Beautiful, Francine, and Cutie Pie – Found in an Industrial Park

2/23/16 – More kittens saved by Roberta and medically treated with funds from 4 Paws 1 Heart. All of these kittens had upper respiratory infections as well as eye infections. Left untreated, these helpless babies would have, at best, be blind and at the worst died from an eye rupturing. Napoleon- Alone Walking the Streets of Detroit

2/22/16 – Meet Napoleon rescued by Brian D.a few months ago. We have worked with Brian before with other dogs he has rescued and we are very happy to help him with his efforts. He has a true love for these abandoned animals. Here is Napoleon’s story. ~ diana

“I found him walking the streets of Detroit. After contacting all the shelters and rescues, no one could take him in. I checked many sites and For The Love of Louie, posting his story with pictures trying to find his home or owners. But no one has come forward. He’s finally calmed down enough to be around people and not scared of everyone. I would like to have him checked out and see if he is ready to be neutered, heart worm tested and vaccinated. He’s come a long way. He’s a little guy but love’s hugs and attention. He still dosent like to be picked up or moved by hand. And will not accept to have a hand on his collar and pulled in any way.He’s good on a leash. He still has issues with certain things. But he still gets nervous. He’s healthy and in good shape. His teeth had been filed down so I’m sure his teeth should be looked at for an overall health check. He’s a sweetheart and gives big hugs. But he’s very picky on what you can do with him. Trying to find him a home will be difficult and I have been looking. Who ever would be a potential adopter would have to not have small kids. He doesn’t like to be pushed or pulled on. No dogs or cats. He has a fear of dogs. He loves to run and play and will need a high, fenced-in yard. Currently he is in a heated doghouse and it always stays around 60 degrees inside. He has come a long way in the past few months. I’m doing what i can to let him be a dog. If he had gone to any animal control he would have been put down. A vet said he was prepped to be a bait dog when we took him to get checked for any microchips. I have a spare room for him after neutering so he will be away from our dogs. He finally gave our Gizmo licks through the gate between the two sides of my backyard. And visiting with her every day by the fence. As far as adoptions go. I’m not positive about wanting him to go to just anyone. He is a particular dog. Only someone who knows how to deal with a dog that’s been treated badly. If you push or pull on him he will try to protect himself. If i can’t find the right situation for him. He will always have a safe place here. He’s good on a leash. Making A Difference – Trap, Neuter, Release (or at times) Adopted Out

2/22/16 – Asking for donations is not my skill set but what I do like to consider my specialty and duty, is letting our supporters know how their hard-earned money is spent. As I’ve mentioned before, the number of kittens and cats trying to survive outdoors is overwhelming and there are just not enough resources. Finding people to trap the cats is hard to find; getting the funds to take care of the medical needs is always a huge issue; then, the biggest issue of all, is finding quality fosters and loving families to adopt. If you care about the welfare of animals, you will join in the daunting effort to make sure all animals are spayed/neutered and to convince people that buying animals only encourages further breeding.

Having said this, I would like to introduce you to more of the kittens who have been trapped and rescued recently by our friends Roberta Kretz and Charlotte Yakima. Had they not been there to rescue these kittens they would have eventually lost their sight and their eyes, dying a very cruel death. I’m very thankful they came into our lives because they’ve given me a source to go to when people contact 4 Paws 1 Heart looking for help. The following kittens have all been spayed/neutered/vaccinated/tested, and medically treated for their infections, complements of 4 Paws 1 Heart. Here they are in order. All had upper respiratory infections and eye infections which have been treated.
JANET – 12 weeks old; trapped at a pallet company. She was starving and in sub-freezing temperatures.
CHYNA – 5 months old; trapped at an industrial park
OSCAR – 5 months old; found freezing and staving in a caring person’s yard.
DIAMOND – Oscar’s sister. Again, 5 months old. More than likely both she and Oscar were left behind by owners.
WHISKEY – 5 months; trapped at an industrial Park.
CARE BEAR – 4 months old; trapped at an industrial park

Jack – Continuing to Heal from His Eye Removal

Jack w:Kelly Parchertt 2:19:162/19/16  – “Happy update: Mr. Jack somehow scratched his cornea, so the good Dr. Burg gave us ointment for 3x a day and said he will be good in no time 😀😀😀Thank god, I wasof course thinking the worst, but all will be OK!! Thank you everyone for your care, prayers and concern. ❤❤❤ you all!! ~ Kelly”

“Hi everyone, please keep Jack in your prayers this morning, he is having an issue with his remaining eye. Yesterday he came to me, eye shut and clearly distressed. When trying to look in his eye he let out a “meow cry” so we bundled him up and held him for the rest of the day. He started to be his happy little self again last night at treat time, but still his eye remained just cracked open. We don’t know if he scratched it, has something in it, or if it could be a complication from surgery. The Dr. Is off today and out of the area, but agreed to come in to see him at 10:30. We will post an update as soon as we know something. Paws crossed everyone – Kelly”

Little Mac – 8 Weeks Old and All Alone

2/20/16 – Meet Little Mac – He was rescued from the streets just under 8 weeks old. 4 Paws 1 Heart paid for his testing and vetting and unfortunately he tested positive for FELV. Although, it should be noted that kittens so young may have false positive results. He had another special test done and we are waiting for results. Biggie – Left Behind in the Home After His Family Moved

2/19/16 – Happy Update! This is Biggie. Here is his story as told by Rita M.:
“Biggie was rescued in southwest Detroit after his family moved and left him in the house to fend for himself. Fortunately, a woman who was practically homeless herself, began slipping food into the house so that he could live. She didn’t have much herself but posted a video online. Fortunately, I got the video and around 2 a.m. last October my husband and I were able to rescue him. Biggie is one of the best dogs I have every fostered. He is house trained and thanks again to 4 Paws 1 Heart, he is neutered, heart worm tested negative, and vaccinated. He gets along well with other dogs and is now looking for his forever home. ~ Rita”

Cupid – Continues to Improve

2/19/16 Cupid Update..
This baby puppy (weight is now 1.5 pounds), is doing very well and we are taking it one day at a time. Cupid is a fighter and he has the will to live. He is on vitamin drops, calorie paste, and I have to constantly encourage him to eat, but he will eat. smile emoticon His body is so conditioned to not eating food that it will just take time to build his strength and replenish the nutrients he has lost. Valentino – Chased Down on I-75 in Detroit, MI

2/18/16 – We again thank the many animal saviors who do not turn their back on those who have been abused and abandoned. Here is the story of Valentino as told by his rescuer, Rita M. :

“Valentino was found running down I-75. We chased him for 2 miles, blocking off the freeway with the help of Michigan State Troopers. He had a huge lock and a skin tight collar on. He’s very skiddish; around 5 years old with no tags. We’ve posted him on lost and found pages but no takers. I don’t even know if this guy has ever been in a house; he didn’t know what to do with a dog bed. He would not sit still and won’t get on the couch. He is starting to warm up and is wagging his tail. I do have a potential adopter. Could 4 Paws 1 Heart help with vaccinations, neutering, and heart worm testing? – Rita”

Lost and Abandoned Cats of February, 2016

2/16/16 – You would think this is kitten season with all of the cats and kittens who have been rescued over the last two months. I truly thank God for all of the wonderful, caring people who will hang out into the evening in this cold weather trying to trap what usually becomes a domesticated cat who has been thrown out of his home or maybe became lost. Here are just a few who have found themselves into warm homes or warm outdoor shelters.
