Chihuahuas – Abandoned and Abused
12/27/15 – We received the following message and couldn’t turn our back. How could we?? Debbie, who is facing so much of her own challenges, continues to try and save animals. Please share and if anyone is interested in adopting these babies, please contact Debbie at [email protected]. We were happy to pay the remaining medical bill and truly appreciate the discounts given by the veterinarian.
“Hi I was given your name by my best friend Lisa Struebing Decock. I need help with two little Chihuahuas that came into my possession under some strange consequences. I actually picked them up from Delta cargo on Friday evening. They came all the way from California from a high kill shelter. They were put on a plane without me confirming I would even take them. I had to go get them I wasn’t going to abandon them. They came with all their shots and microchipped and spayed. Their flight was even sponsored. Now basically they are my responsibility. I am only these little girls foster momma and already have four of my own dogs and two cats. With two of my fur babies being special needs animals. I am normally a foster for A Rejoyceful Animal Rescue but they are on an intake hold due to huge vet bills. This all wouldn’t be an issue except that one of the Chi’s has an extremely horrible mouth issue. It’s to the point that I’m not sure any of her teeth will be able to be saved. The other one is young and the only thing in her mouth is one canine baby tooth is going to have to be removed. I’m taking them in tonight to my vet for evaluations. I’ve been in tears about the one that’s mouth is in horrible condition. I’m sure there is infection going on and don’t want things to get worse ( Can’t imagine they could) But I don’t have funds of my own to get treatment. I also would like to talk to you about networking them under your rescue, of course after we get their teeth taken care of. Obviously I will foster them until their forever home can be found. They are both sweet little girls and deserve the best. I am beyond myself trying to figure out how I can help these little girls. I’m facing Breast Cancer surgery in the upcoming months and again have four of my own. I am on disability from a horseback riding accident so funds are more than tight. I appreciate your consideration in advance.”
Arthur – A Christmas Gift Gone Wrong
12/27/15 Arthur update.. The doctors and staff at the Animal Urgent Care have been working hard on this Christmas Holiday to save this baby along with the countless other emergencies they have been faced with. Arthur was a Christmas Gift and he was sick.
An animal is a commitment and all members of the family should be on board. Animals are a life. They are not a toy. This little man is now fighting for his life and part of assuming responsibility for an animal means being prepared to afford care when they get sick. It can happen at 1 day into adoption, or 10 years into adoption, but they become a member of the family.
4 paws 1 heart was able to give this puppy a 2nd chance, and he still may die or have medical issues forever. How many like him die every year because they can’t get help? I wish people would stop breeding and rescue the ones that already need homes. Please don’t take an animal that you can’t afford to take care of. ~ Gina
Shih Tzu/Yorkie Puppies – Thriving
12/26/15 Happy Saturday! The little puppies are doing great! smile emoticon
I just want to apologize for not getting back to all of the email inquiries regarding these babies. I’m keeping track of all interested families, and I’ll respond after the holiday. They have weeks of care needed before placement would be considered..
Thank you – Gina

Arthur – Possible Leptospirosis Victim – Fights for His Life
At 12:04 am on Christmas Eve, I received a call from one of our favorite Emergency Hospitals, Advanced Animal Emergency. I was asked if we would help an 8 week old puppy that was a “Christmas Present “. A present they could not keep, but surrendered to us to allow him the help he needed. I was told he is very, very, sick and in need of emergency medical care. We said yes.. The staff has been working very hard to save this 8 week old puppy who we suspect might have a virus called Leptospirosis. Please send your prayers….your prayers ALWAYS work, and he NEEDS them because he is very sick! Thank you, “Animal Urgent and Critical Care” doctors and staff for spending your Christmas Day caring for this beautiful 4 paws 1 heart puppy along with the many other emergencies, and thank you “Advanced Animal Emergency”, for sharing our mission..
Lesson? Do not buy animals as Christmas Presents.
Milly (aka Joy) – Lily’s Sibling – Now Rescued from the Cruel Outdoors
12/25/15 – On this Christmas day I want to share a true Christmas blessing. Lily’s sibling, Millie, has been trapped and transferred to our good friend, Dee N. Both Lily and Millie were ‘feral’ kittens in Pam Clark’s yard. Master trapper, Debra B., had already trapped the older cats and took them to the vet to be spayed/neutered/vaccinated. Lily was pretty easy to trap but Millie gave Pam and Debra a run for their money; she was a wily little girl. After days of poor Pam waiting and keeping a watchful eye on the trap, Millie was caught. She is now with her sibling; safe, maybe a little scared, but she has her sister and Chance to show her the ropes. Once again, a huge thank you to all involved. _ diana
P.S. I almost forgot! A wonderful family is waiting in the wings for both girls. Once they have had an opportunity to decompress and we can make sure everyone is healthy, they will join their new family. Merry Christmas!
