Saved From Certain Death

1/6/15 – Tonight we took in these 2 animals (strays) that are hospitalized with Hypothermia. One of them very critical and fighting for his life (Beagle). His temperature still not registering. Found tucked behind a dumpster in a trailor park on 8 mile and Ryan. Warren Police were kind enough to bring him in for help, but Eastpointe Police (called 3 times), wouldn’t do anything for the other dog except tell the resident that animal control can be contacted on Thursday or they can lure the dog out of the yard and just let it run away. Well, thank God for people who CARE like Laura from “Mutts of Motown” and Jen and Nick from “Misfit Angels”, because they dropped everything to come out and help catch this white dog regardless… If not, he would’ve been dead by morning or near death. He had been trapped for over 2 days! Resources are slim to none and my advice is to step-up and do something besides watch an animal freeze to death. A leash, some food, blankets, and a spare room/bathroom will usually help. Unfortunately, (most of the time), you just cannot rely on public safety or Animal Control for these kinds of emergencies (especially at night). The animal will be dead by then.
Thank you Dr. Maria and Lisa for watching over these patients all night. ♡

Seymour – Sometimes All of Our Efforts are Just Not Good Enough

1/5/15 – Sometimes all of the money in the world can’t save an animal. We want to thank Nancy of Michigan Cat Rescue for saving Seymour from any more abuse and giving him the opportunity to know what it was like to be loved — even for a short while. 4 Paws 1 Heart is thankful that we can help our friends at Michigan Cat Rescue.
RIP sweet Seymour. ~ diana

Michigan Cat Rescue:
Michigan Cat Rescue12:28:14-seymour“We would like to share the sad story of sweet Seymour. On Christmas Day our president was on her way to the airport and just happen to stop at a gas station she has never been to before. She started pumping gas when she noticed a black cat skin and bones come out from behind the building. This sweet cat went up to a man purring and rubbing on his leg as if to ask for help. But instead of helping this poor starving SWEET cat the man started to brutally kick the cat repeatedly shouting. Of course with no care for her own safety our president immediately intervened. When she confronted the man he got angery at her, shouting, swearing, coming towards her. Putting herself in dangers way she scooped up the cat that was later named Seymour and was able to get out of the situation safely. Seymour snuggled and purred into her lap, head butted, and licked her chin, he knew he had been rescued from not only starvation but the dangers of the outside including evil humans. Although extremely sweet Seymour was a very sick kitty. Not only injured from impact of abuse, weak from starvation, a severe upper respiratory infection, but radiographs revealed a mass in his abdomen, his skin was yellow or jaundice which means liver problems, and he had fluid in his abdomen in which the vets suspected FIP. Seymour was super sweet and loving the entire time the veterinary staff worked in him, just wanting to cuddle in their arms. Everyone that met Seymour fell in love with him. Despite all tireless efforts to save this sweet boy, we are deeply saddened to say he didn’t make it. Our sweet little Angel kitty is suffering no longer and was surrounded with love and warmth in his last hours. I write this with tears in my eyes and my heart goes out to all kitties out in the cold, starving, and enduring abuse. We are all extremely heartbroken this little guy touched all of our hearts. Even after being abused he still was so loving and trusted humans. Nancy”

Ringo – Working With Rescue Partners

1/4/15 – This handsome boy was taken in by our very good friends at Mutts of Motown. He was immediately taken to a veterinarian in that he could not use one leg and seemed to be in significant pain. It was determined that the bones in one leg are shattered and he has a severe infection. Ringo will probably need to have the leg amputated but no final decision will be made until the infection has been cleared. Ringo is now comfortable and safe with a foster. 4 Paws 1 Heart is very proud to help rescues like Mutts of Motown with medical bills and thankful that by working together we can help abused and abandoned animals like Ringo. Lily – Living with a Bladder Stone and Left to Suffer by Her Owners

1/3/15 – A New Year and more abandoned and abused animals to help!! We were contacted by Malak with the following situation:

“She was living in somebody’s basement and they were neglecting her. We responded to one of our friends Facebook ads saying that a family friend of theirs didn’t want her anymore. We offered to take her and when we brought her home we noticed that she was urinating blood and it has a really awful smell. We took her to the vet the next day and they did an X-ray and urine analysis (which we are still waiting on). The X-ray showed a very large bladder stone which is taking up most of her bladder.”

Malak started a Go Fund Me page and we offered to help with what was needed to get sweet Lily into the hospital asap for surgery. The surgery was completed yesterday and little Lily is now loved and cared for and recovering from this painful condition. Here is Lily before and after. ~ dianaLilyw:Malak Lilyw:nalek1:3:14

Happy 2015 From 4 Paws 1 Heart

sonic:dino20141/1/15 – Gina, our Board, and I want to wish everyone a 2015 filled with much love, laughter, good health, and loving pampered pets. It has been such a phenomenal year — nearly $85,000 spent on medical bills. I just cannot believe the number of wonderfully loving people who continue to support us and the animals who rely on us humans to survive. This is one of those few moments where words escape me but to all of those who have made the difference by donating money, food, linens, or offering up your homes to foster or adopt, or by responding to calls in the middle of the night to rescue. and to the many veterinarians and veterinary technicians who give up their hearts for very little money, we just say Thank You for joining us on this journey. May God Bless and Watch Over All Of You. ~ diana
