Bruce Needs A Forever Home

3/4/16 – Please share and let’s get this very sweet 10 year old boy a permanent home. He was rescued from the middle of the road by Katie Schuman. She contacted 4 Paws 1 Heart and we paid for his medical treatment. Please contact Katie at: [email protected] Here is his story:
“Bruce is the most appreciative senior cat I’ve ever been around.
We rescued him a few months ago while he was in the middle of the road begging to get hit by a car. Under six pounds and at an estimated age of 10, he was severely emaciated, flee infested, and extremely dehydrated. We have had our shares of emergency trips to the hospital!
I have gotten his weight up and stable. He has a heart murmur and a condition called megacolon from chronic constipation. I found this dosent really effect him. He also is missing a top canine tooth. This dosent phase him as he loves food and his water. (Water especially)
Unfortunatly, I can no longer foster Bruce and need to find him a loving family.
He keeps to himself the majority of the time and tolerates my small dog. My kitten likes to play and tease. He wasn’t so crazy about that idea. I can only imagine the battles he has gone through with other animals. He has NEVER thrashed out or showed any signs of aggression. He is neutered and declawed in the front. I have a nice litter box to go with him and any food that is left over.
He is the sweetest little guy and needs lots of love. Katie”

Sherlock Holmes – Happy Update

3/4/16 – A Happy Update from one of our friends. It was June 25, 2015 when we received a desperate call for help (see photo on the left). A stray cat had walked through the family’s doggie door. The cat had a “bad jaw and tooth”; his leg had two puncture wounds, it was swollen, and he was limping. The young son immediately fell in love and named him Sherlock Holmes. We paid for Sherlock to receive medical treatment and today he is obviously doing great and loves cuddling with his snuggle buddy, Tiger. Your donations make miracles happen for those who have no one else. ~ diana

Lux – Now Heart Worm Free

3/1/16 – We were contacted June 30, 2015 by one of the vet techs at one of our partner veterinaries. Lux was found heart worm positive and he was going to be put down. Stephanie asked if we could pay for his treatment, if she rescued him. Thankfully, because of our supporters, we were able to say YES. Here is this handsome boy when we were first contacted and now, today; heart worm free!lux 3:2:16 lux 3:2:16++

Brooklyn – Still Critical Because of Sepsis, She is Now Found Heart Worm Positive

3/2/16 – brooklyn 3:2:16 Brooklyn w:toys 3:2:16Update on the pregnant dog taken in over the weekend. Last night this sweet girl tested positive for Heart worm Disease. She has already been through so much, but we have no intention of giving up on her now. She needed an emergency C-Section followed by treatment for going septic. There were complications from her pregnancy and 2 of her 4 babies were deceased inside of her. She is 8 yrs old and the pups were premature and the ones with a heartbeat needed to be euthanized.
*This is why you should Spay or Neuter your animals*

As for the Heartworm Disease we will be consulting with a few doctors to see what treatment options there are for her. She is at risk because of her age. Heart worm is a blood parasite that is transmitted from a mosquito. The worms live in the pulmonary chambers of the heart and can suffocate the heart causing death. There is a prevention that is recommended for your dog during heartworm season. Once positive, the treatment is to kill the worms off which is another risk and can be fatal. It is expensive to treat and can take up to a year to kill of the worms successfully.
*This is why your animal should be on Heartworm Prevention*

Please keep the prayers coming for this sweet girl, and if you would like to help towards her medical care we would appreciate any assistance.
Thank you, Gina

Toby – His Owner Advertised Him for Free on Craig’s List

3/2/16 – It was September 18, 2014 when we received the following e-mail:

“I just rescued a puppy Friday who was listed Free on Craig’s List. Come to find out, he has never seen a vet (no shots or neutering), and he was diagnosed with Dermodedic Mange. His whole body is covered in pinkish red sores, and they have begun to open up.”

Thankfully, we were in a position to not only take care of several bouts with the Mange but also to have Toby neutered and vaccinated. Here is the photo Kathleen, the rescuer, provided the first time and here he is today — happy and healthy in his loving home.toby9:18:14 toby 3:2:16 toby++ 3:2:16

Brooklyn – Pregnant at 8 Years Old

3/1/16 – brooklyn3:1:16 Brooklyn+3:1:16 brooklyn++3:1:164 Paws 1 Heart has taken on the medical funding for this very sweet dog. She is breaking my heart and these eyes say it all. The only family she knew is gone and due to complications from her pregnancy, 4 of her babies didn’t survive. She looks as if she’s had several litters of puppies and finally at 8 years old her body was done. Ultrasound showed 4 fetuses, 2 deceased and 2 with heart beats. She had bloody diarrhea and was vomiting. Today she is recovering from her emergency spay and the sadness in her eyes is killing everyone. She will need a home when she recovers and it might be her one and only opportunity for the love she deserves. If you can find it in your heart to help place her or if you would like to help with the medical, let us know. Donations can be made on this page under the ‘donate’ link or by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080. You can reach me at [email protected]
