanut – Found on the Street With a Broken Femur
8/30/17 – Frankie was found on the street with a broken femur. Every day we are thankful to be working with great rescues like the Ferndale Cat Shelter, who will take in the abandoned animal once we take care of the medical bills. It was necessary to have Frankie’s leg amputated, but he will do great in a forever loving home. ~ dia
Poppy – Living in an Abusive Situation; Heart Worm Positive
8/29/17 – A caring person learned of a dog being kept in an attic. The dog broke the window and was ‘barking’ for help. It was a very abusive situation and fortunately the dog went home with the rescuer. She was taken to an emergency hospital where the foot pad was found to be split and bleeding with a missing nail. Later it was learned that she was heart worm positive; that is when we were contacted. Poppy is one of the heart worm cases that we committed to and she has been on her 30 day pre-treatment and will be starting the injections soon. She is doing very well with the family but has not acclimated to the family dogs. Say a little prayer that this sweet animal will have peace and love. ~ diana
Zena – Found on the Street; Missing a Part of Her Leg
8/28/17 – Meet Zena (aka Captain America). The rescuer was contacted about a cat roaming the area who was missing part of ‘his’ leg. All the rescuer had to do was to put out a trap and ‘he’ just walked into it. (It’s hard not to have a piece of your heart break off each time I’m contacted about these many animals and think about the many who are never rescued.) But, the good news is that Captain America (actually Zena) is one of the few rescued and was named such because of how amazing he was to have survived the street with half of his leg missing. As you may have guessed, Captain America turned out to be a Captainess America and was renamed Zena. She had her leg amputated and is now in a loving foster home.
