Backyard Breeding Leads to Unwanted Dogs – Alex
4/13/15 – We are looking for help with this sweetheart. He is 3 months old, lab retriever mix, male, adorable puppy. For details or if you are a rescue that can help us please email me. We rescued his brother and sister not too long ago, and he is the last from the litter that now needs our help. I’m also looking for name ideas please.. [email protected]
Storm – Relaxing With the Board of 4 Paws 1 Heart (or is he just bored?)
4/12/15 – More photos of Storm. She is only 4 weeks old and requires to be fed by syringe and needs help, as all little kitties do when they don’t have a mom around, to know when to go to the bathroom. If little Storm would have wound up at the Humane Society of Macomb, she would have surely been euthanized because of her baby needs. In their own report to the State of Michigan, this shelter admits to killing 70% of the cats it takes in–this does not include the cats they kill at the alleged owners’ requests. Please look at this face and tell me this is acceptable. ~ diana
Chance – The Fighter
Chance was rescued from a high-kill shelter and within days his back legs became paralyzed. Fortunately for Chance, our great friend, Denise Najera, noticed his plight and asked if we could back her if she took in Chance. Of course, we couldn’t say no. Our boy is working with one of our favorite doctors, Dr. Tari Kern, of Pawsitive Steps Rehabilitation & Therapy for Pets. And, as Denise says in her posting, donations to 4 Paws 1 Heart would be very welcome because without the support of our friends, we wouldn’t be able to save the abandoned animals like Chance. ~ diana 4/12/15
Community Involvement – Advocate for No-Kill Shelters
4/12/15 – The Macomb Daily did the best job on reporting the protest of the Humane Society of Macomb by concerned animal advocates. It is good to see that the reporter actually researched the reports and accurately reported the kill rate at this house of horrors. http://www.macombdaily.com/…/dozens-protest-euthanasia-rate…
Community Involvement – High Kill Shelters Need to be Shut Down or Be Creative to Save
4/11/15 – Very proud of the 4 Paws 1 Heart Board members and the 4 Paws 1 Heart Support Group Joanne Marie Hoopes, Debra Berolatti, Denise Najera, Patricia DiMaggio Siergiej, who came out to protest the deathly practices of the Humane Society of Macomb. Shirley, owner/director, can justify all she wants, she can clean up the place for the media, and she can claim that her “kill rate” includes owner requests for euthanasia. But their own facts speak for themselves — 1,363 cats were taken into the shelter in 2013 and 998 were euthanized at the director’s choice (70% kill rate) and 497 were allegedly at owner’s request. Let’s keep up the fight. This kitty is one of of small percentage who made it out alive and was adopted. He couldn’t stop eating for three days, according to his owner. ~ diana
Storm – Just a Baby, Found Before a Spring Rainstorm
Disney Duck Tales
4/10/15 – So here is the situation — You saw the three kittens Gina took in last night. Thankfully, our friend, Amanda, of Advanced Animal Emergency, agreed to take them in and bottle feed them. This morning I received a call from another 4p1h friend — landscapers were at a home and found two 1-week old kittens while they were working on private property. The landscapers advised the homeowner, and the homeowner told the landscaper to THROW THEM IN THE TRASH. Can you believe this??? Unfortunately, yes I can. Although many puppies and dogs are abused, I firmly believe that more people believe cats and kittens are ‘throw aways”. I have to admit that I would love to see these people, who were so uncaring of life, rot in hell and maybe, some day, their actions will catch up to them. A huge thank you to the landscaping employees who did care and brought them into the hospital so that Amanda Morris could add them to the ‘group’. If I find out the name of the Company, I will let everyone know so that if you are looking for a landscaping company, you can check them out. Thank You, Amanda, for taking them in! Here is Amanda’s posting. ~ diana

Sky – Update
4/9/15 – Update on Sky ( fawn and white), with her new best friend Rex (grey and white). Sky was found in a very bad situation and rescued by a good Samaritan. She is still under the care of 4paws1heart while we try to get to the bottom of her health issues that she presented with. Saturday she is scheduled to see Dr. Barnes at Harper Woods Veterinary Hospital. Once we have some solid answers we will post an update. If you would like to donate towards medical costs for any of the animals we give a 2nd chance to, your donations are appreciated. Donations can be made through paypal by clicking the link on this page or our website, 4paws1heart.org. Or, by mail at P.O. Box 84, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080 Thank you, Gina
