ODIN – Hit By A Car and Temporarily Paralyzed

5/19/15 The Board of 4 Paws 1 Heart would like to welcome Dr. Pamela Graves to the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center as our new emergency doctor. She will be a wonderful addition to the AUCCC staff and the community. She and Dr. Maria provide emergency care to animals in the surrounding cities in Macomb and Wayne counties. Dr. Graves has already assisted in helping with more than a handful of our 4 Paws 1 Heart animals and I think she will be a wonderful asset to our organization. I feel that we are extremely fortunate to have Dr. Balaj, Dr. Maria, Dr. Pillsbury, and now Dr Graves involved in our cases because they are all highly skilled and compassionate doctors. Here is Odin with Dr. Graves and with his new harness that Dr Graves bought for him. Odin came to us unable to walk due to trauma to his spine. He has received some physical therapy, laser therapy, and acupuncture. Now he can walk, run, jump, and play. He is still in need of a permanent home and he is just the most lovable dog! Odin gets along with other dogs and he gets along with my cat. He loves to give kisses and absolutely loves to snuggle. If you would like more information about him please email me. at [email protected]

BEN – Saved Before Being Left at a High-Kill Shelter

5/18//15 – HELP! This very handsome boy, BEN, is in critical need of a home to call his own. His days are spent in a kennel because his foster mom is at her limit, especially while she continues to care for Molly who is now hospitalized (details later). It was never intended that Ben would be with the foster for more than a day but…. Ben is neutered and front declawed; he was found wandering the streets all alone. 4 Paws 1 Heard paid for his visit to the veterinarian. He weighs 12 pounds and has tested negative for FIV/FELV. Patricia, foster mom, says Ben just wants to be loved and just wants attention. Patricia’s cats like to keep him company while he is in the kennel. If you would like to help Ben, please contact Patricia at [email protected] ~ dianaben 5:18:15 ben5:18:15

MOLLY – Sitting for Days Without Food and Pregnant in a High-Kill Shelter

5/18/15 – Prayers and Positive Energy Needed – Our Molly is in the hospital under the care of our best miracle worker and the great staff of the Animal Urgent and Critical Care Center. Molly was taken to the veterinary on Friday because she still did not want to eat. After running a panel of blood tests, the doctor suspected that Molly’s stomach had become upset by an over dosage of medication as prescribed by the Humane Society of Macomb (where Molly was on death row and was given the antibiotics when she was molly5:28:15removed). Yesterday her foster mom called and we decided to have her be seen under Gina’s watchful eye. The report as of this morning is that there is still uncertainty as to why Molly will not eat. The doctor does concur with the prior veterinarian who suggested the problem might be related to an over dosage of medication; Molly was getting 5 ml’s of antibiotics a day when she was supposed to be getting only 1.5 ml’s a day. Unfortunately, the label on the script was misinterpreted for ten days. Molly could be suffering from severe gastrointestinal ulcers. Molly is now on IV stomach protectants, IV fluids, injectable appetite stimulant, a new antibiotic and pain meds. Blood work, x- rays, and a felv/fiv test (negative) were performed. She will probably be hospitalized for a few days, and with all of this, she still is suffering from an upper respiratory infection. After a few days, Molly’s treatment will be reassessed. Along with your prayers, please remember that both Molly and McGee will be looking for their forever homes. There is no doubt that McGee will be missing his partner. ~ diana

Harsen’s Rescuer Speaks Out

5/15/15 – As most of us know who follow and use Facebook, many postings do not reach everyone and often individual posts get lost in the thread. In our posting about Harsen, our sweet baby, caught in a leg trap and who has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge, I saw a posting by his rescuer, ‘the construction worker’. I wanted to share this posting so that most of our friends could see it. For every minute that I, at times say I hate humans, there are 60 minutes when I say, ‘Thank God for Humans” Thank You, Jeffrey. You are the person that all should emulate. ~ diana

“Jeffrey Syrocki
I’m the construction worker mentioned, it breaks my heart that Harsens didn’t make it through, but theirs joy in my heart to know he is not suffering any more. This post brought me to tears!!! As I look at the cat that we rescued 2 winters ago playing and happy, waiting for me to come home and rubbing up on me and meowing. Warms my heart to see her play and be healthy. So sorry Harsens didn’t make it but maybe the next can with great people like everyone mentioned working together to help these animals. Thank God for good people who take time from their busy lives to help out!!! Thank you all and God Bless Harsens and welcome him into your arms smile emoticon God bless all the people who try and often succeed. Thank you for giving us the strength to make a difference for these dear sweet animals !!!!!”Harsen-caughtin leg trap 5:14:15

Chance – Getting Stronger Every Day

5/15/15 – chance5:15:15Please check out our baby’s page “A Second Chance for Chance” and see the amazing video of him walking. Before calling Dr. Kern, the other veterinarians who saw Chance recommended euthanizing him. They said he would never walk and his quality of life would be zero. Today he is using his litter box (with a little assistance), getting so many visitors his foster mom needs to pass out numbers (lol), he has a huge personality (as you can see from his posts), and he is starting to WALK!!! I love you Chance. ~ Aunt Di

“Ok ok mom, Im getting up! Soooo today I have an early appointment with Dr. Kern atPawsitive Steps Rehabilitation & Therapy for Pets. I just love my Dr. Kern! Without them, we dont know what would have happened to me! 4 Paws 1 Heart provides medical dollars for abused, neglected & abandoned & homeless animals. Simone – Helping Our Friends at Tigerlily Cat Rescue

5/14/15 – Meet Simone who is with our good friends, Tigerlily Cat Rescue. Simone was rescued along with his mom and his litter mates and was the only one with an infection so severe he had to be taken immediately to surgery where his eye was removed. 4 Paws 1 Heart is so thankful to have friends like Tigerlily who have helped not only cats who have come into our organization but who have also been helping with the cats surrendered during the protests at the Humane Society of Macomb. We were happy to help with little Simone’s surgery. Say an extra prayer for this little one and watch his progress on the Tigerlily facebook page. ~ dianatigerlily::::5:14:15 tigerlily5:14:15

Molly & McGee Update – Caged For Weeks in a High Kill Shelter

5/14/15 – A Molly and McGee Update from foster Mom, Patricia. Please continue to pray for these babies. They spent 13 days in a kill room at the Humane Society of Macomb. My heart swells to see them free and fighting to live. ~ diana

“Molly and Mcgee…….it’s playtime!! We took some time out to play today and Mcgee’s favorite is a soft ball thingy with feathers on it. And Molly still has that hunter instinct in her, she caught herself a mouse! Mcgee is doing good on putting on weight, right now he has added well over one pound but Molly seems to just be holding her own. I have now put her on a 3 hour feeding schedule to help. Keep up the prayers for Molly, no where out of the woods until I see some weight gain. I will say this….Molly is feisty, stubborn and down right defiant and has attitude! But I say that is a good thing! ~ Jennell”molly5:14:15 mcgee5:13:15
